Wait…how good is Western Michigan?

i mean they brought back the entire team that won the MAC last year so, pretty good. Don't get me wrong, our offense looks terrible and we have probably still 4 losses this year unless we get better...but Western is no joke either.

I'll add that bringing back the entire team really helps in the beginning of the season. Haters of Michigan can be opportunistic and call out our sloppy play but hopefully we get better as the season goes on!

There were definitely improvements on offense between last week and this week so there are some hopeful signs.

I'm pretty sure WMU's defense was devastated by attrition no?

I'm aware that their offense is very experienced, but I thought their defense was a total rebuild.

Yeah last week during the broadcast they were talking about how they lost like 35 sacks from last years team

Yeah, the defense is largely a portal build.

That was 2025, when they lost 20+ players to the portal and were -18 players net. This season they brought in a few transfers for defense, but that was to replace some guys who graduated and they were only -2 to the portal. Their only real big loss on defense was Nadame Tucker who had 14.5 sacks and graduated.

Please do tell where those losses are going to come from? 🤣 Outside of OSU and Indiana, Oklahoma is the best on the schedule. Oregon looks awful. Who else? Penn st or Iowa? Please lol

It’s going to be a very long season for Michigan…not gonna be horrendous like we thought it might look after last week, but every game is probably gonna be very frustrating and you’ll be holding your breath every game. Defense looks legit, but the highs and lows of Bryce Underwood are gonna cause an uptick in blood pressure.

Maybe Underwood gets to have his coming out party against Minnesota, however I think the Oregon game will be interesting…great offense, and traffic cones on defense vs anemic offense and elite defense.

Michigan vs Iowa might be sicko game of the year, the O/U should be 7 points.

I'm ok with that. If we see development. I had no delusions that we'd be a great team this year. I'd take some nail biters. Unfortunately the entire season always rests on the last game of the year though. Nothing else matters. Fuck Ohio!

I know you mean Ohio State, but at this point, Ohio might be a nail-biter.

You worried at all about losing to Michigan State or are they still firmly located in the basement of irrelevance?

I think we are usually a hard match up for Oregon, even when we shouldn't be.

We play them competitively when when we should get smoked, they ain't used to that big physical play style, and we keep them from getting fired up by choking the life out of the game.

I think Oregon will have more consistent success against OSU because they play the same SEC type football.
