Goddamn it their soda bottles and disposable water bottles and other beverage containers leave a little plastic piece so you don’t have to hold the cap with your hands, it just stays there.  Beautiful.

Then you get back and you just sigh because you have to hold the damn cap.

Haha, it is due to a new EU Regulation anf people hate it.

Yep I find them really annoying.

That cap dingles on your cheek and any drop left in it will spot on your cothes.

Are you a squirrel with 23 birds in your mouth? No way I'm getting hit by that cap even if I try.

man, you are talking to a Redditor

Skill issue.

I figured out how to drink without issue and with the cap attached pretty quickly and you should too.

From the day I saw what it was, I started to rip the thing off.

I actually love it, it just took time to get used to.

Oh that's funny, everyone I know hates that. They changed the law a couple years back so they had to be attached. No one here likes it

I grew to become ok with it. It is a bit annoying, but it's also a bit convenient in that you can't lose the cap. So it cancels out to neutral for me.

u/Loosee123 5h ago

In my whole life I have never once lost a cap so I don't know what problem it fixes

3

u/Liquid_Squid1 4h ago

Marine litter, mostly. Apparently people were losing them en masse at the beach.

1

u/crolionfire 4h ago

Eh, some of us are incompetent, what can I say, and this Saved za, although it's much more to do with recycling, actually.

13

u/TheSecretIsMarmite 6h ago

Theyre very handy at the beach. Your lid can't drop in the sand.

4

u/DirtyRoller 4h ago

WHAT? I fucking love those lids when I'm overseas! 😂

5

u/Sentomas 5h ago

I hated it at first but then I had an old bottle where the lid wasn’t attached and I felt absolutely lost with the cap taking up the entire utility of my hand.

u/CircleOfK 5h ago

That's because a lot ppl haven't figured out in the first place, how to handle the call correctly. If you do, it's completly out of your way

1

u/Scr4p 2h ago

Kind of also depends on the bottle, some have a shitty version of the mechanism where you can't really get it out of the way without breaking it off

I like it. Many people I know do and most don’t care one way or another.

If you get het up about something so trivial, then something else in your life has gone spectacularly wrong. Most people simply don’t care about minute issues like this one if their life is otherwise fulfilled.

It works well with very fluid liquids like sodas etc. But with thicker liquids, like protein shakes or smoothies, it often creates a mess since some of the stuff gets stuck in the cap and then further spills on to your shirt when you try to drink from it.

u/Badgladmadwords 6h ago

That’s a big fucking boatload of judgment and aspersion to cast on someone who doesn’t like something you like, my guy. 😂😂

2

u/NowoTone 6h ago

But yes, I agree, it’s a tiny bit judgemental ;)

0

u/NowoTone 6h ago

Sorry, that wasn’t targeted specifically at you. And it’s not about liking or not liking it. Some people profess to hate it. And those people who seem to muster up so much hate and constantly moan about something so irrelevant do seem to have much bigger issues.

1

u/Badgladmadwords 5h ago

I don’t hate it, but I do find it to be a small annoyance and I think it’s an example of the pointless and costly gesture politics that the EU engages in while the deeper problems of the continent continue to get worse.

Even then, I don’t spend a particularly large portion of my life thinking about it.

2

u/Nightmare_Fart 5h ago

Okay hate was a big word. Obviously I don't care this much about something this unimportant. But it does annoy me. And that's not even taking into consideration the whole politics part of it

1

u/mixomatoso 5h ago

That's part of the European frustration as exemplified by those stupid bottle caps: we do have much bigger issues and politicians seem to spend an innapropiate amount of time and resources on trivial things like that instead of tackling the real problems.

3

u/No-Programmer7914 3h ago

Come on, really? I think the EU is capable of doing different things parallely. (And plastic litter IS a real problem btw)

3

u/Donhitmeyer 6h ago

I like it too. No more searching for the cap.

1

u/i5aac92 6h ago

Commenting on something you find annoying is completely normal.

1

u/Buntschatten 4h ago

That's not true. The first generation was shit but now that they have the mechanism to lock it into place it works well.

1

u/Ring_Peace 3h ago

They don't have to be attached, if you want you can rip the fucker off if it disturbs you that much. Just trying to keep little bits of plastic out of nature.

1

u/Scr4p 2h ago

I love them because I have coordination issues and I was going insane with how often I've dropped bottle lids, glad they've been introduced here a few years ago.

1

u/IlIllIIllIIlllIII 1h ago

I had to use one without the attachment teh other day and I was baffled. Like why am i using both my hands to drink from a bottle? Then I realized I preferred them attached. Especially when you're out and about, which is basically the only time I get a bottle drink, a cap being attached is super helpful. I got used to pulling it out a bit so it screws back on easy.

2

u/NightSalut 3h ago

Maaannn, that was a very controversial change when it happened.

Funny, when I went outside the EU and encountered bottles without the tag, I realised I had gotten so used to them already!

1

u/TheDefiantGoose 5h ago

I do not understand why we don't do that here. It's the easiest, simplest innovation that would have a huge impact on convenience and possibly cutting back on litter.

1

u/swammeyjoe 3h ago

Did you also try to absolutely rip that thing off the first couple times? I know I did...

1

u/sixothree 6h ago

I saw a video of someone in China opening a soda can. It had a pull tab.

1

u/HotAcanthisitta621 3h ago

I like them.

-4

u/romprod 5h ago

It's so the cap is recycled with the bottle..... I'm unsure why

They annoy the hell out of me.

4

u/dropkickoz 5h ago

It's not. It's to prevent bottle cap litter from ending up in the ocean.

3

u/Happy_Survivor 4h ago

Thank you :) Just reading this and wondering why people don't know this. In these days I would assume that people know this.
