Weekly Thread Trivia Tuesday, 2026-08-18

/r/CFB Trivia Tuesday!

This Week's Contest: http://trivia.redditcfb.com

Summer Standings/Questions

Your Trivia Settings

Rules

Trivia Tuesday is a weekly feature run by /u/bakonydraco, /u/DampFrijoles, /u/Davidellias, and /u/iamnotacola. Each week there will be five questions ranging from questions most everyone can get to questions that might stump just about everyone. Your goal is to quickly answer them to the best of your ability. You get a one point speed bonus for finishing in under 2:30.

There are definitely still ways you could cheat the system, but please do not. This is meant to be a fun weekly feature, and we encourage you to take it at face value and answer the questions without assistance.

Last Week

Meta Week is back! This week’s set of questions will be very loosely linked to college football. Scores this week will not count toward the upcoming season, so no need to worry about getting some wrong.

This silly game is now 43 seasons old!

We at the Trivia mod team are still very thankful for everyone who plays, whether you're an seasoned veteran or just starting. Everyone keeps this little project fun and light, and we appreciate all of you.

Individual

Last Week

4 users achieved a high score of 10 out of 11 points. Congrats to /u/tulaneoutlaw, /u/wounds-of-light, /u/cajunaggie08, and /u/Mr-Texan-74!

Playoff

tulaneoutlaw is the Summer 2026 Trivia Tuesday Individual Champion! They are in rarefied air as they have won the Individual Championship the first time that they made it to the final. Well done!

/u/cajunaggie08 and /u/Mr-Texan-74 were right behind them and got the silver and bronze this season.

All three have earned the /r/CFB Top Scorer flair (/r/CFB Top Scorer) for finishing in the top three.

Some extra notes:

  • /u/ruwisc had the fastest average speed of the playoff participants, clocking in at a superhuman 0:34.57.

  • /u/Mr-Texan-74 scored the most points on the season once again, with 68 points out of a possible 77 (88.31%).

Premier Tier

Ohio State is the Summer 2026 Premier Tier Champion!!! This is their eighth Premier Tier win, and their first since the Winter 2025 season.

Leading the way for Ohio State in the final were /u/MrOrcaDood, /u/BensenJensen, /u/Smitty_OSU_1967, /u/Colton3690, and /u/wickeddawgs4473209. /u/Moose4KU and /u/mcdsmaster8824 were also top 5 OSU players this season and helped the team get to the Final.

Rounding out the finalists in order of finish are Georgia, Texas A&M, and Florida.

Ohio State will get an alternate flair for their victory! Because the Buckeyes have met the threshold of eight Premier Tier championships, this flair will be permanent. They are just the second team to accomplish this remarkable feat. Ohio State fans, please suggest options in the comments.

TCU Would Have Beat Auburn for the 2010 Championship Championship Tier

USF wins the Summer 2026 Championship Tier!!! This is the Bulls' third Championship Tier win, previously winning in the Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 seasons.

Heading up the victory for USF were /u/MSBulls, /u/coolrod50, and /u/usffan.

South Carolina, Louisiana Tech, and BYU finish up the podium.

With the victory, USF has earned naming rights to the Championship Tier for next season! Bulls fans, please suggest options in the comments.

Best of luck to all!

Question Answer %Correct Notable Answer 1 Notable Answer 2
What does the "N" in the acronym "NCAA" stand for National 97.11% "Not gonna do shit about NIL" (JK it's National) -/u/Il_Tenente National. It's the National Communists Against Athletes per The Boz -/u/Staind075
Atlanta Journal writer Everett Strupper is credited with being the first person to compare what SEC team with Elephants, the animal that would later be the school's mascot? Alabama 100.00% I love how a majority of college team names come from a news reporter in the early 20th century comparing them to an animal or something, like "Alabama played like elephants!" we don't get that kind of journalism anymore -/u/jfarbzz Auburn or Tennessee? Will this make anyone angry? -/u/edinatlanta
How many years of eligibility do all D1 and D2 athletes now get, a recent increase? 5 93.18% 5... unless they sue, in which case they can play FOR-EH-VUR -/u/tb25uga 5, or however many they want. Just tear your ACL 4 times and trigger a worldwide disease because you can’t close the yearbook and stay out of the freshman dorms (I call that Lane Kiffining) -/u/bambamkameron21
What Boston College RB led the ACC in rushing yards for the 2019 season? A.J. Dillon 32.81% AJ Dillon , who played in the Hall of Fame game this past Thursday. -/u/AtticusDutch AJ "hates my fantasy football team" Dillon -/u/Skank_hunt42
Name the two teams that appeared in each of the five BCS games during the BCS era: the Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, and BCS National Championship Game. Ohio State and Oklahoma 16.01% Ohio State and Oklahoma. A hard time to be an Ohio State hater. Still is, but it used to, too. -/u/Nick_For_Short Ohio State. Oklahoma. And I'm only not saying Bama because they were an answer to an earlier question. I'm fine getting this wrong, but if it is Bama I'm going to be mad. -/u/faceofuzz
What was the New Orleans Bowl's first named corporate sponsor? Wyndham Hotels & Resorts 8.14% Beau's Crawdad Emphorium and Tax Service -/u/Dropbackandpunt It would be funny if it was Carrier air conditioning -/u/Shadowcaster_Spark
During Arkansas' 2017 season opener, they faced an FCS opponent that wore white uniforms with white numbers thus garnering them a penalty of a timeout per quarter. Which HBCU did they play? Florida A&M 19.69% Florida A&M, didn't arkansas take one timeout in solidarity with them per quarter or am I misremembering things, watched a few youtube videos a while back I doubt they are always accurate -/u/bigkodack FAMU, I see this in YouTube every month for some reason. -/u/bagelboy565
Who holds the record for most points scored in a single College Football Playoff (in all games played)? Quinshon Judkins (36 points of 4 games in 2024-25). We were lokoing for a player here, but the wording is ambiguous and so we would also accept Ohio State, who scored 145 points in 4 games in 2024-25. 14.44% I was gonna say LSU but Georgia's dismantling of TCU makes me think it's them. Georgia it is. TCU was a Cinderella story, if at the end of Cinderella she gets disemboweled in front of the whole village. -/u/noriginalusername05 Like the person? Or team? Im going to guess despite playing in only the 4team playoff LSU still holds for absolutely smacking around Oklahoma. If it has to be a player and passing TDs don't count. Give me Jordan Jefferson. -/u/igwaltney3
The recently deceased John Amos, more famous for his acting roles in Good Times and Coming to America, played college football at what G5 program in the 1960s? Colorado State 9.19% And Major Grant in Die Hard 2. -/u/coolrod50 Idk this one but I’m stuck in a several hour long useless meeting and this is saving my sanity -/u/rosski47
What current FBS school was the last to have three straight undefeated, untied seasons? Toledo 3.41% Oklahoma? Ugh I hope not (okstate and Nebraska flair) -/u/panaja17 North Dakota State? The "current FBS" threw me for a minute -/u/fightintxag13

Can you confirm that I pulled FAMU out of my ass? I can't remember what I answered.

oh god. I got myself in to an Alabama loop for these answers last week. Had it for that Elephants question, then I thought one of the two teams to be in the bowls was Alabama, and by this point I had a sneaking suspicion that all the answers had to do with Alabama. And then I got to the Arkansas question and thought maybe it was Alabama A&M, then answered Alabama for the points scored one because it made sense to me, then thought it was North Alabama for the John Amos one, and then thought Alabama was the answer to the last one. They all seemed legitimate, and it turns out they were all wrong. Hahaha

I’m surprised at the number of questions this week. Be careful you don’t catch a lawsuit

I was thinking of using the College questions from the JMFootball Jeopardy video from last Thursday and seeing if anyone picked up on it.

But I then realized there's a ton of issues with doing that like would anyone actually get the reference for one and would they I was being lazy rather than making a reference to the second third most enjoyable JM property

I missed it this week. Forgot all about it. Not that my score would have noticed if I did play, judging by your reaction to the questions.

I'm ok with "this ain't the same ol' south florida" naming but I feel like we should freshen it up a bit.

Even with the extra time, I couldn't get the speed bonus... smh! Thank god for the technicality on Q8 and putting Ohio State (assuming they were asking for a team) and getting my lost point back... kinda.

Wow! I never expected to win anything, I just love playing each week. Most of the time I don't even check the scores. I am honored to have finished on top, for what will likely be the only time.
