Discussion Asmon's influence failed this time.

Post image

I wonder why the game's not popular, it looks decent, and it's not 60-70 bucks either.

Too many games to play

This.

Enshrouded, aion 2, wow, valheim, exc exc. So many games are releasing— not enough time any money to play them all.

Not to mention GTA is right around the corner, if you have to save for a game, it’s for GTA

and I only just beat part 1 of one character in fire emblem 😭

Because asmon never had real influence over a game’s success.

Think people overvalue his opinions on games sometimes. Guy was so Wow-pilled he missed out on over a decade of amazing games. Its a miracle he played DS. If he drank the Blizzard koolaid a bit more, we may have had an Asmon that didn't play Elden Ring.

u/LOOT_BOXXX 11h ago

I think the people that hate him over value his opinion tbh.

13

u/Silver_Storage_9787 10h ago

Not really, we value his opinions. But aren’t sheeple waiting for his every command.

u/RaspberryPleasant583 8h ago

Yeah I kinda agree, I think people are overthinking about streamer or influencer when it comes to games, what one person’s beliefs are the majority reasons whether he supports the game or not, if he’s a fan he may tend to find the same mindset from other people to support his opinion, vice versa. For people who don’t know a new game and haven’t decided to buy it or not, they might watch the gameplay to decide rather than listen to the opinion to decide. Especially when the opinion comes from a gamer who didnt finish a game.

Was it marketed that much? I remember the reveal but after that I barely saw anything about it.

12

u/Justinaug29 10h ago

At least their budget wasn’t 400 million

Fym Asmongold's influence failed? He never has influence if a game can do well or not. I think yall live in a shell if you think the gaming community wants to buy a game because the popular streamer is playing a game or not.

99% of the gaming community doesn't listen to what a streamer says or not whether you like it not. If the trailer is popular and the gameplay looks amazing then people will buy it, 99,99% of the gaming community really doesn't listen to streamers at all

u/christyanho 6h ago

I think it's just a joke to how whenever a game fails and Asmon dislikes it, many blame Asmon for the game failing and never the game itself for not being up to par.

2

u/guridkt 6h ago

Asmongold makes on average pretty good predictions and assessments for games so I'm guessing people confuse that with influence when he's right

6

u/Smart-Helicopter1539 12h ago

NO GAME will have success or failure because of Asmon or anyone else. The best they can do is to draw attention, that's it, and then people decide if they like it or not.

7

u/Salt_Percentage_3582 6h ago

or OR, the game is just mid?

3

u/TheCorpsemaker 6h ago

It's fantastic. There are just a lot of other popular releases at the moment imo.

1

u/Kiidkxxl 4h ago

imma be real... i think alot of PC players, have gamepass. this is a really solid gamepass game.

61

u/MandiocaGamer 13h ago

if people think he has any influence on games, people are delusional. 99% of people target of game industry doesn't even lnow about his existence

-44

u/brek1989 12h ago

Look at WoW Forever and tell me he has no influence. By influence, I mean giving the game more visibility to his viewers, who usually enjoy the same type of games.

20

u/MandiocaGamer 12h ago

asmon is famous because wow. out of wow and this sub almost no one knows him.

-18

u/Jarvis_Jarvison 12h ago

he's the no. 1 streamer in the world...

-15

u/Wild-Ambassador-5280 12h ago

No one knows the number 1 political streamer in the world?

8

u/MandiocaGamer 10h ago

he is like average 30 to 50k viewers. Even Kaicenat got more viewers. Team Fortress 2 have 100k players, a very old game. Do you think he really have any weight in the gaming industry? LMAO.

2

u/Classic-Tone4273 7h ago

almost no one outside of america/twitch/kick

2

u/NutellaOrgies 10h ago

Wow forever was already going to be huge.

1

u/isnV7 9h ago

???? Are you good lol ? Wow forever is the biggest thing in mmos in a decade. He's a drop of water in the ocean

12

u/DackNoy 13h ago

I didn't think it was as good as he made it out to be but that's just me.

15

u/Jeje3011 13h ago

Way too much competition. Dragon dogma2 dlc, crimson dlc, castlevania, phantom blade 0, ff resonance, gta6; zelda ocarina and this is coming from a packed september already. Why they all decided to release togheter is absurd considering that december is rather free.

3

u/Anarchy841207 12h ago

They don't want to follow GTA VI release as they will just fade into obscurity during the inevitable hype window.

1

u/bigsteve72 1h ago

People keep saying this, but the human mind just operates different now that we're all so jacked into quick dopamine hitting activities. GTA VI is going to be STELLAR. People are gonna play it for ages, but seriously 6 months in, and people will get to playing other games again.

1

u/Electrical_Title7960 12h ago

not me playing dd2da

1

u/bigsteve72 1h ago

Somehow enshrouded is killing it right now lol, I honestly thought they had no chance after Valheim.

8

u/Noxilar 12h ago

It was almost like we watched a different game or something

From what he’s saying it was an absolutely a great game, but from what i saw on his stream it looked mid af (at best)

but that’s ok, just different taste in games

3

u/N0va-Zer0 11h ago

The killer is the parry window and mechanics. You can't just tap parry like every other game. You have to hold it the entire time .5 seconds before the parry to the point that it basically feels like you're blocking.

Unless you are within a nanosecond of the timing, just tapping parry will not parry. You must hold the parry button, which feels very clunky and makes you unlearn all past normalized parry mechanics in other games.

1

u/Noxilar 5h ago

yeah, gotta admit from your description it sounds absolutely awful

1

u/Kiidkxxl 4h ago

??? this is not how it works for me lol... i just tap it and it parries.

1

u/N0va-Zer0 2h ago

Like I said, if you tap it PERFECTLY on the attack it works. Which is not how other souls games work. You should get a window. There is no traditional "tap" window in Valor Mortis UNLESS you hold the parry button and treat it like a block during the parry window.

You don't have a golden copy of the game. Just google what I said. Even the developers acknowledged it.

1

u/Kiidkxxl 2h ago

i was just looking for clarification on what you meant... i realize now that the "???" comes off a bit rude... maybe just something i adapted to and never noticed.

4

u/StoneShadow812 12h ago

There’s an absolute ton of games out right now. Anyone with a an actual life can’t play everything that’s out at the moment and there’s already 3 big games coming out real soon people are saving for.

4

u/Veidrinne 11h ago

Less of it failed, and more of there's too much out rn. I have Aion 2, wardogs season 2, maid cafe, ace combat 8, hood warfare, bolt gun 2, Galactic Racer, Hellraiser.....you get my point? We also got GTA and forever dropping soon

3

u/Head-Tumbleweed2565 WHAT A DAY... 13h ago

It’s really buggy, waiting for a big patch , was having awesome time with it, a shame

7

u/New-Resident3385 10h ago

Isnt the souls like genre insanely saturated at this point?

6

u/No-Length-2536 13h ago

It's okay, but parry gameplay gets annoying really fast. I'd rather play another playthrough of Tainted Grail instead

7

u/Toba677 12h ago

The game looked terrible. Just because he likes it doesn't mean his audience are sheep and follow what he does.

2

u/Ghengis-KhanOfficial 13h ago

The game so far is fucking great. Got it for 25 off loaded. Seems worth the money

2

u/InfectiousT 12h ago

Came out in stacked month, gonna pick it up on sale eventually

2

u/Sewari 12h ago

Asmon at best can give visibility to games but he can't turn a bad game into a success or a good game into a failure.

Personally i don't think it's really that great as Asmon made it out to be.

2

u/CoxStrong 12h ago

Asmon can help kill games but not necessarily sell them.

2

u/TeemoTomato 11h ago

Also this is on gamepass, so not a complete picture. Based on timing around gears, which likely caused a spike in gamepass subs, probably had a bigger more people playing on gameplay than steam than usual.

2

u/obFlimbo 10h ago

Bad timing… I’m playing through Witcher 3 again trying to finish before gta. This game does look really good but there’s just not enough hours in the day

2

u/sheemerish 10h ago

Who's to say that it wouldn't have had less otherwise? I never heard of it aside from him playing it.

2

u/PjGamer007 9h ago

ngl this game don't look even worth pirating to me

2

u/GoofyGoober82 6h ago

Play the trial or demo....that turned me off. Im like hours and hours of this? Nah.

2

u/DrudanTheGod 12h ago

Guy barely has an influence, he just usually shares the common opinion.

1

u/Alert-Sky9711 12h ago

There is a lot to play right now and Enshrouded 1.0 just came out. It’s a great game and Coh is really liking it too.

1

u/matzy_2000 12h ago

I still don’t see the point judging a games steam performance when it’s been on gamepass, day one.

1

u/Kadderly 11h ago

There is a lot of games coming out before GTA6. I have every intention to play it, but I finished mortal shell 2, about to finish Fire Emblem, getting Final Fantasy Resonance and Phantom Blade Zero. Maybe sometime after that I will find the time for Valor Mortis in 2027.

1

u/Significant_Rule6003 9h ago

I hope this game does well it’s on my wish list. But at the moment I’m playing Witcher 3 remastered. And I’ve already bought the dlc for dragons dogma 2. So that will be next, I saw asmon playing Valor Mortis and it looks to me like someone’s finally nailed first person melee combat. Man we eating good recently.

1

u/kukurma <message deleted> 6h ago

I watched a bit, found this game very boring and returned to Grind Dawn. There is skull event in v2 too so nope, not interested. Even considering that there is barely any game released this year, wouldn’t play it.

1

u/Carbone 6h ago

It's on game pass

1

u/MeisterOfSandwiches 5h ago

The problem is Sept/Oct release windows is inundated with other games people are excited for.

1

u/sekkumomo 4h ago

I just don't see a lot of hype around it.
The game looks good to me personally, but I feel like this would be a kind of game I'd play after Onimusha, ACE COMBAT, Phantom Blade Zero and other new games coming out I would prioritize so it would stay in the queue for a long time.

1

u/IMREADY2D1E Dr Pepper Enjoyer 4h ago

it’s a soulslike they will never ever ever amount to fromsoft that’s why. for me, i stick to fromsoft i don’t really play souls like games they feel like generic rip offs

1

u/badrott1989 4h ago

its just that so many games and DLC came out recently.

1

u/Saltybot_v1 2h ago

I feel like this isnt a massive failure? Sure its not a monumental success at 3000 peak players. Typically the amount of people who buy a game is somewhere around 10 to 20x that peak. So if we have 30,000 sales. At 40 a pop for a game that cost 40. That's probably 1.2 mil on the low end. But its a tough time to sell. And it can make more over time. Also this is just steam numbers. I didn't see if it came out on any other platforms. It has the same peak player count as star wars outlaws and that probably has a budget 20 to 30 x the size

1

u/merdimerdi WHAT A DAY... 1h ago

It's a boring pretentious slop game... Souls-wannabe, failed Dishonored

1

u/Shinobu420 12h ago

Well he has 0 influence over any game's success so it's not surprising that much

1

u/XiTzCriZx Paragraph Andy 10h ago

The reason for it is likely that the developers are just kinda shit. Go look at steam charts for all their previous games, they were barely even able to break 10k players on Ghostrunners. Clearly they're not improving their games enough to be interesting to a broad audience.

1

u/LouisFischerXV 10h ago

Well, game isn't bad, but it's not something ground breaking neither. We're at 2026 , new games come out everyday but we have less and less time to play game due to adults responsibility, that's suck only game with super great quality can survive nowadays, or very good at PR/marketing like Wardogs...

People usually have 2 hours of free time daily and they rather back to their "cave" game which they been playing for years like Apex, wow , tarkov , COD or somehow convinced to try some new AAA which is very famous. Even unemployed gamers prefer something new not soul-like anyway

1

u/Odd-Fun-1482 8h ago

I think people are fatigued by all the 'mortis' death and decay themeing that has been happening for the past 4 years

0

u/Most_Accountant_5946 11h ago

Probably because people have already played this game 5 times this year alone, just with a different title.

0

u/wera125 11h ago

Name first person souls game. Just any.... Like Last 10 years

0

u/Most_Accountant_5946 10h ago

Changing the camera perspective doesn't make a game unique. Marvel Rivals is very similar to Overwatch, even if one is 3rd person and the other 1st person.

0

u/Discorhy 13h ago

game pass vesion doesnt show here, the playerbase is more like 20-30k playing if you count gamepass numbers.

0

u/chrisman96 12h ago

Using steamdb as a metric for a games success is kinda dumb tbh. Look up sifu and based on those nums guess how many copies were sold.

0

u/StoneTheMoron 12h ago

It’s on XBOX Game Pass that’s why, look at all game pass games and you’ll realise it’s a similar pattern.

0

u/Amazing-Application2 9h ago

Estos juegos te comen la Vida y teniendo aion 2 que tiene mejor "trama" la verdad que no me interesa otros juegos ahora.

-2

u/Armata-Strigoi 11h ago

The game seems like an mediocre souls like copy same thing as onimusha
