The total yardage looks like a glitch in a video game

Total yardage doesn’t account for the special teams TD

Or an intercepton at the two yard line.

Or Wittingham inexplicably choosing to go for it on 4th down against KF instead of taking the points.

He’s new here. He will eventually learn to always take your points in an Iowa game when you aren’t up by 30.

For real. Some mind numbingly stupid decisions by coaches and players to keep Iowa in the game. Iowa took full advantage kudos to them

It really felt like it was KW’s first time playing Iowa and KF. He got taken to the schoolhouse.

Doubt it, he used to. Now he goes overboard with analytics, just watch the Utah BYU game last year. Literally lost because he’s a fucking moron

Do not hold your breath on that

Not only that, but Underwood dove like it was at the goal line and you juat need to break the plane.

Now, to be fair, had he "just taken the points", he would have been dragged. "How can you not go for it against Iowa on 4th and 1! We are Michigan".

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Armchair Coaching always wins games, after the fact.

Yes but objectively, taking the points against an Iowa team who wins by keeping the score low is how to beat Iowa. Midfield is a great place to go for it on 4th and short against Iowa. Going for it when you could go up by 6 (an FG from the Iowa 18) in the first half is a riskier proposition.

I was at the game. It was a weird game because watching it Michigan looked like they were dominating and then you'd look at the scoreboard and be like oh its only 10-7

We're like quicksand.

In 2014 we beat the Gators 42-13, with just 119 yards of offense and 7 first downs.

When considering return yards and penalty yards the "effective total" is 510 for Iowa to 515 for Michigan, with a 1-0 turnover margin favoring Iowa. Seeing as how the return TD and penalty yards were crucial in this game, it's a bit more sensible.
