These games are what make college football amazing. Pure passion and hatred, a beautiful combination

Crowd chanting "Fuck you Kiffin." Stadium sound crew playing Callin Baton Rouge. Band playing "Neck." Chambliss "Hotty fuckin Toddy"

Pure cinema post game.

They were straight up chanting "lane kiffins a P****" clear as day during ole miss' 3rd FG lol.

Elite banter. Props to Ole Miss, they had plans for this day of reckoning

u/levajack Oregon Ducks 27d ago

Everyone there knew the assignment.

u/Not_tlong Ole Miss Rebels • Iowa Hawkeyes 27d ago

We don’t get night games, so we gotta make em count lol

Yeah, the average NFL game is better than the average college game.. but there's just nothing like this in the NFL. Big college games are the best

409

u/MaizeRage48 Michigan Wolverines • Rose Bowl 27d ago

NFL is better quality of gameplay. College is better quality of atmosphere. They're different things. Personally I prefer this one.

u/TheLivingBubba Furman Paladins • Georgia Bulldogs 27d ago

Pro game = going to the symphony. College game= dive bar on a Friday night that you don’t know what’s gonna happen and then you are doing coke off a woman with three teeth on Sunday morning. Give me college ball.

46

u/Vivid_Motor_2341 /r/CFB 27d ago

College is more exciting because there is more emotion and bigger risks are taken

24

u/lkn240 Illinois Fighting Illini • Sickos 27d ago

When I say average college game - think how many Ohio State vs Purdue type games there are.

But the big games? Can't beat them - the passion, the pageantry.... all of it.

13

u/incubusfox Ohio State Buckeyes 27d ago

Ohio State vs Purdue type games

We know better than to relax against the Spoilermakers, this isn't the best example lol

6

u/lkn240 Illinois Fighting Illini • Sickos 27d ago

Unfortunately the spoilermakers have been dead for a few years now

12

u/incubusfox Ohio State Buckeyes 27d ago

...We're still afraid it's a trick

8

u/EasternCoast3497 Alabama Crimson Tide • BYU Cougars 27d ago

The old “lose by 30 4 times in a row” trick. They’ve got you right where they want you

7

u/kmoz Texas Longhorns 27d ago

College games are so incredibly sloppy, but that slop also gives you the wildest shit ever. It's the sports version of floridaman.

9

u/teshh Georgia Bulldogs 27d ago

I'm usually a nfl guy because of how few college games matter but the atmosphere and passion in college football will never be matched by the nfl.

Watching this game and seeing the ending just reminded me of what I miss out on by not watching college ball.

The TV networks have killed off so many rivalries and are making the fan experience so expensive and miserable that I can't help but see this imploding in the near future.

3

u/ThinkTank1000 Ole Miss Rebels 27d ago

I mean a college game has more on the line than an NFL game. Hell there's been NFL teams make the postseason with a losing record. Lose 2 games in a season and it's toast in college

7

u/teshh Georgia Bulldogs 27d ago

I get your angle but nfl games are just more exciting in terms of athleticism, strategy, superstars, etc.

2

u/Think_Idea_6175 27d ago

Feel like the superstars in college are able to show that off more often but I get what you’re saying

5

u/cbbutle South Carolina • Palmetto Bowl 27d ago

But you only have like 15 nfl games a week. You get like 50 college games so there is always some close game or drama

3

u/Greek_Trojan 27d ago

I'm the inverse but I still join for a big hatewatch like this from time to time.

214

u/kylkartz21 Michigan • Grand Valley State 27d ago

The NFL lacks the pageantry and passion of the CFB. Its too corperate

51

u/CarlSteezer Baylor Bears • Army Black Knights 27d ago

My NFL team loses and I’m sad for about 30 mins. Baylor or Army lose and I’m insufferable for an undisclosed amount of time

11

u/TaxAbatement 27d ago

So… always?

8

u/CarlSteezer Baylor Bears • Army Black Knights 27d ago

Pretty much

5

u/sitgespain 27d ago

Man, you must be miserable at least half the time of the year or more

1

u/CarlSteezer Baylor Bears • Army Black Knights 27d ago

Half is a conservative estimate

2

u/leggostrozzz 27d ago

I mean that's nothing to do with nfl vs college, thats just you being a bigger fan of baylor/army than whatever nfl team.

1

u/CarlSteezer Baylor Bears • Army Black Knights 27d ago

It’s about the emotion of college vs the corporate feel of NFL. A lot of NFL games are like a Teams meeting

1

u/leggostrozzz 27d ago

Can only speak for the Texans but im STH and in-person its definitely not that vibe. Although some stadiums ive visited (Arizona, Dallas, Vegas) have felt like off sure but ive also visited other great environments too (Boston, KC, GB)

3

u/Adams5thaccount Boise State Broncos • UNLV Rebels 27d ago

the NFL needs to expand to like 64 teams and then we'll get more random parity gaps and passionate hatreds

3

u/Sagamonsta Texas Longhorns 27d ago

Corporate

4

u/Rohn- Wisconsin Badgers 27d ago

Unless the Bears are doing good, of course. FTP

3

u/lkn240 Illinois Fighting Illini • Sickos 27d ago

FTP

All hail our lord and savior Ben Johnson

2

u/coldcoffeeplease Georgia Bulldogs 27d ago

FTP but crying in Detroit Lions over Ben Johnson.

1

u/TheBourbonTurtle Cincinnati Bearcats 27d ago

Lol no, average NFL games are an utter snooze fest. I'll watch any random college game, I'm not even turning on an NFL game unless "my team" is on.

-2

u/DuckDuckBangBang Illinois Fighting Illini 27d ago

I dunno, as. Seahawks fan, the Rams games last year were pretty satisfying. But I generally agree.

2

u/GP_ADD Alabama • Mississippi State 27d ago

Was the entire crowd chanting fuck Mcvay and mocking the whatever the Rams are known for? The only thing close to it is every fucking fan base(except maybe the panthers due to hometown team type thing) booing Watson

1

u/lkn240 Illinois Fighting Illini • Sickos 27d ago

Bears/Packers is pretty close. We absolutely will chant "fuck the Packers"

Our coach might even scream it after the game

1

u/bringbackwishbone Indiana Hoosiers 27d ago

Bears Packers is the only nfl rivalry that’s even close, and it isn’t even really that close

-15

u/fourmentracking Florida Gators 27d ago

Garbage take

3

u/IrishTexan62 Texas Tech • Michigan State 27d ago

Ah! The smell of the college football chaos on a September evening. Can't beat just how refreshing it is.

2

u/StrykerNightowl UConn Huskies 27d ago

As a West Ham fan…the first half was not fun but the second half was.

2

u/mitchdwx Penn State • Bowling Green 27d ago

As a neutral I’m just glad to see that derby return. Hopefully it’s able to continue past this season…I doubt it though since West Ham looks like a strong candidate for promotion.

1

u/StrykerNightowl UConn Huskies 27d ago

My first introduction to this rivalry was the 3-1 extra time Hammers win in the League Cup in 09.

That was a wild night but I’m glad the rivalry is back. I just hope we go up though. Let Tottenham come down and deal with them…lol

4

u/esports_consultant Rose Bowl • Harvard-Yale 27d ago

Brighton fans singing "you're Tottenham in disguise" after 3-0ing Arsenal was pretty top class let's be real

1

u/DejaJaws Arkansas Razorbacks 27d ago

Epic. Arsenal and Tottenham being each others main rivals is valid considering outside of England that have an empty trophy cabinet.

1

u/esports_consultant Rose Bowl • Harvard-Yale 26d ago

Europa League is second tier but it is still considered a European trophy.

2

u/RainingFireInTheSky Illinois Fighting Illini 27d ago

I'm safe

2

u/azsoup Penn State • Arizona 27d ago

You’re right. It felt a little bit like some of those big game, regional rivalries, before the big conferences.

2

u/ElSmasho420 San Diego State Aztecs • Auburn Tigers 27d ago

I said it at the end of last year.

Kiffin got Ole Miss to the playoffs and could have stayed for 5+ years off that achievement alone. Now his stupid ass has to win a national championship within probably the next three years.

Good luck player, you’re going to need it.

1

u/ekurisona 27d ago

except in the ohio state michigan game there cant be any hate there because its unreasonable bc a rando new hire coach there for a paycheck said so

0

u/cates 27d ago

my whole 5 years at LSU I didn't give a shit about football but I heard "go to hell ole miss" at least once a week... I always appreciated the dedication.

-5

u/MeTieDoughtyWalker LSU Tigers 27d ago

The hatred was very one sided but I also think that passion was the deciding factor in the game. You could tell in the beginning Ole Miss just wanted it more. I think the second half was more like what the game would have been without the emotion, including us shooting ourselves in the foot multiple times and losing. 😂

5

u/bringbackwishbone Indiana Hoosiers 27d ago

The revisionist history after big teams lose big games is always entertaining. This is LSU-Ole Miss we’re talking about here

-3

u/MeTieDoughtyWalker LSU Tigers 27d ago

You’re talking to the wrong person with that made up nonsense. LSU has no rivals. We dislike everyone equally. I get why Ole Miss wanted to beat us so badly and rightfully so. There was no added benefit outside of the normal for us to beat them. All I care about is the team improving every week and so far they have, even tonight, and I look forward to next Saturday for another great game.
