In 2013 we were 4-0 and hosted OSU at home for Gameday. We duked it out with them the whole game but lost 40-30 with the last play being a fumble taken for a touchdown I believe. NU wasn’t able to recover emotionally and completely fell apart the rest of the season. We have never fielded as complete of a team on both sides of the ball until now.

I feel like there is too much experience on this coaching staff to let that happen again and Braun doesn’t seem like the type to coach like that either but until proven otherwise the most important game for this team this season is next week against Penn State. Get that win and everything is on the table the rest of the way.

I know people like to shit in the current era, but it is pretty cool to see someone like Chiles and Kelly who at some point were just tossed aside be able to revive themselves at a place like northwestern.

At one time NU was the place for that kind of experimentation at least on offense. Then a certain somebody found out he could hire Mike Hankwitz and ride that train to like 8 consecutive seasons of defensive excellence while doing squat on the recruiting and offensive front

I mean chip Kelly just won a national championship as an OC two years ago at Ohio State lol

Honestly it’s really fun as an outside fan to be stoked about a good game between Indiana and Northwestern. Indiana has been lighting in a bottle but for anyone that’s been paying attention the past 3 years Northwestern is legit and not a trap game like they used to be.

my god I’m happy for NW but the Chip Kelly revisionism is maddening

Seriously, it's really hard to be a good OC or HC in the NFL. Nick Saban struggled in the NFL

I don’t care about his NFL flop. I care about the way he completely gutted the UCLA football program

What revisionism? Lol he ended up OC at NU.

I think college OC is without a doubt his calling at this stage of his career, he’s never made it a secret that he didn’t enjoy the off field duties that came with being a college HC. NFL just isn’t for him either. I miss him WAY more at OSU than I thought I would, especially his run concepts. I say that as someone who is also an Eagles fan and is still disappointed with how his tenure played out in Philly. Even considering the stable he had to work with at OSU, that postseason run was a masterclass of offensive playcalling.

This is fair. The problem is a lot of people can’t parse these things and see him succeed as an OC and think somehow it vindicates is HC failure at UCLA or acts like somehow we failed him rather than the reverse.
