That video of #8 smiling and celebrating putting Moore in the hospital is so disgusting it had Washington fans rooting for Oregon. It felt like the whole country came together for just one game.

Craziest shit I’ve ever seen. Doing an angel wings celebration while a guy is actively seizing on the field is absolutely insane, and then the whole sideline celebrating along with him. Crucify Lincoln Riley

Lincoln has to answer for this; its his team and the fact he just stood there burying his face in his iPad while his players celebrated a dirty hit is wild.

Unfortunately I think most OU fans would tell you there's zero surprise of seeing that, even ignoring the obvious spite of the way he left.

It's why I think Venables should get one more shot at going all in on an OC of his choosing. Firmly believe he's built a culture that will win just so long as we get the right OC in. When USC got Gary Patterson I was legitimately worried because it fits the bill of getting a defensive mastermind to complement Lincoln's offense. But it just goes to show it doesn't mean shit if you have poor team culture.

He might have the opportunity to hire Lincoln lol.

I’ll be honest though - I don’t think OU has an OC problem, I think they have a Mateer problem. But they were a package deal, which makes it messy.

The line is a bigger problem that spans five different OCs.

I’m sure there’s issues, but Mateer is the biggest (in terms of being a legitimate CFP contender). He’s not like the worst QB in the league, but he’s not a guy that can make things happen on his own at this level.

He’s literally Beau Pribula.

Do you know how many rushing yards we had against New Mexico in the second half?

There’s a couple things there though to my eyes:

  • Arbuckle’s offensive scheme w/ Mateer is built around a competent QB run game. He has proven to be nothing special in that area in the SEC. He’s also just not creative off script.
  • I know they’ve had some injuries there over the years, but OU has had a major talent deficiency at RB last year and this year. That matters a lot at the college level.

Mateer isn't great at running or processing the field. Running back has had multiple four stars. That tells me it's either poor evaluations or poor coaching. Considering how well Smothers played at two different schools after leaving us, I'd tend to lean towards inadequate coaching.

Texas fans would agree. We dealt with that for years too.

You guys got really lucky that he left for USC tbh. If Venables can get a good OC, you’re right back in it again. He’s a fantastic defensive coach/mind, just needs some help on offense. College football is better when Oklahoma is better.

One more shot? He's 0/4
