Discussion Give me your deepest Mac Dre cuts
just heard a new (to me) Mac Dre song on this sub.. that one with dubee.. now I’m wondering how many other Mac Dre songs are out there that I’ve never heard before. Been one of my favorite rappers since middle school when I first heard Thizz Dance on the radio in 04 and been on many a deep dives ever since. But never thought of asking here. So… let me hear what you got, that you think might be mor new to my ears.

I only started listening to him two three years ago to be honest. November 2004 I was gripping crib bars, plus I’m from across the pond but that’s my favourite rapper on a level so I’ll drop a few tracks the average might not know. Like a guy before me said a lot of his best verses will be on some random guy’s tape that you’ve never heard of.
Beware that you’re listening to a snitch when PSD plays so you might wanna skip him on anything he’s on, me personally I don’t but just a heads up
You can split the sound into different eras like the other guy said, he was evolving all the time with different styles and beats, normally you can tell what period a song is from by his delivery and certain slang used. I’ll do 3 categories
Early (recorded 1989-1992) (before pen):
Not Mac Dre but the Mac’s ‘The Game is Thick’ is on YouTube and is like a precursor to what became Mac Dre’s style so it’s worth checking out
The ‘Supa Sig Tapes’ project released in the 2010s contains diss tracks from The Mac Nd Mac Dre’s hood against Little Bruce Celly Cel and the Clicks hood.
This era is the one I know least about, you can find demos on YouTube if you look hard enough. Most of his stuff from this time is easily accessible just look for What’s Really Goin On and Younh Black Brotha the album

On the Dubee song you’re talking about from Westways Dre uses a verse similar to the one on ‘Mac Drevious’ so if you’ve not heard that check it out. ‘Hold Off’ from the same album slaps too

Mac Dre has one of the biggest catalogues of any rapper...ever, if you include all the songs he has featured on.
Im honestly not even a fan of his later hyphy/thizz phase. His Young Mac Dre phase is wild because it's so 80s sounding and he sounds so young. He has his over the payphone from jail phase. Etc etc
