What an UGLY, classic BIG 10 game.

Cignetti deciding to play conservative and punt / kick most of the game, just to go balls to the wall in the 4th that led to the second Nick Marsh TD was crazy to see. Nebraska is a tough team and Colandrea showed he’s the real deal.

I am tired at being on the losing end of Classic Big Ten games.

That's part of what makes it classic, though!

Cignetti doesn't call offensive or defensive plays. This is all our coordinators outside of the odd play or two. Like throwing a pass to D'Angelo Ponds in the peach bowl was all Cignetti.

Shanahan is massively conservative with good defenses. Tendency to turtle till we build momentum.

Stop our momentum you can kill us, and losing the run game hurt immensely

Does Cignetti not make calls on whether to punt/go for it, and kick the PAT/go for two? I assume so as most head coaches do as far as I know and those decisions were more conservative for most of the game (which he obviously knows what he's doing, so no criticism at all, dude just wins).

I don’t know what the other guy is talking about. No Cignetti does not call the plays but he absolutely is the one that decides to go for it on 4th or go for 2 lol.

I genuinely did not know. I only knew Cignetti did not call plays. I could see him ceding the decision to Shanahan at times to do timeouts or not

He's the HC man ... all the big time decisions go thru the HC .. He's the head honcho ... the buck stops with him

I had a typo in my message.

I'm not sure honestly.

I think it's probably a split, but he's ceded playcalling duties by and large to Shanahan for years, going back to at least JMU if not at Elon.

He does do the timeouts though of course.

Cig has a lot of say on offense. He doesn’t touch the defense at all though.

Colandrea is so far from the real deal lmao. He’s the exact same dude he was at UVA as a freshman.

Did we watch the same game? Dude was tearing our defense up for the better part of three quarters.

Yes, he did that at UVA. He also consistently made boneheaded mistakes to lose games at UVA.

We wouldn't have even been in this game without AC. The only bone headed mistake was the INT at the 2, and that ended up being a positive because we couldn't make a FG from where we were and IU went 3 and out on that series.

How he coached last year with Mendoza. Him winning the same way with Hoover makes me think Mendoza was drafted way too high

Cignetti is great at maximizing QB potential, but there’s a reason he gets experienced guys out of the portal. He looks for production from guys who have the right mentality and are coachable.
