Game Thread [Game Thread] Ohio State @ Texas (7:30 PM ET)

u/T49irvine Sep 13 '26
OSU looked much more solid until 3Q, and then they began to succumb to the heat. Sark needs to be ready for games in which UT does not have help from the weather. Arch and Sark needs to hammer out a system that goes into effect the moment Arch is on the field. Big shout out and thank you to Hollywood!

21
u/CactusRider1776 Miami Hurricanes Sep 13 '26
Arch came through but only after improvising. Sark's forcing Arch to be something he is not. Sark is not adjutsing his "system" to the player. imo. Awesome win for the horns and Archibald
1
u/Ok_Problem426 Texas Longhorns Sep 17 '26
No way boss. Sark dialed up winners all game and a combination of drops and getting ahead in the progression occasionally gave Arch problems. But like…the key 4th down play Arch converted was Sark making exactly the adjustments to give his QB the tools to succeed.
Arch missed a wide open TE on the same exact play call several drives earlier. Sark kept it in his back pocket and told him it would be there up the middle. Arch hit nailed throw and the rest is history.
The other fourth down call he rolled him out to the right…again, giving him the option to run or hit his check down across the middle.
1
u/CactusRider1776 Miami Hurricanes 29d ago
Arch's instincts are what made the difference
1
u/Ok_Problem426 Texas Longhorns 29d ago
On the 4th and 6? No man Sark literally told him the pass was gonna be there. Arch still made a big time throw when we had to have it.
You’re thinking of 4th and 9
11
u/Bones12x2 Sep 13 '26
agree 100%. The offense didn't work until Arch started running and playing loose....Sark hates to let QBs run but thats what wins college football games
-67
u/EntranceHairy Sep 13 '26
Wow, the series that got texas going had 7 different plays with blatant holding right in front of the ref, and a no pass interference called as such to hold texas's hand to the end zone. Yes Ohio state missed that field goal but that was terrible to watch. Im done with CFB, no different than the rigged NFL. Peace out football.

That is a bridge too far

Remember last year when they stopped us on 4 straight plays at the goal line?
That was a long term plan to sucker them into not letting us score at the end of this game, running off an extra minute thinking they could repeat the success.

Honestly Sark did a lot of stuff he normally doesn't do in the 4th quarter and it worked

u/CanaKu Sep 13 '26
I still think Sark made a mistake not playing the analytic game and going for 2 after first touchdown. In hindsight he did right after winning by 1. Had OSU kicker made that FG it would have put the game out of reach. Late in a game like that I think it’s always better tho try and cut the lead to 12 than kick XP and make it a 13 point game. He was very fortunate they missed the FG
5
u/cpscott1 Sep 13 '26
Hell no. You don't get cute and if we missed we would have tied going into OT

1
17
u/Statalyzer Texas Longhorns Sep 13 '26
Down 13 late trying for anything other than 7 + 7 is nuts.
-2
u/CanaKu Sep 13 '26
I’m referring to the first TD. They were down 20. In that instance late in a game it is better to go for 2.
2
u/cpscott1 Sep 13 '26
No it's not. You worry about a 2 point conversation if you need it not when you down 3 scores

Hats off to Texas, Ohio State phoned it in. I saw this coming a mile away. Ryan Day has to learn how to be better at holding leads. At least they have a chance at fixing things given this being early. Just inexcusable to play so conservative 2nd half. Texas wasnt gonna give up and they earned the win.
2
u/CactusRider1776 Miami Hurricanes Sep 13 '26
they could gone for the 1st down instead the attempted long pass in the 4th qtr - and missed fg
10

6

I believe it was 14 or 17 pt lead vs Georgia in the semis. Day has a bad history of idling the offense and defense runs outta gas.

u/Sir_Bryan Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 13 '26

Ryan’s just an idiot lol…running game was slowed down in the 2nd half but besides that Bad Luck INT in the 1st Quarter & the other…you allowed a good but moreso economical Arch to just nitpick and cut down field in the 2nd half…no reason why This Game wasn’t minimally a 30PT score for Ohio State
1
u/cpscott1 Sep 13 '26

This is the loss the Buckeyes need to start playing 100% for the full 60 minutes every game instead of just the first 30. Just like the loss to Virginia Tech during the first CFP playoff over a decade ago and the loss to TTUN the national championship run a couple seasons ago. Perhaps we’ll get a rematch in the playoffs, Longhorns! Until then, GG Texas bros
3
u/Bones12x2 Sep 13 '26
I think the heat did play a factor that OSU wont have to deal with again.
1
u/Living-Cycle7768 Sep 13 '26
It was a night game, the heat wasn’t a significant factor.
1
u/Bones12x2 Sep 13 '26
it was still hot....did you not see how drenched in sweat all the players were?
1
u/Living-Cycle7768 Sep 13 '26
I think that was more the football. I was just there, once the sun sets in texas, the heat doesn’t really matter besides just staying hydrated.

u/nvm206 Sep 13 '26
Seemed the loss to IU in the Big 10 champ game last year didn’t light the fire you needed against Miami
2
u/Sir_Bryan Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 13 '26
Miami was just a better team up front. Nothing about lighting a fire. IU exposed some weaknesses during the championship game and Miami was able to take advantage as well.
2
u/CriticalPolitical Sep 13 '26
Hartline had his head in South Florida while he was still the OC for the Bucks. Ryan Day choosing himself to OC any game always ends in disappointment. We didn’t know who was going to be the OC until shortly before kickoff against Miami and when they announced it, I already knew the offense was not going to have a good day. The last time he OC’ed a game was the Cotton Bowl against Mizzou and the effort that the Buckeyes put into that game was not good, you could tell none of them wanted to be there. I’d rather have ChatGPT calling the offense than Ryan Day even if we lose, it’s still a higher probability that we’d win
1
u/Thebeav15 Ohio State • West Virginia Sep 13 '26
True, Ryan Day has to get this team to be tougher and not coast at end of games like this. Play calling was not good either but players did not execute.
3
u/meatystocks Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 13 '26
What was that 2nd half? Did the team place some bets?
2
u/CriticalPolitical Sep 13 '26
I hate to be that person, but there were definitely some shady non calls by the refs like the pass interference no call on Jeremiah Smith a couple times. Still, there were a lot of other ways to have won this game despite that and the Buckeyes have been on both sides of those kinds of calls last season so just have to ice up and get ready for Kent State next week. Next big one is at Indiana so I think we’ll work everything out by then
0
u/meatystocks Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 13 '26
A little shell shock by this lose. I’m not upset as it’s Texas in Texas, but that second half was so bizarre.
8
u/Casperita012 Texas A&M Aggies Sep 13 '26
I think a large part of it is how fucking hot it is in Texas right now. They got gassed out from the heat and humidity.
-1
u/OkStable4946 Sep 13 '26
Ohio has been having close to as hot and probably similar humidity for the last couple of weeks
1
u/cpscott1 Sep 13 '26
Ohio heat ain't nothing like Texas heat. You're crazy
1
u/OkStable4946 Sep 13 '26
At its peak I would agree but we had 96 degree heat last week have had crazy humidity in the same time. 92% humidity in columbus right now.
I would never agree to live in Texas for the sustained heat you get there but I just dont think it specifically made the difference in the game
1
u/meatystocks Ohio State Buckeyes Sep 13 '26
The defense kept on getting put on the field pretty quickly in 2nd half, that couldn’t have helped.
