We got a whole bunch of different angles where you can see the ball hit the defender’s hands with time still on the stadium clock. It was really incredibly close, but the refs were right about there being time for one more play. It just really sucks that the broadcast didn’t have ready access to a useful angle.

On a serious note, the angle not being immediately accessible to NBC is the basis for the Mid-American Conference's protest. Along with a half dozen other procedures that were technically correct but didn't fit common practices.

Nobody thinks that the result was ever going to get overturned.
