the year is 2023. Someone tells you reigning champions IU's toughest games are against Northwestern and (also undefeated) Nebraska. You try to have them committed.
I think the ceiling has come down and the floor stayed where it is. Indiana, Ohio State, and Oregon aren't as dominant as they were a year ago. Illinois and Washington regressed majorly. Purdue still sucks, and so does Maryland, Rutgers, and Michigan State. Penn State and Michigan are mid. Nebraska, Iowa, UCLA, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, and USC are the B1Gs middle class, and there's a solid argument for more of them to be ranked.
The conference is not good. Nebraska is still Nebraska, but Indiana is no longer a death star. Oregon getting beat by Oklahoma state and now struggling with Ucla isn't an indicator of Ucla being good. It's an indicator of Oregon being mid.
Seriously what's more likely? Nebraska is good? Or Oregon/Indiana are having down years compared to recent history. They're coached by Matt Rhule. We do this same song and dance. They're ass. They're always going to be ass. And post Osborne they have always been ass.
Edit: I'll expect apologies when Nebraska loses to Kansas state in the Pinstripe bowl to finish 7-6 this year. They're not plucky underdogs, they're the same old dog turd wrapped in a blackshirt.
