I went to the village to try and get one from the cafe over the road from the Abbey - but they weren't allowed to sell any.

Found it in a shop in Bruges instead - lovely beer though.

Eastern Europe. I've seen it somewhere few years ago but it cost like $30 for that tiny bottle. I know, it's special and desired but I couldn't afford it back then. What's the price of Westvleteten in your area?

Depends. Directly from the brewery (well, their cafe opposite the brewery) it works out at around€4.50 per bottle. Shops in Brussels it varies from about €12 to €17. The few bars that sell it typically charge about €20+
