You should see what the babies look like!
They're actually beautiful.

Wait. The adult has tiny ears. They do not look the same? Honestly the baby doesn’t look real.

u/thegoatsupreme Aug 15 '26
They must go through some serious shit as a teen to look the way they do as an adult... I get goat, I get it.

This cutie is more fitting of the Labyrinth lullaby that the cameraman is humming in OP’s video…

The babies are actually what I thought fully grown Damascus goats looked like. They are adorable with their long floppy ears. Big goat have been doing some heavy propaganda with the Damascus goat. I'm shook after learning what they grow up to look like!
44
u/Petraretrograde Aug 14 '26
I really want to see a month-to-month progression of what they look like as they grow up. Like at what point do they go from cartoon adorable to hideous beast monster
9
u/Carl_Slimmons_jr Aug 15 '26
These are two different breeds of goat. Their skulls don’t magically start changing shape
3
6
u/I_Makes_tuff Aug 15 '26
They are both Damascus goats. According to this Newsweek article, the big ugly ones are breeding stock.

Imagine every possible mutation a goat can have due to inbreeding plus some human DNA gets in there along the way, that's this goat breed and it's unfortunately real
Plus before achieving it's demonic adult form, it looks absolutely absolutely angelic as a goatlet.

Just FYI - A baby goat is called a "kid" or gendered "doeling" or "buckling". I do like goatlet better though haha

There are big ass rhinos with a horn, big ass birds with a horn, big ass beetles with a horn, big ass whales with a horn, smaller fishes with a horn, lizards with a horn. So many animals rockin a single horn.
And then something like a normal horse with a horn turns out to be a ridiculous mythical creature that farts rainbows.
I feel like adult life is upside down world

u/Bake_Knit_Run Aug 14 '26

How's he deformed? They all look like that, the adult ones that is
14
u/Acrobatic_Rush7653 Aug 15 '26
All the adult ones are deformed, yes. From centuries of targeted breeding. Many other domestic goat breeds are not deformed and still look quite similar to wild goats / ibex.
4
u/FaithlessnessOld2477 Aug 15 '26
I don't know anything about the species, just relaying what the low budget show was telling me at 2 am.
Sad to hear that's the typical look and that the show was drumming up controversy over nothing. 😉

I could easily imagine this goat being the reason that goats are associated with witchcraft and satanic worship.

u/al666in Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 15 '26
It's also because sacrificing goats and drinking their blood was a big part of a lot of pagan rituals.
Christians, who have much more refined taste in what kind of blood they drink at their rituals, decided that goats were diabolical. "Sheep go to heaven, goats go to hell." (
Revelation 20:11‑15Matthew 25:31–46).30
u/AdMaximum7545 Aug 14 '26
Wasnt the literal origin of the word scapegoat about sacrificing a goat with all the people's sins pinned on it to god?
40
u/al666in Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26
Almost - the scapegoat wasn't killed, it was sent away from the village to "a desolate place" to bear the burden of the sins.
Edit: I actually didn't know the full ritual until reading my own link. It involves two goats. One is released (that's the escape goat), the other is indeed sacrificed ("for the Lord").
20
u/AdMaximum7545 Aug 15 '26
Religion is weird 😕
2
u/olivebranchsound Aug 15 '26
You say that until one time you don't do it and the village gets washed away in a flash flood or something lol coincidence is a powerful force for animals who specialize in pattern recognition
3
u/AdMaximum7545 Aug 15 '26
Yeah then we used pattern recognition to recognise we seek patterns and no longer equated disaster to lack of sacrifise
9
u/Humble-Page-4845 Aug 14 '26
Fuck that would be nice. I can continue to be a piece of shit, sacrifice a goat for my sins like once a month, and keep on keepin on.
10
7
u/Acrobatic_Rush7653 Aug 15 '26
Revelation 20:11‑15
Nope, that has nothing to say about goats (or animals in general). You're thinking of Matthew, but that was a clear parable not an indictment of goats specifically. But I'm sure misinterpretation of this passage contributed to demonization of goats.
When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
3
u/al666in Aug 15 '26
That's so embarrassing, I went with the AI summary when I googled and then didn't double check.
2
u/TaylorSwiftsClitoris Aug 14 '26
Also a great song by Cake
2
u/BayouByrnes Aug 15 '26
I sing this, "Sheep go to heaven, Adam's go to hell." I have a friend named Adam and he's my best friend's little brother, which makes him my little brother. So I've been singing this version on his birthday every year for at least 20 years.

u/IfICouldStay Aug 15 '26
Fun fact, horses have them as well. So do deer. But they usually have dark brown eye so the pupil shape isn’t apparent.

u/Deaffin Aug 15 '26
This leaves out the best/worst part.
The eyes rotate so that the slit is always level when they put their head down.

I think there’s pendants of these goats standing doing the arm up arm down evil pose thing lol. I saw it on a true crime thing.
6
u/420k2 Aug 14 '26
Is that pose actually intended to represent evil? I've seen it associated wih satanism but didn't think it was intended to be evil per se.
8
u/Emergency_Lie42 Aug 14 '26
The hand signs that baphomet holds simply represent the principle of "as above, so below". It means that what happens in the realm of spirit (this isn't my belief to be clear) also happens in the realm of man. As above (as it is in heaven) so below (so it is on earth).
I'd personally interpret it as a message of internal karma.
The more I learn about satanism the more I think that it's essentially a school of thought composed of all of the schools of thought that Christianity scorned.

Fun fact: the goat god in princess mononoke is based on the kamoshika, a real indigenous Japanese mountain goat that looks like a mythical creature cross between a deer and a wolf.

u/MarcyAutumnWrites Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26
Oh my god, you are right on the money with that description. What a strange animal. It's so crazy how you can be a whole-ass adult and someone on the internet can introduce you to a straight up pokemon that exists in the world.

Hensons Dark Crystal.

u/Deaffin Aug 15 '26
Yeah, mythically ruined by selective breeding efforts.
I seriously don't understand how anybody looks at any of these and sees anything other than horrific deformities, the suffering of an individual forcefully misshapen to amuse people.
