I honestly have nothing against you guys, but I watched a live stream of the midnight yell before the ND game this season, and that was the dumbest shit I ever watched.

It's supposed to be dumb, that's kinda the point. A lot of the traditions involved in the midnight yells are a century old, and we just haven't ever updated 'em...and we don't want to!

The jokes are supposed to be corny. The "Ol' Rock, the Good Ag", the Mugdown, the Yells, it's all stuff Aggies came up with ~100 years ago and then it just stuck. Hell, the most recent yell we've added was "SIT DOWN, BUS DRIVER!" and that's from the 70s.

It's also actually a clever way of getting tens of thousands of inebriated people in one location, makes the cops' jobs a bit easier. If you go to Midnight yell sober, you're doing it wrong.
