Best Birmingham memory you wish you could relive?
Mine would be catching the Christmas Market with friends when it felt properly magical (and less overcrowded!). What about you- what moment or place in Brum makes you most nostalgic?

does brum have a queer scene?
i’ve lived in birmingham all my life but haven’t noticed any particular events or queer areas beyond pride and the gay village which seems to be all bars. i don’t do well in the bars because as a pakistani girl i don’t really blend in and i often feel left out
i feel like a lot of brummies are just very homophobic (likely the people i’m surrounded by) and it really upsets me. i just really feel like i’m lacking community and would love to meet people. i’m thinking coffee morning/book club kind of vibes but queer based because i’m a lesbian. any suggestions would be appreciated!

Is there seating in UPRAWR club?
I decided to go to uprawr for Halloween, however I am disabled and have quite a few disabilities including pots which requires me to sit down often and I cannot stand for more than a few minutes without fainting.
I always had on my bucket list to go to a Halloween party, I haven't been clubbing in a while and they have a Monster High night which I am really excited for because I love dressing up and Monster High is one of my autistic special interests. I booked a ticket without thinking since I have been to clubs before in the past and they had seating, however when I look at pictures it looks like there isn't anywhere to sit.
Is this true, and how is accessibility accomodations there etc? I am going alone so I would like to minimise the likelihood of me having a medical emergency.

Helping someone in need this Christmas
Hi everyone,
I hope this post is allowed.
As Christmas approaches, my family and I would love to give back and support a local family or an elderly person living alone in our community who might be finding things difficult with the cost of living this year.
We would love to help out with groceries, a Christmas food/treat hamper, or gifts to help make the holidays a little easier and brighter.
To protect your privacy, please do NOT comment publicly on this post. If you, or an elderly neighbor/family member you know in our local area would benefit from this, please send me a private message with a few details so we can prepare something suitable.
Everything will be kept completely confidential. The only thing we ask in return is that whenever you are in a position to help someone in the future, you pay it forward. 🤍

Safe and family friendly areas within 30 minutes of city centre
I am moving to Birmingham for a year because of work. I have to be within a 30 minute commute (walk/cycle or public transport) to the city centre. I have kids. If money was not an issue, where would you live? Edgbaston? Harborne? I’m from a safe country with minimal car theft and burglaries.

Uprawr Halloween
Hi everyone my friends and I are planning on coming to Birmingham for Halloween. We're going to Uprawr at Asylum but one of our friends doesn't have a ticket yet. We're looking around for resale tickets online, there's no dedicated place for resale, so I'm throwing a hail Mary here and wondering if anyone's got a ticket or a friend with a ticket that's no longer being used that they would be willing to sell us? Thanks!

➡️ Moving to Birmingham after 6 years in London | Need a reality check on the job market and housing options!
Hi everyone, 👋
I am planning a permanent move to Birmingham after spending 6 years working in fast-paced corporate client administration and business support roles in London.
I’ve spent the last 2 years continuing my career while based out in my home country, but my eyes are now set on Birmingham because London housing costs have just become completely unfeasible.
I’m planning a 2-week trip to Birmingham very soon and I'd love to get some realistic context from locals:
- What is a realistic salary expectation right now for mid-to-senior business support? I’ve heard worrying news about high unemployment in the West Midlands, is this accurate for office roles, or does a solid London background stand a decent chance?
- I reached out to a few big corporate agencies back in August to test the waters but got zero response (likely due to the "out of town" filter and time of the year). Are there specific boutique agencies or direct routes you recommend targeting instead?
- I'm not prioritising living in the city center. I'm looking for a safe, leafy neighbourhood with supermarkets and an easy train/tram commute. I'm a big concert-goer so ideally, I'd need an area where it's safe and easy to catch a late train back after a gig finishes in town. My budget is around £800–£950 for a studio. Which neighbourhoods should I focus on?
If anyone’s firm in the corporate hubs is currently looking for an experienced admin, I’d love to connect via DM!
Really appreciate any insider tips or reality checks. Thank you! 🙏

Looking to make new friends
Hello, I noticed an uptick in these kinds of posts and I thought I'd shoot my shot. There is no major context around me, just that I have never been good at making friends and am trying to change that. My last attempt was at a women's speed friending event and it just did not click lol.
Anyways,
24F
Computer geek
Cat person
Generally into alt/anime/anything weird culture despite not looking it
Loves industrial/EBM music
Can be artsy, currently making music on and off.
I'm aware of many alt spaces and frequent a lot of the nerdier shops around, but rarely go out after sunset, kind of a bummer since most places catering to my age bracket happen in the evening.
Thanks for reading.

Any idea if the Ashted Circus yellow box junction cameras are active ?
Many cars always end up in the yellow box junction at this intersection in Birmingham, wondering if the cameras here are active ? The car in front of me was texting and did not move forward so I got stuck in it for 5 seconds or so.

Help me find a house with a MASSIVE Halloween skeleton in Birmingham/Solihull! 💀🎃
Bit of a long shot, but hoping someone here knows the house I’m talking about!
Around 3 weeks ago (late September), we were driving somewhere around Birmingham, having set off from near Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull.
We passed a house with an absolutely MASSIVE skeleton Halloween decoration. It was roughly two storeys tall, attached to or positioned against the front of the house. Pretty hard to miss!
Unfortunately, we can’t remember exactly where we were driving. We think we might have been heading towards Birmingham city centre, but we’re not 100% sure.
We’ve been trying to find it again with no luck.
Does anyone know which house this might be or remember seeing it? Even a rough road or area would be amazing!
Would love to go back and see it again before Halloween! 🎃

Title: New to Birmingham and looking to make some new friends.
Hey everyone!
I’ve recently moved around Birmingham and started a new job, and I’m realising that making friends as an adult is harder than it sounds. I have some great friends back home, but moving cities means starting from scratch socially, and the good old 9–5 routine doesn’t exactly make meeting new people easy.
A little about me: I am 25 and a female, I love movies, trying new restaurants, going on walks, exploring new places, and I’m HUGE on travelling. I’m also looking to pick up a new hobby, so suggestions are welcome because my hobby list is looking a little sad right now. 😂
I’m always up for a fun conversation, random laughs, or a spontaneous plan. Would love to meet some girls to grab food with, explore Birmingham, or just hang out and have a good time.
If that sounds like your vibe, drop me a message!
