Believe it or not but I am into it.

Especially when they get some hope.

Watching an over ranked team you hate lose? Schadenfraud

6

u/CaptainAssPlunderer Florida State Seminoles 28d ago

It’s such a perfect word

Schadenfraud

The Germans really nailed it with that one.

7

u/Hankerpants Colorado Buffaloes 27d ago

It's schadenfreude in German. Schadenfraud is a lovely play on words though.

Though you are correct, schadenfreude is one of the best words the German language has ever bestowed on humanity.

Not a kink just a pleasure.

Ha I’ve given up hope already this season.

BAS starting early this year

u/Local-Finance8389 Texas A&M Aggies 28d ago

Just need to start it week 1. Can’t be let down if your expectations are zero.

u/crazy_balls Texas A&M Aggies 28d ago

Hard not to with our first half performances at our first 2 games. Can't say I'm surprised we lost tonight.

You love to see it

I had it when we were 11-0 last year even before facing yall. BAS is a way of life

SEC shorts gonna hit like crack on Monday.

2

u/Local-Finance8389 Texas A&M Aggies 28d ago

It’s going to be about LSU if they lose. We will be mentioned for 5 seconds if at all.

3

u/Redeem123 Team Chaos • Texas Longhorns 28d ago

Damn you’re probably right but those 5 seconds will be amazing.

I wish

23

u/kmoz Texas Longhorns 28d ago

I thought they'd edge us a bit longer this year. But then again they did give elko a big extension so maybe this is the most battered version, where they shit the bed for 2 years and get a new hilarious buyout situation

4

u/SaltyLonghorn Texas Longhorns 27d ago

Elko and Venables extended. Its like xmas came early. Also I really should have been an agent. It seems so easy if they can get that leverage off no or bad results.

3

u/kmoz Texas Longhorns 27d ago

I just don't get why teams extend a coach who already has several years left at the first sign of success. Like just wait a season.

4

u/big_ice_bear Texas Longhorns • Navy Midshipmen 27d ago

I mean giving their head coach an extension after one good season then firing them one or two years later for shitting the bed is an Aggie tradition at this point isn't it?

Aggie misery is a hell of a drug

Thankfully I don't have to have hope this season. I feel unburdened

I imagine Texas is licking their lips watching A&M and OU flail around

3

u/Wasting-The-Dawn71 Texas Longhorns 28d ago

Underdogs in the red river matchup actually seem to have the upper hand. But it sure has been fun

2

u/Redeem123 Team Chaos • Texas Longhorns 28d ago

Yeah I know all rivalries are chaos, but I don’t think people appreciate that rankings mean nothing in the RRS.

Ironically, Ohio state probably understands it best.

I’m confused why Texas ever talks shit on A&M. Yall are just as disappointing of a program as they are. The whole thing is confusing.

4

u/danimal_be_eating Texas Longhorns 28d ago

Big bro, little bro. Rivalry is over 100 years old. Is it really that confusing lol

What having consistently mediocre QBs does. Mond & Reed are cheeks with enough flashes of good to keep us in QB purgatory. Genuinely never seen a college QB miss as many gimme throws as Reed does

3

u/HoustonTrashcans Texas Longhorns 28d ago

I thought Reed was going to be pretty good when he first took over as starting QB. But he hasn't really improved at all and his passing isn't good enough.

2

u/Your_Worship Texas A&M Aggies • Texas Tech Red Raiders 27d ago

Mond was not mediocre his senior year.

u/ImSuperHelpful Texas Longhorns 28d ago

Only thing that changes is the schedule… we showed they were frauds with a soft schedule last year but they got the invite anyways. Now they have a real schedule against powerhouses like Kentucky and there’s nowhere to hide.

43

u/emoney_gotnomoney Texas A&M Aggies 28d ago edited 28d ago

I think it’s a bit disingenuous to say we were frauds last year. We lost two close games to two good teams, one on the road and one to the national runner ups.

This year’s team are absolutely frauds though, and anyone who watched our first two games could’ve told you that.

41

u/VegasAWD 28d ago

A&M had one win by one point against a ranked team.

2

u/emoney_gotnomoney Texas A&M Aggies 28d ago edited 28d ago

Because we only played 3 ranked teams. Beat one on the road by 1, lost to one on the road by 10, and then lost at home to the team that made a run to the title game (all 3 of those teams ended the season in the top 12). You can only play the teams on your schedule.

Sure, they weren’t one of the beat 3 teams in the country and weren’t actual title contenders, but I don’t know how you could watch that team last year and say they had no business being in the playoffs.

10

u/VegasAWD 28d ago

Congrats on beating up on a bunch of also-rans?

15

u/emoney_gotnomoney Texas A&M Aggies 28d ago

I’m not saying you need to praise them. I’m simply saying that calling them “fraudulent” is a bit disingenuous. I don’t really see the argument that there were 12 other teams that were better than them and deserved to make the playoffs ahead of them.

-19

u/VegasAWD 28d ago

They’re a fraud because anyone who has watched college football in the last 25 years knows they ALWAYS lose big games. When have they ever took down anyone good outside one manziel game. Even in the season you’re talking about they lost to their top 3 opponents and that was maybe their second best or best season in 30 years.

11

u/emoney_gotnomoney Texas A&M Aggies 28d ago edited 28d ago

> lost to their top 3 opponents

*they lost to their top opponent and third best opponent; they beat their second best opponent

Regardless, I still don’t see how any of that means last season’s team was fraudulent though. They played the end of year #10 team on the road, the #12 team on the road, and the #2 team at home. All 3 games were close game and they went 1-2 in those games and beat everyone else. Again, I don’t really see the argument that there were 12 better teams than them that deserved to be in the playoffs over them.

By that standard, pretty much every team outside of Indiana was “fraudulent” then.

-4

u/VegasAWD 28d ago

Let me spell it out for you: your best argument is that your best team in 30 years was great because they could hang in there with good teams. Congrats. Couldn’t beat them but could keep it close. That’s totally a contender scenario and not a fraud.

They’re frauds because they’re aggies. Why are we over complicating this?

6

u/ImSuperHelpful Texas Longhorns 28d ago

Are you expecting a longhorn to be ingenuous when assessing your performance?

u/BroBeansBMS Texas A&M Aggies 28d ago

I feel like so many of us thought Reed just didn’t have what it takes but we still just committed to him as the QB. What a waste of money and time.

They bring in soo many five star recruits and still can’t get over the edge as a dominant team. Last year was good, but even then, they still got smacked by great teams.
