congress absolutely tried to charge him for ships he shuttled so the british wouldnt get them, they refused to pay him for paying the army himself, they specifically cut him out of credit

He wasn’t a trustworthy figure, he had already been found guilty of using government positions to turn a profit, he didn’t keep good records of his purchases, and some of the expenses towards the invasion of Canada included dealings that weren’t at arms length, the ships were destroyed, and there was no documentation to show what the actual cost should have been

Agreed. I’ve never been quite a fan of the hire. Seemed like we were just chasing the dragon with the whole saga, Landry getting involved just made that circus even worse. We’ve never been a controversy free program but the last ten months has been so aggravating
