God our secondary is terrible, really missed me some D’Angelo Ponds today

Credit to Northwestern, their goal line D was a brick wall, Chiles played like a stud, and that onside kick gave me a heart attack

Shoutout Beebe for the monster 204yd night after Turbo went down

Missing the leadership of Aiden Fisher on D as well.

Miss him so much, invaluable green dot for us

I’m losing faith in Hoover. Dude needs to figure out the timing with Marsh and how to hit Becker in stride.

What's really annoying is that he'll just airmail like 3 straight passes and then throw 3 absolute dots. He legit seems to mix great and awful plays in bunches. It's bizarre.

It feels like a chemistry problem. I can tell he’s an experienced QB but he doesn’t seem comfortable with his very good receivers yet.

Part chemistry and part he just missed guys sometimes. I’m not deep enough in the weeds to see if it’s a mechanics issue or what but every game he just has some pretty inexcusable sprays. We’re pretty lucky none of them have become turnovers yet

As a Bears fan, it feels like Season 1 Caleb Williams. Just missing throws despite his undeniable talent.

I think it’s this. Come back in a couple weeks and if it’s still an issue, we’ve got a real problem on our hands.

TCU fans have been warning you lol

Yeah he is just the most consistently inconsistent out of the 3 QBs we have had under Cig. You know there are at least three drives where he looks unstoppable and three drives where he looks like he has never played QB before.

u/OwnWalrus1752 Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

IMO so far he hasn’t really looked unstoppable. He’s had a few good throws but not a consistently great drive.

I didn’t watch a ton of TCU over the years but enough that that was exactly my impression of Hoover. One drive he looks like a 1st round pick, the next he looks like he doesn’t even deserve to be a walk-on. At least those wtf moments have not resulted in turnovers so that’s seemed to improve at least.

What I’ve taken from his play is exactly this.

What I’ve also noticed is when taking shots at receivers it’s like he picks the wrong shoulder. It should be an outside shoulder, he throws it inside. And vice versa of course

Lmao glad to see he hasnt changed a bit.

He often stares his first read down, and still sometimes mistimes the route. Lots of talent, but he's really raw.

As a fifth year senior, that's pretty odd; it kinda feels like if he hasn't figured it out by now he's not gonna.

Fr, it was rough to watch Hoover today

25

u/nhammond91 Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

There’s still a lot of time. We got too spoiled with Mendoza. Hoover had a lot of good plays, but hopefully he can clean it up overall.

We said that about him for years. Hopefully the change of coaching will help more, but he's always been like this. Except he didn't throw any interceptions tonight, so that's progress!

Rutgers isn’t going to be easy and it’s a road game. They need some hard conversations this week.

3

u/nhammond91 Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

Yeah but even if they can eke out wins like this while improving and tightening it up I think they will be fine.

2

u/OwnWalrus1752 Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

I hope so. Cignetti and Co have been very good so far but there is more external noise creeping in (e.g. State Farm ad). Can they continue to tighten up?

u/SecondBreakfast814 Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

Game is 100% completely different and 21-0 if he just hits his wide open receivers on the hands in the first half, kinda of wild he’s the yards leader for FBS QBs. Looked anything but tonight

Maybe he should consider actually becoming a furry?

2

u/pooterness90 Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

I will absorb the faith in him that you’re losing. He makes a lot of incredible throws too and reads the field really well. He’s going to get on the same page with Marsh and make some noise here in the next couple weeks.

If you guys had Mendoza instead you would’ve covered the spread

u/Medium-Bird3204 Ohio State Buckeyes 21d ago

He looks like he is smelling farts all game

Zachmann can hit and tackle at safety, but isnt a cover guy.

10

u/KnightroZaxby 21d ago

Standout worst player on IU D

11

u/AlfredtheGreatBitch Baylor Bears 21d ago

Beebe is so good. Glad he’s finally getting his shot.

3

u/OwnWalrus1752 Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

Tbf he would’ve had a shot last year if he didn’t have horrible injury luck. He was cooking before the injury.

u/SnicketySneme Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

I think Northwestern is a good football team tbh

7

u/FloatCopper Indiana • Michigan Tech 21d ago

Until the rollout, all Shanahan used near the goal line was his inner Dinardo.

5

u/AdamOnFirst Northwestern Wildcats 21d ago

Our D line is bad and Beebe ran all the fuck over it

2

u/toomanyshoeshelp Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

Our secondary was bad and your TE and WR killed it today

3

u/Worth-Frosting-2917 Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

Less of Ponds and more of Moore, if we are being honest. Bonds needs to move back to where Zachman is because that dude is always like 5 steps behind.

2

u/byte4de 21d ago

They really are. Credit to Chiles for picking us apart in the 2nd half. Other teams will be salivating to throw against us. I can see Smith at OSU having a career day against us.

2

u/JoeWim Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

AJ Harris is still out and he’s the replacement for Ponds. Once hes back and in the groove it should look better.

3

u/toomanyshoeshelp Indiana Hoosiers 21d ago

He's only practiced 20% of the practices with the team since he joined

He's really behind.
