Hawks throw an incomplete pass on 3rd and long with under a minute left, it's basically game over and then a Michigan player picks up a completely unnecessary 15 yard penalty for a personal foul (shoved an Iowa player after the play was over) and gives the Hawks a free 1st down.
The other really stupid thing being referenced is probably a player in the Tennessee - Texas game celebrating a play by miming masturbation, which drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Considering how many times Utes players were whistled for personal fouls, late hits, and other stupid ass sloppy penalties under Whitt, he's not going to clean anything up. I ALWAYS hated that about his teams here, just constant sloppy bullshit giving up penalties.
I feel like a crazy person when everyone thinks Whittigham's teams were super-disciplined and penalty free. Did nobody but me and Utah fans watch Utah games?
To be honest, we were not committing this many stupid penalties under Sherrone Moore. We either won by opponents underestimating us or got boatraced because of coaching malpractice.
I think he will get the team back to form. That defense is formidable and the offense, by all measures, should be dog walking most teams. I didn’t think we stood a chance.
99 yard td return, failed 4th and one in the red zone and a red zone int. Michigan could’ve easily won this game by double digits but they shot themselves in the foot 17 different ways
This year Michigan is 118th at 71 yards a game(going up after this game), 2025 was 18th at 39 yards a game, 2024 was 13th at 39 yards a game. Harbaugh in championship year was 3rd at 27 yards a game. We are currenltly giving the team half a football field extra in yardage more.
Yeah, Moore's teams had some of the lowest penalty rates.
Everyone has been making Sherrone jokes for the last year but the buried lede is that this team under Whittingham is one of the most penalized Michigan teams since at least the Hoke era.
Interestingly enough, Michigan always had very few dead ball penalties like that (and more often drew them, like at OSU in 2022). Since Harbaugh left, team discipline has been much worse.

That personal foul by #10 was one of the stupidest things I’ve seen a player do since earlier this afternoon
