I was at the game today and when Indiana hit the long TD to get to 13 the stadium got so fucking tight because everyone knew what was coming. Sorry nebraska bros
I honestly started drinking a lot, as we looked like used toilet paper; perhaps saint Ferando, well with his speeches, brought the "Glory of God to IU fans‽
Idk how you all do it. I believe every time they get a ranked opponent on the ropes but subconsciously know what’s coming each time and it hurts to watch
I honestly didn't believe we were winning that game (at half) because I know Cig has that shit running tight. The fact that we kept it this close against an Indiana that hasn't appeared to drop THAT much of a step from last year means we kept a game in a similar spot as the 2nd place team from last year (who is ranked 10 right now)... feels pretty good considering the shit show this team has been.
That was rough, I had a feeling in the moment that we should of backed that FG up a bit to open up his target and felt the miss had the potential to affect the outcome. The fact a FG determined the outcome was so much more than I expected. Before kockoff, I expected Indiana was a 10-20 point favorite in real production, even if the spread was only 7.5. Sucks to lose that game for sure but I am happy with the product this season. They are playing good football on both sides of the ball. The Huskers have maybe 2 seasons of football with this level of play on both sides since maybe Solich.
A very (very) small part of me feels bad because the Nebraska fan base is so loyal. But the other, much larger part, enjoys the yearly rug pull. I do think you guys are actually a solid squad this year though.
I truly think that if this team played our schedule from last year, we win at least 11 games. The schedule this year is just brutal. We have to pull an upset against Oregon, OSU, or Iowa just to hit 9 wins
I’ve learned just to not have any expectations against y’all. I thought Iowa was gonna blow us out in 22 and 23, but we won in 22 and kept 23 competitive. Then last year I thought you looked mortal so I felt that we had a chance, only to get our doors blown off despite Emmett making that defense look like children.
You could come back from two months in the future and give me any result; close win, close loss, blowout win, blowout loss, or even somehow a fucking tie; and I’d believe you.
Going for it on 4th and long with almost 5 mins and 2 timeouts left was a panic move. IU couldn’t run the ball and they’re punting into a strong wind, gives you likely great field position and plenty of time to tie or even win at the end. Also why not sell out and try and block the last punt?
Thing that was different here though is that we mostly dominated the game for three quarters and looked relatively decent doing it.
In all those past teams where we’d blow games at the end, it was usually against worse teams where we played like ass overall or against a better team where we mostly get dominated, but still kind of hang around to keep it close and then ultimately blow it.
Losing this game sucks obviously, but it never seemed like we didn’t belong on the same field as a top ten team. Which is basically what’s happened the last ten years.
They are 5-1 with their one loss coming against the defending champions whose last loss was in the playoff two years ago. It can't be that soup crushing.
I disagree that this was a soul crushing loss, Indiana was the favorite. Sure it would have been great to get another W, I think the entire state would have exploded with joy however, it was a close game and the huskers played hard to the bitter end, I don't see this as a huskers 4th quarter choke but rather that Indiana is a really great team with a great coach and they adjusted and just barely outplayed us, but we still controlled the game for 3 quarters. I think the blackshirts really showed up this game and as fans we need to be proud of how well we are actually doing rather than being butt hurt that we aren't going undefeated and winning the championship. Freaking weak fans crying as soon as we get a loss. We just showed we can play at the same level as one of the best teams in college football, why is no one focusing on that?
Missed a field goal that any self respecting college kicker should make
Went away from a lot of the play designs that were working for us in the first half
Bad missed tackle on a big touchdown
Bad decision making by Colandrea on those last two third and long attempts (had 8 yard check downs wide tf open both times and could’ve either gotten a catch and run for the first or at least made 4th down a lot more manageable)
Couple of bad drops
Backbreaking penalties
We had dozens of opportunities to win this game and just didn’t.
if not for that roughing the passer penalty, your 4th quarter collapse would have been one for the ages. it was still pretty impressive, terrible defensive lapses combined with an offense that struggled to get a first down during crunch time
