One of my cat only drinks water out of tall glasses now, like a gentleman.

Cats hate drinking water next to their food source. It’s a primal thing because they think the water will be contaminated by having food next to it. Most house cats are dehydrated because of this. Since i learned this I’ve placed coffee mugs around my house that I refill periodically and my cats Love it. They stay super hydrated and shiny.

We had a cat who loved to sneak water if you set a cup on the floor. He had FIV and towards the end he wouldn't drink water anymore so we tricked him with putting red solo cups of water all over the house so he'd drink from them like a lil sneak lol

Accounting, and that damned cat has been nagging me about my spending ever since.

Someone should have warned you. This can be very taxing.

When my dog stretched when getting up from laying down I would say, "bow to your sensei" and now I can get him to stretch by saying it.

My childhood cat would only drink moving water, so when I finally put my foot down to have him drink out of a bowl, I stirred it to show him there was water in there, and from then on, he would stir his water with his paw before every drink.

One of my cats will sometimes dip her paw in the water dish and lick the water off. We call it piggy dippin'.

Idiot relative of a visiting friend taught the dog to do stairs before we wanted.

Dog was still having some nervous or excited pee problems which were a whole lot easier when restricted to non-carpeted main floor.

I order DoorDash so often that now my dogs consider it part of their daily dinner service. If dinner has not arrived, they let me know that I have not eaten.

If you go outside and do your business you get a little treat when you come back in.

They’ve figured out I didn’t put any caveats on that. So now they go out and lift a leg ever so briefly.

I’m potty training a lab puppy which is proving difficult because I live downtown and she’s a nervous girl. I totally get your situation.

I’m fairly sure I taught one of them to think “FOR FCK SAKE” is its name on account of how stupid it is.

I taught my dog to not come inside unless offered a treat.

I taught him lollipops exist and now he is a menace for a Dum-dum lollipop. Tried to get in my lap on a Zoom call because he wanted one and they were up. He is 125 pounds

She parents my children. She’s noticed what things they do that I don’t allow when I’m not paying attention and tries to herd them into time out 😂

That when I put on pants they get kibbles cause I’m leaving. Sometimes I’m just putting on pants. But no, mostly no pants.

Mine flips out if I put on shoes

When I say "toes" she eats what I dropped on the floor and am helpfully pointing at with my toes.

My dog thinks Everytime I start to roll a joint it’s time to walk - to be fair, 1/2 the time it is, but she reacts the second I open the pouch of bud

Waking me up at 2am for a treat.

How to ask to play with the laser by shoving it over to us.

If that doesn't work then he gets in front of the tv until we use it to move him.

u/BurgerThyme 6h ago

If they step on my face I will get up to feed them.

u/CrypticFishpaste 6h ago

Jump and spin 360 degrees in the air. Thought that what spin meant...what have I done?

Crying means attention

My parents taught the cat that we will buy more expensive food if she begs.

I taught my Golden Retriever to speak for treats. Now she barks her head off every time I open the food bin for dinner. I’m convinced she thinks she’s speaking to get fed.

Fetch with a shoelace. He's fat and lazy and when he gave up playing I'd throw the shoelace towards him. So he picks it up and brings it back now

To take her pills. She wouldn’t get fed until she took her medicine. Turns out yelling “eat it” over and over and ‘rewarding’ her with her food after she ate it works surprisingly well. I dropped her pill one day accidentally and told her to eat it as a joke, and she swallowed it right down. Food motivation is a great thing.

One of our dogs whines/groans when she has to go outside to do her thing. Our other dog will look at me everytime he hears the whining because he knows that he will get to go outside too and is waiting for me to say the words

2

u/CraptasticFanDango 6h ago

Taught our mini schnauzer to use a tinkle bell to go outside and go potty. It was working great until she changed the rules and decided it was LET ME OUT NOW! Anytime my husband went outside, she would incessantly ring it nonstop so she could be with him. Had to take it away, because I couldn't take it anymore.

My dog loses her shizit when she hears an electric car because my parents drive an electric car and she thinks Granny and Grandpa are here to visit Her Majesty.

I wear a CPAP to bed. I accidentally taught my cat it's ok to sleep on my face because I can still breathe. My cat sometimes tries it with my husband then can't understand why he gets pushed off.

A couple of things.

I taught my cat to come and find me when jangled my keys when coming home. I could be round the block, jingle them, and he's come running and meowing like a lunatic.

I also taught him to follow me on walks with the dog, and he's just follow me anytime I left the house.

And I taught my mum's dog a few visual commands. Like, if I put a finger to my lip, he'd know to be quiet. If I clapped one hand a few times he'd know it's time for scratches. Palm facing up for sit, palm facing the floor for lay down.

He passed a few years ago

Mine automatically think that if I’m standing in the kitchen between the sink and the island, they will get treats.
