Browns WR KC Concepcion has cleared concussion protocol and will play Sunday. Tylan Wallace also has no game status and will return after a 3-game absence because of a knee injury.

I feel like that seems fast, I hope he’s actually all good.

People need to realize that a player going through concussion protocol is not the same as recovering from a concussion. It’s possible he didn’t even sustain a concussion.

is it possible to be knocked unconscious and not get a concussion ?

Yes

No, it's really not.

Man I'd rather he sat this one out, even if he did clear protocol we have to nurture these young talents. I know we are thin at the position but it feels like rushing him back..

Concussion protocol isn’t run by team doctors. They are independent medical staff

RIGHT! Why risk his longterm career so Watson can throw him more medecine balls in a losing effort!?

I trust the doctors. Also we're 3-2 why are we already talking about a losing effort against Tyler Huntley

100% agree. I don’t think we would be doing this if it wasn’t the Ravens at home tomorrow.

nah thats beta mentality. make these boys men. put him out there if he's medically cleared.

I mean I guess? But that would actually probably be worse news and mean he had some sort of traumatic brain injury.

You don't get knocked out without something happening to you

I mean it’s pretty common for players to only be out 0-1 games especially on their first one

RIGHT!! That looked like 2 game AT LEAST

u/Aharleyman 1d ago

Glad he’s okay, his absence was very noticeable!

Yeah, separation was pretty damn hard to come by during the second part of that game.

We win the game if he wasn’t injured

I'm not going to say we lost last week because he wasn't playing but we lost last week because he wasn't playing

1

u/BlackIroh 1d ago

We lost last week because Deshaun isn't a good QB. Which is normally mitigated by KC being phenomenal

2

u/rebuildingsince64 1d ago

Not defending DW he is what he is, but he had some dimes on target that were dropped which is not his fault.

1

u/BlackIroh 1d ago

Yes that's 100% true. He had I think 3-4 on the money passes in key moments that were dropped and would have probably been completions if KC had been there. My point was that his bad play for the other 60+ snaps is what lost us the game , more so than those 3-4 key drops

Any word on if they fined Fitzpatrick? Dude had b2b unnecessary roughness calls against the same guy

u/fbgswill 1d ago

He got fined

Just the cost of ending careers like a dirty bitch

7

u/Carpetron 1d ago

He needs to be suspended, it's the same shit every year and he clearly hasn't gotten the message

1

u/Aharleyman 1d ago

How much was he fined??

Great news!!

Hell yeah! Like I fucking said, KC is GOOD TO GO! All the fake ass Reddit neurobiologists can suck it.

I’m sure there’s an actual medical explanation, but I do not understand how you can get knocked out cold and clear concussion protocol in 5 days

For any MMA commission, a KO is an auto 30-90 day medical suspension

Just completely different approaches.

MMA is a strict time-based protocol. And I mean, it's obviously a different sport ... you go into every match or even sparring session with the expectation of repeated violent head trauma.

The NFL's return to participation protocol is symptom-based, not time-based. Players proceed through each step of the protocol under the supervision team doctors and the independent neurological consultant (who ultimately is the person responsible for the go/no-go call). If you go through each phase and don't exhibit symptoms, you are cleared for the next. It's not uncommon to get through it in a week.

Still doesn’t make much sense to me, his brain is no doubt in a fragile state right now. There’s a difference between getting your bell rung and being in concussion protocol versus being KO’d cold with your eyes rolled back into your skull.

2

u/TapedeckNinja 1d ago

The point of the NFL's return to participating protocol is simply to make sure the brain has returned to baseline before the player is cleared, to prevent Second Impact Syndrome and reduce the risk of long-term damage.

If a player gets through protocol, then they have no symptoms, and their measurements are at baseline. Maybe it would be "safer" to wait longer but the protocol is a clinical approach, not a time-based one.

2

u/rxbizzle 1d ago

To my knowledge there is no definitive medical testing to prove that the brain has returned to baseline or has healed in any measurable way. It is all based on the player reporting symptoms along with cognitive testing that can be compared to previous cognitive tests the player has taken. So he could theoretically lie and say he feels great and as long as he scores similarly to previous tests he’s good to go.

I mean I’m not saying it’s impossible that his brain is actually ok, but it’s still ultimately a gamble.

1

u/EvlOrangeMan 1d ago

I feel like it's harder than that because you know almost every football player would be lying to get out on the field quicker, they do that anyways with other injuries.

0

u/rxbizzle 1d ago

Yes and no. I’m sure there are guys that are terrified of permanently scrambling their brains and probably report every little symptom and then there are guys that don’t give a shit and just want to get back asap.

2

u/hockey17jp 1d ago

Glad he's not out long term... little crazy that he isn't missing a single game. We all watched him get knocked out!

2

u/EvlOrangeMan 1d ago

Didn't the same thing happen with Jamaar Chase a couple weeks ago?

0

u/TheRealGyurky 1d ago

No he got his face masked twisted and then a guy came in for a pretty late hit. He was concussed but not unconscious.

0

u/hockey17jp 1d ago

Jamarr didn't get knocked unconscious. Just took an awkward hit to the head.

1

u/IronMonk8383 1d ago

That’s great news! I’m glad he is ok.

1

u/croth4 1d ago

Pretty unbelievable

1

u/ShakeMyHeadSadly 1d ago

Good news. That was a nasty hit.

I know the kid has been cleared, and I really want the Browns to win…but that hit! I would just feel better as a fan if he sat out this game.
