Any crypto card in Australia that actually works for hotels and car hire?
Going away later this year and trying to figure out whether any of these crypto cards are useful once you get past normal tap payments. Coffee and groceries are easy enough. I’m more interested in hotels and car hire where they put a hold on the card, because that’s usually where prepaid stuff gets weird.
Anyone in Australia actually used a crypto card for either and did the deposit go through normally and how long did it take to disappear afterwards?
Couldn’t care less about cashback tbh. I just don’t want to find out at the rental desk that the card won’t work.

Got caught by this in Brisbane once. Debit card worked everywhere else, rental desk still wouldnt take it for the bond. Had plenty in the account too. Since then I always check how the card is classified before booking anything.

Check before the trip how much the hotel or rental company actually puts on hold. Sometimes the deposit is a fair bit more than the booking itself, so you want enough room on the card before you get there.

Hotel and car-hire deposits are where prepaid and crypto-linked cards often become unreliable, because the merchant needs a pre-authorisation hold rather than a normal purchase. I’d use a conventional credit card for the deposit unless the issuer explicitly confirms hotel incidentals and rental holds, then keep the crypto card for ordinary spending.

Haven really thought of it that much but i went with Oobit because it shows classified as credit for Visa acceptance. Guess thats a lot more useful for hotels and car hire than another prepaid crypto card imo.
