News & Events City of Bastrop Data Center Community Forum to be held 10/29
facebook.comFrom the linked post:
“The City of Bastrop is providing the Bastrop Convention & Exhibit Center for this upcoming community forum. Citizens are encouraged to submit questions to the panel, see link below. More info:
An Informational Discussion About Data Centers and Our Community
Bastrop County Conservatives will host a community forum on Thursday, October 29, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Bastrop County Convention & Exhibition Center to provide Bastrop County residents with an opportunity to learn more about data centers, how they operate, and their role in our community. The forum is intended to be informational.
There will be no political agenda, campaign materials, or political signs allowed inside the meeting area.
Panelists confirmed:
Todd Workman — Economic Development & Community Engagement, EdgeConneX
Constantyn Gieskes — Chief Development Officer, Pacifico
David Falcone — Project Manager, Black Chamber
Additional participants may be added as confirmations are received.
Submit Your Questions in Advance. To ensure your questions are represented at the forum, please send them in advance to:
https://forms.gle/ZYCgmERkygwaRzbTA
Questions will be reviewed and provided to the panelists in advance, giving them an opportunity to research the issues and provide accurate, thoughtful responses.
Why submit your question in advance?
Data centers involve complicated issues involving power, water, taxes, economic development, infrastructure, technology, construction, noise, environmental, community support and other areas. Providing questions to the panelists ahead of time gives them an opportunity to research the issue and provide a thoughtful, accurate and complete response, rather than attempting to answer an important question without adequate information.
Audience Questions Will Also Be Accepted
Audience participation will be an important part of the forum. Questions may be submitted electronically during the event and will be provided to the moderator. The moderator will ask reasonable and relevant questions sent at the event, as time permits. Because the forum is limited to approximately two hours, we cannot guarantee that every question submitted during the event will be addressed. Submitting your question in advance provides the best opportunity for it to be included in the discussion.
Keeping the Forum Respectful and Productive
To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to hear the information and that the panelists can provide meaningful answers:
There will be no audience microphones or verbal questions from the floor.
Questions submitted electronically, the day of the event and will be presented by the moderator, as time permits.
The moderator will manage the discussion and time.
Outbursts, interruptions and political grandstanding will not be permitted.
Anyone disrupting the forum will be removed from the facility.
Law enforcement officers will be present.
This format is designed not to limit participation, but to maximize it. Everyone will have an opportunity to submit questions without having to compete for a microphone or listen to someone stating their personal opinions or political agenda. This is an opportunity for the panelists to speak and the audience to receive information.
We Want to Hear From You
Whether you support, oppose, or simply have questions about data centers, we want to hear your questions. Our goal is to provide Bastrop County residents with an opportunity to hear directly from people involved in data center development and operations and to receive factual information that can help our community better understand their role in our lives. All reasonable questions will be addressed to the panelists.
Thursday, October 29 5:30–7:30 p.m. Bastrop County Convention & Exhibition Center
Additional information regarding how to submit questions and event details will be announced shortly. We hope you'll join us.”

Discussion Hello 👋 wondering if bastrop is a welcoming place? We're thinking of moving our family down there from Washington/ idaho area.
Husband wants to work at starlink, I'm just wondering what is like, what to expect so I'll be ready. We have a couple small kiddos. Can anyone please recommend a "safe for families " area with a community pool? Thank you!

News & Events Public Bulletin Boards
Hey all, I’m looking to promote some volunteer opportunities here in Bastrop. I’ve got some flyers I created with QR codes to help people sign up, but I’m not really sure where to put them. Do y’all know of any bulletin boards in public spaces or businesses where I could put them up? I work in Bastrop but live in Manor, so I’m not too familiar with the town

We currently have 3 upcoming shows at Lee County Arts Center. Our last 2 shows there sold out, and our show at the Lumberyard in Bastrop sold out as well.

Discussion Bastrop country leaders are ruining Texas
There is no accountability for these data centers that are plaguing Bastrop County now. The lands are being cleared of our local nature, the resources are being stolen from local Texans and none of the Bastrop country leaders are stepping up to provide transparency. Seems like their pockets are being lined by these foreign data center companies.
Anyone have more information on this?
