Incredible call by the haters. Just 8 days ago I was hearing it was Oregon's year. Wild what 200 hours does to expectations

u/ishboo3002 Arizona Wildcats Sep 12 '26

Tbf I've been hearing it's Oregon's year for 20 years now.

Lanning was hired to turn Oregon into Georgia, which to be fair he did, but unfortunately he turned Oregon into pre-Kirby Georgia

Is the defense in the room with us now?

1

u/Super_C_Complex Penn State Nittany Lions Sep 13 '26

Not the second quarter. That's for sure

The other team scored 39 points dude, that's typically considered a pretty poor defensive situation.

3

u/CptCroissant Oregon Ducks Sep 12 '26

Should've been 53 or 60 points for OSU, we were lucky with 2 picks in the red zone and that drive killed by the facemask.

2

u/CptCroissant Oregon Ducks Sep 12 '26

We got absolutely roasted on D, not sure what you were watching. Our D last year was one of the leaders in stopping explosive plays - completely absent this year. Our DL full of future NFL players got pushed around by an OSU OL missing at least 1 starter and that is a fucking glorified G6 callup. ILBs play the run like they're allergic, DBs are making way too many tackles 6 yards down the field. Who the fuck watched these LBs all winter and decided we wouldn't pursue an impact transfer at the position?

u/SLAYER_IN_ME Tennessee Volunteers • WKU Hilltoppers Sep 12 '26

Both Oregon Lines got dog walked and OSU stayed I the Oregon backfield. Tough day.

The rumors of your DEF have been highly exaggerated

We're an offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and a couple years of development away from competing.

It’s never Oregons year according to history.

Oregon Football 🤝 Arizona basketball

Thinking this is our year

1

u/twoinvenice USC Trojans • Paper Bag Sep 12 '26

Yeah, except you all have actually won a basketball championship and have been a number of times

2

u/ishboo3002 Arizona Wildcats Sep 13 '26

Yeah but I'd say the expectations and the disappointment is the same

u/BellOfTaco3285 Oregon Ducks • Montana Grizzlies Sep 13 '26

Hey now the ducks one it once in 1939 🙃

Congratulations, I guess.

7

u/-holocene Oregon Ducks • Penn State Nittany Lions Sep 12 '26

But worse. At least Penn State won their tune up games before collapsing after losing to Oregon, we couldn't even get to 4-0 lmao

2

u/ToastyTandy Penn State Nittany Lions Sep 12 '26

Does the new head coach search start now?

We (Penn State) played Temple today.
We have a 40 and 4 record against Temple, I think I saw during one of the popups during the game.

This is like our loss to Temple back in 2016, I believe it was?
But we still stuck with Franklin…

I feel your pain.

8

u/what_user_name Penn State Nittany Lions • Team Chaos Sep 12 '26

We beat Temple in 2016. You are thinking of 2015 where we lost 27-10 and gave up 10 sacks, including one on a two man rush.

1

u/-holocene Oregon Ducks • Penn State Nittany Lions Sep 12 '26

I don't know about HC search but a coordinator search should sure as fuck be starting lol (though I doubt it will)

1

u/CptCroissant Oregon Ducks Sep 12 '26

I really wanna know the tea on those coordinators behind the scenes because both the OC and DC seem to be vastly underperforming.

At least I didn't see that many fucking bubble screens today.

Is Dan Lanning the Ryan Day of James Franklins?

3

u/intelligentx5 Oregon Ducks Sep 12 '26

Who knows. He was probably out of his mind on Zyns.

3

u/monkeybiziu Indiana Hoosiers • Billable Hours Sep 12 '26

He has to have a resting heart rate of like 120.

1

u/Agitated_Suspect2357 Sep 13 '26

He's the James Franklin of Dabos

It's been Oregon's year every year for the past 25 years.

I'm sad I'll never get to see them get smacked by Utah in another PAC-12 CG.

5

u/resuwreckoning Stanford Cardinal Sep 12 '26

Sometimes we helped.

4

u/erwaro Oregon State Beavers • Team Chaos Sep 12 '26

I maintain that the old Pac-12 is going to get back together someday. Sans USC, as their program "sadly" ceases to exist for Reasons. Including the new teams, because they are Good Sports.

1

u/bumpkinblumpkin Ivy League • Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sep 12 '26

Joey Harrington baby! Lions legend

1

u/NecessaryTune6684 Sep 12 '26

But Oregon was 8-4 against Utah in the last 20 years of the Pac 12. Wouldn’t really call that “smacked”….

6

u/Inside-Drink-1311 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Sep 12 '26

I was really high on Oregon this year until I realized they lost both coordinators. Think it kind of got overlooked.

u/chumer_ranion Rice Owls • Cornell Big Red Sep 12 '26

I think the sporting world took for granted that due diligence was done with the internal hires. Clearly, it was not.

8

Hey, I’m glad one orange OSU team gets to beat ‘em this year

I got downvoted pre season for saying Lanning and Moore were shit. Didn’t realize how many bots they had.

I'm personally feeling awfully smug for saying that Boise State really didn't look that good, that Oregon's defense looked suspect as hell, and that their offense had talent but major execution issues after last week.

2

u/jdhall010 Georgia Bulldogs Sep 12 '26

In theory Oregon is still undefeated in conference play. So they're totally still in it.

It just isn't boding well right now.

1

u/J_ByronWhizzerWhite Oregon Ducks • Billable Hours Sep 12 '26

Just shows how meaningless most sports media is (not the fault of journalists by the way; they are just reporting on preseason info given by the teams) . . . So much for by far the best Oregon team ever.

1

u/NYVines Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 12 '26

Nike money should go to rewarding winners. Not towards buying guys hoping they will win.

1

u/godzillamegadoomsday Sep 12 '26

I think the funny thing was people on TikTok at least were saying “saying Oregon isn’t a championship favorite is over reacting” after the Boise game. Oregon been paper tigers for so damn long
