To be honest if we some how win this game we might be decent considering this is the best defense in cfb

John Mateer is not playing fantastic he had two short fields, fucked up a third and short that lead to a botched punt and a pick 6.

Kalen DeBoer just backed out of a bidding war for a house in Ann Arbor
84
u/Outrageous_War4610 Oklahoma Sooners Dec 20 '25
A fumble from a perfectly timed strip? Sucks but it happens. Pick six where db makes a great play? Awful but theyve got tons of playmakers.
A fumble where a punters under zero pressure and he just shits down his leg will haunt you. A pick six where the reciever runs the wrong route will stick with you for a long time. Theres no shame in losing to Bama but this is setting up to live in sooner fans nightmares for the next 5 years.

Let’s say there’s a 5 percent chance for a TD Hail Mary to work, but maybe 2 percent chance of a pick six or fumble return; if bama didn’t start with the ball in the 2nd half I think you take a shot, but just the slim possibility that they get 7 and can march to start the half for another 7 isn’t worth it.

Michigan pulled the offer sheet midway through the 2nd and Paw was on his way to Tuscaloosa then Mateer turned into Mater and their punter just flashed in from Quantum Leap.

It’s like they hit the rest button. 17-0. Then 0-17. Now it’s 17-17 at half time and I don’t even know what’s going on

When the Ref literally gives you 15 yards telling you they heavy coverage the sidelines and you...throw to the sidelines. Imagine your sustain drives hitting center of the field and you stop calling it.
Some definite fractures in coaching on OU when players fall, not aggressive when 3rd conver. is 4 out 7, not taking the chance to score when there is no more clock like wtf.

Doboer just seems like the most basic guy. I wonder if that’s why he keeps getting these jobs and has ascended like he has. Almost like you can’t go broke betting on Apple, he’s not exciting, he won’t Wow you, but he’s clearly a winner and must have some sort of talent behind the scenes that we aren’t seeing. As someone who sees him at a surface level he gives the most scripted answers and just seems like he’s got the personality of a bag of milk.
I played pickleball with a kid who was a slot receiver for him when he was at UW and when I asked him his thoughts on Deboer he said he was winner and the players and team knew that which obviously helps them buy in

A flip of the first game. Our 3 turnovers gifted OU 17 points in 2 point win despite us out gaining them 414-206
7
u/SingleSooner Oklahoma Sooners Dec 20 '25
I’m not going to get over that. You have to either try a lonnng fg, throw a Hail Mary, or try to draw them offsides there instead of keeping the timeout in your pocket. It’s inexcusable.
17
u/SeatRevolutionary840 Dec 20 '25
Man, Oklahoma totally imploded. Dropped pass from 24-7. Punter fumbles kicking the ball gifts them 3. Then just a terrible pick 6…just awful stuff.

It really comes down to Mateer. He made a bad decision not running for the 1st, a bad throw down field, and then another bad throw to create the Pick 6.

Player was standing where he shouldn’t be. That white area on the sideline is where the ref is supposed to run along. Coaches stand there sometimes even though they’re not supposed to but if a ref runs into a player or coach, it’s a flag 100% of the time
