And the moral of the story is????

u/Electrical_Archer504 1d ago
If you want Asian girls gotta bleach that skin

u/Successful-Scale-607 1d ago
Of course, Mei-Ling don't want no darkies, but why would the rival blow up a period pad factory after she fails the exam? She had cramps, so how does a lack of pads help or hurt her situation?
106
u/Electrical_Archer504 1d ago
The pads should be able to stop period cramps, anything else is considered failure
20
u/Successful-Scale-607 1d ago
Is that how pads work? I thought they were used to prevent blood from soaking through your clothes, I didn't know they helped with cramps

can't believe we have skin color-altering cream before cancer cure
edit: guys i meant something like a magical race changing cream that makes you pass off as an ethnically white person (like the picture above)
edit 2: or a fair-skinned asian as what the other user commented under this

u/HeftyArgument 1d ago
they've been a thing for a while, also injections, all manner of whacky cosmetic treatments, because there are places where the lighter your skin tone is the better you are perceived.
the fact that this person is fantasizing about a black guy who is whitening his skin is pretty ridiculous though lol, none of the people whitening their skin are trying to advertise it to the world.
29
u/adoreroda 1d ago
As you said, skin bleaching has been a thing for a while. But it generally resulted in bad results (such as unnatural looking skin, colour wise).
However, it seems like advancements have been made. This video is of a black woman talking about her bleaching treatment and for all intents and purposes it looks natural. She looks just like Trisha Paytas, lol.
15
u/Sad_Victory8516 1d ago
It doesn’t change the facial structure though, so it looks pretty unnatural but whatever floats her boat ig
10
u/adoreroda 1d ago
If she wanted to look Scandinavian, sure. But there are white women who have similar features like that, i.e. Trisha Paytas. But truthfully I just think she wanted to have pale skin first and foremost
If she wanted plastic surgery to look European facial feature wise, she probably would've had it already

Isn't that also what tanning lotion is?
27
u/Probably_UrNeighbor Supreme Divine Incarnate of the 24k Golden Toilet Plunger 🚽🪠 1d ago
well i mean like magically whitening the skin to the point one looks like an actual white person, but I stand corrected 😅. Tanning lotions aren't really a thing in my country so it never crossed my mind
14
u/Gilthoniel_Elbereth 1d ago
an actual white person
Pretty sure the guy on the right is Asian

To be fair, the "default" is a society preferring light skin, as it shows that the person didn't need to work outdoors. The preference for tanning is Western and rather recent.
6
u/EveningSquare7175 1d ago
Society is very ashamed of their true self then , because for most of our history we did work outside, farmers ,tradesmen worked outside, warriors fought outside.
(I don't agree with the logic because many standards have changed but the standard for fair skin is still unusually strong, some other factors push it nowadays, but let's ignore this.)
2
u/rogueIndy 21h ago
The tanning is still a class signifier, it shows you have the time and money for sunny holidays.

So he blew the factory up to get an upper hand on her?
97
u/lambda-lambda-lambda 1d ago
But pads don't help with cramps
Is he stupid?
23
58
u/RileyNonexistent 1d ago
No I think he blew the factory up because she is his rival and he wants her to have more period cramps so she fails more tests
51
u/escapadistfiction 1d ago
But pads... don't help.. with cramps.
Decreasing the number of available pads will have no effect on her cramping.

u/PeacefulAndTranquil 17h ago
you fail to consider periods are a conspiracy to sell more period pads

u/StressLife7080 1d ago
There was a "rumor" (idk if true or not, iirc it was true but I can't be bothered to look it up rn) that the brand Always would put some chemical in their period products to make women have longer, heavier and more painful (as a side effect) periods so they could sell more products.
10
u/Rafacat7 1d ago
I mean, it's an "aways period" pad factory, so apparently they are evil and making woman aways have periods to sell pads? Now, don't ask me how that works.

Yeah, gotta have a really unhinged rival for a good enemies-to-lovers story, apparently
1
u/DanHam117 19h ago
No he’s a chaotic good rival who is book smart but a dumbass in every other way. He doesn’t understand anything about periods, but he knows that his rival only lost this round on a technicality so he will give her an advantage by any means necessary just to get a fair fight next time.
He’s wrong, but it’s noble endeavor (unless you are an innocent factory worker)

u/XavierTheMemeDragon 1d ago
This is a level of racism that I’ve been blessedly unaware of until this moment

I feel like they really wanted to use that image yet somehow also wanted them to be Black and they thought this was the way to compromise.

You might want to go to settings and turn off the thing where YouTube shares your actual government name with anyone who clicks on your link when you share a YouTube video.
26
u/jakethabake 1d ago
What kind of feature is that lol, wtf google
4
u/NotADamsel 1d ago
Near as I can tell, YouTube is trying to emulate Instagram, who also does this. Because someone at Google decided that just copying features without thinking for two goddamn nanoseconds about the differences between the other platform and it, was the right way to operate.

Who the fuck has an "academic rival"? These people clearly don't have the same school experience I did.
40
u/profuselystrangeII 23h ago
This is absolutely a thing. Particularly in schools that where the top-down academic culture emphasizes competition, metrics, and prizes. My partner and I both grew up close to the tops of our classes, but his middle school did things like giving trophies for taking the most tests about books they read in their free time. Apparently, cheating, sabotage, and bullying ensued. I do not envy that school’s culture.
22
u/whatever_m1 1d ago
Top students do have academic rivals. Back in my high-school three girls were competing for top spot, they are all friends tho and it was all friendly rivalry.

u/OwnZone592 15h ago edited 15h ago
damn mine was so toxic, he copied everything i did, turned most of our grade against me, and threatened to report me to the principal because i repeated a joke that our colombian friend made about himself. anything to get ahead ig i can’t stand the rivals-to-lovers trope bc of this dude
1
u/whatever_m1 15h ago
Damn, I thought that kind of stuffs happen in like middle school at most when people were very childish.
My class back in high-school is very friendly tho. Fourth rank was also completed but it was also friendly rivalry, ah more like romantic rivalry? between my friend and her boyfriend.
Tho while the classmates were great, the teachers suck tho. Very religious teacher, homophobic teacher, and the weridly misogynistic(while she would encourage us to study hard, she truly truly believes women are inferior to men) teacher.
1
u/OwnZone592 15h ago edited 14h ago
oh he was my rival during middle school too, he just never grew up. eight fucking years of this 😭 joke’s on him though, we graduated co-valedictorians and we both made it to HYPSM unis
and teachers can make or break your school experience for sure. you’d expect them to know better bc *they’re adults who guide us but nooope lmao
1
u/whatever_m1 15h ago
Damn, He is so childish. Does he think it is some kind of movie or novel? Tho, from the lesbian flag, no way for enemies-to-lover, so maybe he is the annoying side character villain? 🤣
1
u/OwnZone592 14h ago
more like he thought he was the MC and i was the villain :’) again idk how ppl think anything romantic could come from a dynamic like that, but our social studies teacher kept shipping us together
1
u/whatever_m1 14h ago
He sound more like the annoying side character villain.
An enemies-to-lover is only fun when both side are equal in status, stregth and moral(same gender is even better🤭). Alot of hetero enemies-to-lovers are just victim/bully-to-lovers and they suck. 😒
Teacher shipping u two sound like a nightmare.
1
u/OwnZone592 12h ago
wait lowkey do you have any recs for enemies to lovers that actually fit your description? bc ive been burned so many times..

My partner did in every class he took (at least in his master's degree, I don't know what he did in high school). Dude's wicked insanely smart, just getting A's wasn't challenging enough for him. He'd pick out the person in the class it seems the most engaged and invested in the lessons, and befriend them enough to have a grade rivalry with them.
1
u/TrailMomKat 19h ago
My youngest son is in weighted courses and has one. They're running neck and neck for valedictorian for their class so far. They both start college next fall even though they're only 15. They're actually pretty good friends despite the rivalry, though.

I had a clarinet rival in middle and part of high school. I didn't realize it but first chair was serious business to some people. She went on to be drum major and I vibed with my clarinet, but I heard so many horror stories of what she said about me to other people. It took her realizing I didn't care as much as she did for the one sided rivalry to stop. She ended up being a pretty decent high school acquaintance.

u/HolleWatkins 19h ago
This has to be a joke. She failed her exam because of her period?? Like what?

This scenario is so weird because he should have just helped her get a doctor for potential endometriosis or other context-related medical issues if she was too sick. How does blowing up a pad factory help? And why are they mentioning that shes asian and hes black?

It's like when people are upset about the price of oil and protest in front of oil refineries and it makes the price go higher because the trucks can't get through to do their job
