All these losers in here excited about their “we played a good team tough” trophy. We lost. Actually we choked (up 11 with 9 mins left)..there is no consolation prize. We are a loser program with loser mentality . Boycott this program until they win a ranked game

Funny how the Indiana fans are complaining about barely beating a 2nd tier Big Ten team and the Nebraska fans are complaining that Rhule can’t beat ranked teams. Nobody’s happy today. lol

u/BoogerSugarSovereign Indiana Hoosiers • College Football Playoff 7d ago
Naturally we have a lot of fans that haven't been following the team for as long as others. I have been following the team since I attended almost 20 years ago now and I am perfectly happy with the win.
Fact is most of the other programs in the AP top 10 have elite high school recruiting as their foundation and they sprinkle in impact transfers. Indiana hasn't built that sort of roster depth yet. Nebraska definitely has that. Not to the level of Ohio State or Michigan but they have a lot of 4* or better athletes on their roster. These are always going to be really tough games for Indiana until we can build to having more athletic talent behind the starters, I'm just happy to win it.
Some people will lose their minds if Indiana follows up on the championship with a 10-2 or 9-3 season but I will be happy as long as we keeping building on the recruiting trail to stabilize the team.

Indy escapes again against a second echelon B1G team. Dammit, schedule some more Howard U's! On a more serious note, believe your own eyes. Indy is what they seem. A good team, but not a real good team.

I don't get the whole schedule or 5th year hate. They're playing smart within the rules, people just don't like the rules. Smart to schedule like this bc cfp committee doesn't care. why TF schedule anything else? If anything it helps tune up and anything else it's just risky early on. Same schedule as last year and the results speak for itself. Not happening this year but it's not the schedule, last years team just had better players
18
u/LearnedHandJob2088 Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago
I would feel like such a d-bag if I waltzed into an Ohio State thread after they win on the road to talk crap and called them “Ohio” or some other stupid word that nobody calls them.
-6
u/ThurstonDrive Ohio State Buckeyes 7d ago
Actually, calling Ohio State "Ohio" would be like calling Indy "Indy State". Hope that helps with your confusion.
5
u/LearnedHandJob2088 Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago
Nobody shortens Indiana to Indy, guy. That’s Indianapolis. IU is not in Indianapolis.
You sound like an idiot, on top of being a clear d-bag for trolling other team’s threads.

It ain’t the past. Big 10 is dog shit this year there’s not really a debate either.

Big talk coming from a Big 12 school...look at the SEC brother. It's all over the place.
-1

Yea cus the bad teams in the SEC would be good teams in the big 10.
10
u/fazelenin02 Nebraska Cornhuskers 7d ago
Every year this is said and every year SEC teams lose in the playoffs to big ten teams
1
u/OneWayorAnother11 Ohio State Buckeyes 7d ago
4-10 in bowl games last year vs 11-5 proves otherwise.
2
u/EmpoleonNorton Georgia Bulldogs • Georgia Bulldogs 7d ago
Do you count bowl records from years Mizzou beat OSU as well, or do the opt outs matter then?
(I'm not even arguing about which conference was better or not last year, I don't give a shit, just find it funny how stuff like bowl games matter or not depending on which support your argumentl.)
1
u/OneWayorAnother11 Ohio State Buckeyes 7d ago
Count whatever makes you feel good. It's a loss in the record books. The only asterisk in that record book is owned by the other M school.
8
u/USS-Awesome 7d ago
Matt Rhule proving again he can’t beat a ranked team. 2 in his entire coaching career
1
u/shawn131871 7d ago
we might beat a ranked team if Oregon stays ranked next week. they have 5 turnovers right now.
2
2
u/shyndy Nebraska Cornhuskers 7d ago
I feel like this stat is not really fair to the situations he has been coaching, including this one where winning a game like this has been a Nebraska problem like since 2002
2
u/USS-Awesome 7d ago
Also don't try to tell me that the end of the first half and the end of that game was well coached
3
u/USS-Awesome 7d ago
Should have kept big Bo and been happy to be 9-3 for the rest of time. Thats about as good as it will get. Can't compete with oil money or teams bankrolled by billionaires.
2
u/sumoman485 Nebraska Cornhuskers 7d ago
We're pretty high up there in spending. https://thesideline.co/nil-tracker
1
u/USS-Awesome 7d ago
The problem is who knows where that number comes from? I mean https://thenilstandard.com/football/teams?conf=big-ten (~$10m difference 25% margin of error between two sources doesn't really inspire much confidence). My guess is that spending is right at or below median in the Big10...which is just about right to go 9-3 every year and get the occasional ranked win. ie the whole Pelini era.
7
u/digitaldigdug Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

I feel for the Huskers too but didn't their rich boosters buy up all the empty seats week after week during some of their really down years to keep that streak going? They do deserve more but it's not because they kept sell out streak going if that's what you're getting at.

Definitely out played them.... but continue with the weird defeatist comments

I'm with you. This loss was devastating precisely because we showed up and played so well for 3 quarters. The wind left our sails on that big touchdown run and we just couldn't keep going. I'm still excited for the trajectory and I'm grateful we have a QB like Colandrea to lead them this season.
0
u/Pun1shedeagle 7d ago
Yeah Nebraska loses MAYBE 2 more games this year. That was an awesome showing.
14
u/spookydookie Nebraska Cornhuskers 7d ago
The trauma is real. But we are miles ahead of where we were a few years ago, and you can see it on the field. We took the defending champs down to the wire. Before this game every fan would have been happy with that, they’re just frustrated in how we lost.

u/PossibleEquivalent90 Nebraska Cornhuskers • Sickos 6d ago
You just act like this is the first time this has happened. Maybe your expectations as a fan have dropped to "almost is good enough". Personally, I think having Cam Lenhart in the secondary on a critical 4th Down was inexplicably stupid. But golly gee shucks, Matt Rhule almost took a timeout to prevent catastrophe.
Nebraska almost beat future national champion Ohio State in 2024, and that was a meaningless "almost won" in a decade long stretch of almost.
Nebraska's offense is devolving into the Adrian Martinez offense because it can only reliably run the football with the QB. It's cute for a game but it isn't a real offense and it won't sustain itself.

Rich talking bad about another team for playing a ranked game when that very same week Indiana played Howard and the best wins of the season are vs unranked teams.
2
u/White_Whale2 Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago
You clearly can’t read and that’s okay. Week 2 wins mean nothing. No one is “talking bad about another team for playing a ranked game” I’m simply responding to the hypothetical laid out here that IU would lose by 20+ to OSU when the game is next week
1
u/Best_Ad7046 7d ago
You’re talking in a condescending tone in the above comment about a team playing a completely optional highly ranked matchup and demeaning the value of the game. You can’t get more in the definition of talking bad about it lmao.
1

Certainly feel better about this year's Nebraska than the last 10, so there's some progress.
But, Indiana came out playing a much better 2nd half while Nebraska just sorta shot themselves in the foot, several times.
3
u/devereaux Wisconsin Badgers 7d ago
The Hoosiers are the defending national champions though. It's not they are just some generally decent team.

Nebraska almost beat future national champion Ohio State in 2024.
The team is better but the results are the same. Monumental collapse because they are incapable of doing better.
I'm sure my fellow Nebraska fans will relish another moral victory enter a hard fought loss to a mediocre Oregon team playing their 3rd string QB. We all know it's coming but at least it'll be a sign of progress that they almost did the unthinkable.
