How to set up Automod?

Hello! I recently made a sub and was wondering on how to set up Automod within it, since I've seen and been in a lot of subs with it active.

If your subreddit did not have automod before Oct 2026, then you will not be able to use the `action` command to approve, remove, filter, or report items.

If that is the case, then you would need to use https://developers.reddit.com/apps/automod-neo or Automations instead.

I actually created it one day ago, so which one would I need to use?

then you would only be able to use classic automoderator for:

• comment replies,
• modmail,
• adjusting user flair or post flair,
• locking posts or comments,
• setting spoiler/nsfw tags,
• setting comment sorts,
• adjusting crowd control, and
• setting sticky posts.

I would suggest AutoMod-Neo for most or all of that instead, as it can do 90% of what classic automod could plus about 20% extra stuff.

They recently started disabling automod for new subs, so you probably can’t. Take a look at the recent posts on r/modnews
