question Can someone please adopt the poor cockatoo

Post image
• Upvotes

This bird lives in bad conditions and is unwanted by the owner. Can someone please give him a better home. Please. It looks faded, living all alone in a small cage roadside in a corner that smells of smoke and weed.
Talked to the people who run the clothes store and the Indian restaurant, they want to get rid of it. It’s located 37 chakkraphong road, chansonkram, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200 - opposite Rocco and same roadside, close by is also the temple
Wat Chana Songkhram Ratchaworamahawihan

The cuckatoo is all alone and sad. Please, is here a good soul, someone to adopt the birdie! I am a tourist, I don’t know what else to do but ask here Bangkok.

Started exploring Bangkok seriously this weekend and the first stop was Wat Paknam..

Even though it was a Sunday, it wasn’t as crowded as other temples in Bangkok. Loved sitting in the small garden within the temple premises. Overall quite peaceful and recommended if you want a slightly relaxed and peaceful experience compared to the main temples…

question Best banking options moving on from Revolut

Hi there,

I do not want to use Revolut any longer since their 2nd mayor F**K up, their systems have stopped working worldwide. Wise, seems like the better option although I'm not a fan of those fintech options. I am living here under a DTV visa and Dutch.

What I don't want:

  • No home country bank (I don't live any longer there so, I can't have a bank account.
  • True money (fun for small purchases not a daily driver)

What are my options? I'm considering opening a US LLC together with a US provider.

For context, the owner of the post is Chinese, the Karen is a foreigner, the Airbnb defender is also a foreigner, Karen's friend in the last comment is also a foreigner. There's mostly foreigners living in this building.

Those Airbnb's are mostly own by Thai and Chinese people.

What do Thais think about this?

question Ghost stories

I know that spirits are taken more seriously here than in the west, but I’d still like to talk with people about some of their experiences or old family stories.

Unfortunately I don’t know where to start to find these folks and I do not speak thai. Sooooo, I need an interpreter and where to find the storytellers. Any suggestions?

event Meetups? Nomads, Crypto, Traders, Ecom, Business Owners

• Upvotes

Wondering if theres any meetups in Bangkok for nomads, crypto, traders, Ecom, or Business Owners.

Basically looking to find likeminded growth seekers. People that didn’t move/come here just to party and spend their time at the bars.

Also if anyone knows the best spots to look at for when and where conventions come to Bangkok, doesn’t matter what kinds just looking to see what expos come through here as I know there are a lot.

If you have any sites to find things like this please share.

legal Cannabis prescription

Hey everyone! I’m traveling to Bangkok tomorrow and I’m 19. I understand that smoking cannabis in public can get you fined, and I want to avoid getting into trouble with the police.
If I get a medical cannabis prescription in Thailand, does that protect me if a police officer catches me smoking in public? Would showing them the prescription mean I’m legally allowed to smoke, or could I still get fined?
Also, can a 19-year-old legally get a medical cannabis prescription in Thailand, and is it easy to obtain one in Bangkok?
Also let’s say that I can’t get a prescription, can I still smoke in alleyways and easily avoid police?
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who knows the current laws or has personal experience. Thanks!

question Who knows places in BKK that can jailbreak my Switch 1 OLED

I am in BKK and brought my Switch 1 OLED version.

Want to run homebrew software on it. It can be done by some soldering work.

Does anyone had it done here already or does know a shop that can do it?

travel 2 specific recommendations

  1. What's a safe not super expensive place to party as a couple? We don't want solicitations , just drinks and some dancing. Budget is about 150 USD . Rooftop ones preferred. Also what's the best time to enter clubs in BKK when it's crowded but not overly so?

  2. Where can I find cute cases for samsung z flip 8 in BKK? I saw a thai insta creators post but she didn't respond. Think quirky cases, charms, razmatazz. Thank you all!

healthcare Testing Generic Drugs in Thailand

After watching the recent John Oliver episode, I'd really like to have an ingredient check / potency test for a generic drug I'm taking. Is there an independent lab in Bangkok that does this?

tourism In town next week -- Good hangs for old souls?

My partner (Lao, early-30s) and I (US, early-30s) will be staying in one of the quieter sois near Nana Station. We're both quiet, introverted, and kinda nerdy. Not really interested in the nightlife, but chose the area for its central location and access to public transit. Neither of us have been to Bangkok before. Neither of us drink or smoke.

We have some ideas for places we want to check out, but I haven't seen much in terms of like historical museums or book shops and the like? Are there any popular spots for people like us? Card/hobby shops? In my time in Lao I don't think I've ever seen geeky D&D, TTG type stuff; where can I get my fix?

Any recommendations in general would be greatly appreciated. ขอบคุณมากครับ 🙏

Extra context: We live in and speak Lao (which means we understand like 65-75% of Thai, lol) so the language isn't a barrier for us when traveling around. I'm personally very excited to finally get some real American food again if we can find any good soul food-type places? I'm originally from the southern US but have been living in a little village up north since the COVID era.

healthcare Invisalign recommendation in Bangkok? (For non resident)

Hey there I’ve heard some great things about the dental care in Bangkok and I’m thinking to get myself Invisalign there.

Any personal recommendations?

I will be travelling in and out of Bangkok (don’t live in Thailand, but 2 hours flight away) so a clinic that knows how to work with such situations will be very recommended! Not sure if it’s too much hassle, but I fly around the world and don’t live anywhere long enough to be fair…
