[Playthrough/Gear Breakdown] "Receptor" Bass Playthrough (Prog Metal) – 5-string setup, tone chain, & technical challenges

Craig here from the progressive metal band Dissona. We just released a full bass playthrough for our track "Receptor", and I wanted to drop in and break down the gear, tone, and some of the musical intricacies found throughout the piece.

🎸 The Gear & Signal Chain

• Bass: Fodera Custom Monarch 5-String
• Tuning: D Standard (FCGDA)
• Strings & Gauge: Ernie Ball Regular Slinky
• Preamp / Tone: Darkglass B7K V2 -> Ashdown ABM 500

💡 Playing & Arrangement Notes

• The hardest section: Bars 189-212, sections labeled "Converge" and "Devotion" are the toughest spots for me just because of the endurance needed for them. The entire piece itself is pretty demanding overall but I need to make sure and keep something in the tank to nail that part when performing live 😅
