Kiffin would win a title at Ole Miss this year

Instead he just lost at Ole Miss this year

I will never for the life of me understand leaving a team during your first ever (and possibly last) playoff run as a college football coach. I just can't do wrap my head around it. The difference in lifestyle between 10 million and 20 million is not the same as the difference between 1 million and 10 million.

If he had really wanted that job - LSU absolutely would've waited for him. He might have had a harder first year in the process but only if he coached in the national title game. If they lost with him coaching, he wouldn't have lost much if any time to spend on the recruiting trail.

We were also matching LSU’s offer. It’s an insane move

Like I don't get it. Winning playoff games permanently increases his annual income no matter the job he takes in the future. His decision was just unwise and not even short sighted, just dumb. LSU nationally probably is more prestigious in every sport over Ole Miss. But that was because a different coach, Saban and Les Miles mostly, built that. If he wants prestige, he doesn't realize he can't just ride someone's coattails. He has build it. Ole Miss was a relatively blank canvas and he was starting a masterpiece. Somehow he handed a guy a playoff win for his first game AND that guy just beat him. Not only that, they probably have a Heisman candidate AND a chance at going to the playoffs again if they can manage 2 or less losses in Conference thanks to this win.

As a Hawkeye, LSU will always be amonst my most hated between recent WBB rivalries and also gave me one of my fondest memories in football - Tate to Holloway. Technically we are 1-0 all time against LSU since they cheated / vacated their bowl win against us as Former offensive lineman Vadal Alexander competed while ineligible for his entire career (2012–2015) after a booster's embezzlement scheme funneled payments to Alexander's father.

He left because he wanted to leave. There’s no other explanation. I think y’all will come out on top in the long run though

20

u/gmr548 Texas Longhorns • Washington Huskies 27d ago

Fair, but I think Chambliss probably overcomes that for him. We’ll never know though.

I swear he may have won it last year if he had stayed. He is his own worst enemy!!

Ole miss was never beating IU

11

u/Draxilar Ole Miss Rebels 27d ago

Ole Miss was never beating UGA either…..

u/Tim_thatporscheguy 27d ago

No one was beating IU. UGA included. And I said that last year too, it's not even hindsight

u/Draxilar Ole Miss Rebels 27d ago

Kiffin would have won one last year, the team was one score away from being in the natty WITH the circus surrounding them.

24

u/MatticusGisicus Ole Miss • Louisiana Tech 27d ago

Nah we would have lost to Georgia. He’d never have kicked those field goals and we’d have gotten stomped

9

u/Draxilar Ole Miss Rebels 27d ago

That’s very true

3

u/Thelonius_Dunk Ole Miss Rebels 27d ago

He had everything set up to be a legend at Ole Miss tbh. Im talking shit named after you. Would've required a decade of consistency but not impossible considering the recent successes.

2

u/YoungManYoda90 Michigan Wolverines 27d ago

This fact is why I hope Ole Miss wins the championship without him this season. Would be incredibly awesome to see the team he left to go to another team to win a championship win without him.

Another theoretical SEC win

u/PurpleHazelnuts Oregon State Beavers 27d ago

He might have won one last year too lol

u/GarnetandBlack South Carolina • Navy 27d ago

No he wouldn't.

Kiffin chokes every time it's all on the line, and also usually loses one he absolutely shouldn't.

Which is going to be really funny when Golding fumbles it again.

He thought he could get Trinidad to go with him but Ole Miss and Pete locked down that team quick

Dumbass spent so much time on NFL players that weren't allowed back he completely missed on his favorite QB who had just won his court case to keep playing (after finding the right judge). Even better is that he was chasing Sorsby before Levitt.

Us asu fans were tryna tell LSU fans that we genuinely weren't salty... we were being honest when we said he just isn't an actual QB.

3

u/Thatonegingerkid Arizona State Sun Devils 27d ago

Idk I was pretty damn salty about how handled leaving. Dude acted like a punk that was above ASU. I get that it's 2026 and players can and will dip out for more money but he handled it just about as poorly and immaturely as you can.

3

u/valkislowkeythicc Arizona State • Michigan 27d ago

I completely agree, hence the reason why ASU fans didn't wish him well whatsoever. IMO most ASU fan wished Jayden Daniel's did well when he transferred even if it stung. Leavitt disrespected the team, started shopping around mid season, and didn't even come to the end of season awards event. He completely quit on the people that gave him an opportunity.
Edit: I'd say we were salty, but it wasn't because he was some world ender QB, it's because he disrespected the program.

His brother/agent is a huge loser

2

u/DidgeridooPlayer LSU Tigers 27d ago

The last time that ASU fans/teammates shit on a QB who transferred to LSU, that guy turned out really awesome. Obviously being vague to avoid any legal action from said QB.

8

u/DillyDillySzn Arizona State Sun Devils • WashU Bears 27d ago

However, this past month you’re discovering really quickly why maybe his teammates and fans don’t particularly like the Daniels family

5

u/valkislowkeythicc Arizona State • Michigan 27d ago

😂😂😂, don't mention el cinco. To be fair tho, very different situations. Daniel's left because we got in recruiting violations, and as an asu student, it was all but confirmed but his mom not only was complicit and helped with the recruiting violations, but she also allegedly fucked one of the coaches, which caused a lot of the hated and flack. Ofcourse, rumors, but as a student it was damn near an open secret for the entire season before sanctions. Leavitt left because he got injured playing recreational basketball (also an unconfirmed but open secret rumor). His brother, who is his agent, then started talking to other schools during the season. He also didn't show up to the end of season team award ceremony, and has shit talked ASU at damn near every opportunity. The hatred for Leavitt is much more pure, and I think it adds to the fact that we brought this guy from third string MSU qb to playoff QB in one year, and everyone was acting like it was him.

lane's playing the long con, bruh. we can hate on him—maybe we should—but it was the "right" move: leaving Ole Miss for LSU.

as is always with the case with lane kiffin, it's always the "how" of the execution of his decision-making process.

Kiffin has failed towards his entire career. Always leaving before accomplishing anything. Can't wait for the fall after LSU!

u/mcsestretch Kentucky Wildcats 27d ago

Not long after NC State had a generational fumble earlier in the day.

-6

u/MeTieDoughtyWalker LSU Tigers 27d ago

I mean, long term he’s in a much better situation. And that’s no knock on Ole Miss. LSU just has much better resources. I did not expect us to even have a chance in this game before the season started and was almost right, but it turned out to be pretty close to even in the end.

7

u/Amazing-Log-61 27d ago

LSU and “long term” don’t really go together. You get a few years, make a few tens of millions, to break some laws or bribe some people and maybe win a championship before some shoes drop and you’re out.

Scummy university

Lane left for a better school. Enjoy hate watching LSU in the CFP while Miss is at home and Chambliss is selling cars lmao
