Unreserved is played a lot

Maybe it’s just related to the timing when I happen to be listening but Unreserved seems to be on all the time. The show is mostly ok, sometimes good, rarely (but occasionally) great, but ultimately imho not high enough calibre to get SO MUCH airtime. Is it just me? I feel like every day I’m getting less and less interested in putting cbc on during my downtime.

ha. this is like how whenever i get into the car “marvin’s room” is on.

it’s not that unreserved is always on, but that your schedule and natural rhythms involve turning on the radio when it is on + confirmation bias.

"Vibin' " does it for me.

I end up listening to The Couch Potatoes on CKNW instead..

Love tons of other CBC Radio content, though.

Depending on where you live, Marvin's Room is used as a filler on CBC 1 when there isn't a local show in that broadcast area to fill the time slot. Same with Frequencies.

that’s interesting, but also: it’s because i only drive my can on specific days of the week at specific times.

Me too.

I used to listen to Ideas while I worked.

I learned so much.

I would rather get stabbed than listen to Marvin's Room, wtf is that show...

it’s just music and some history, same as danny finkleman or whatever

No, not at all like Finkleman, because the music is absolute fucking garbage, and it doesn't have the idiosyncratic charm.

That's just your opinion. I'm mid sixties white guy and have appreciated the soul R&B groove all my life. The show highlights classics, new and local talent. If you don't like it don't listen!

Yeah unfortunately that's where I'm at with nearly everything on CBC radio anymore :/

Ya, I think this is what's happening. A small number of shows I will actively tune in for and the rest of the time, I'm just putting CBC on when I don't have other things I want to listen to. Maybe these times just coincide with these re-airs

It’s not just you. I enjoy it but seems like every other day I’m listening to Rosanna Deerchild

Turns out it's only twice a week, I guess it happens that of the hours I listen, the 2 times it plays are always within my listening times. But I guess occasionally some shows cross-play bits and pieces of others too so maybe there are some segments that get played an additional one or two times?

Anyway it's not a problem, just someething I noticed and wondered if others did. I'm glad I'm not totally alone!

Were you confused by the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation coverage today?

Haha, no just funny timing. I have noticed it in the past couple months.

Just twice per week according to the schedule.

Twice, just like a lot of their other shows. Even Q and whatever it’s called that follows Q plays a second time. I’ve heard both driving to and from a job more than once.

I miss when Morningside was every day....

If we’re talking about missing I quite liked This is That for a weekly dose of humor, often catching the repeat too. But missed the most would be Vinyl Cafe.

Yup - Tuesdays at 1 pm and Sundays at 2 pm (4 pm MT/PT).

It must be the two days that I tune in "randomly" then. I'm not keeping data, it's just something I noticed.

Isn’t it only on once or twice a week?

A lot is how much exactly? It plays for you every day?

It is scheduled twice per week (Tuesday and Sunday), so I guess that is a lot. Most weekly programs air twice a week (one weekday, one weekend).

I agree. There are so many other shows that doesnt get the airtime (and they should for the variety) but every time I hear repeated shows like The Next Chapter with Antonio Michael Downing I turn the radio off.

By far the worst show is the “the debaters”. And any improv/comedy. Definitely a try to laugh challenge.
