No. The conferences aren’t subject to the same anti-trust issues the ncaa is because conferences aren’t monopolies

You don't have to be a monopoly to run afoul of anti-trust law.

This will all be moot once the Protect College Sports Act passes.

You are way more confident about that act passing than I am.

Conferences simply aren’t monopolies. There’s many conferences there’s only one ncaa

You don't have to be a monopoly for anti-labor collusion to be illegal.

The NCAA doesn’t have a monopoly on football. Have you ever heard of the NFL? UFL? NAIA?

Where are people getting these legal ideas from? lol. Anti-trust laws against collusion apply to all associations, not just monopolies

Don’t be obtuse. They have a monopoly on college football. The case law that’s been decided supports this. The NFL is a monopoly as well but they have an antitrust exemption from Congress unlike the NCAA.

I know you’re a buckeye fan but try some critical thinking

You may be thinking of Major League Baseball, which does have a congressionally created antitrust exemption.

It is fucking wild that this post has a negative vote ratio, considering the fact that it is very literally factual.

People really have little to no knowledge of the nuance involved in the things they are spouting off about. Generally, journalists are guilty of the same thing. You forget about it until the discussion comes back around to your own area of expertise.

So does the NFL

They have a very narrow exemption for negotiating broadcasting rights, is that what you’re referring to? Because MLB has an actual exemption from the antitrust laws. The NFL, on the other hand, had to recognize the player union and negotiation with them to avoid being found in violation of the Sherman Act.

For media rights, not labor. They have to deal with a union and cough up 50% of revenue to them because they have no exemption to collude against their labor.

You would have realized this if you were as smart as me, which is frankly not very smart. Not a good look for you buddy 😬
