SEC cannibalizing itself: Oh you’re sweet.

Old PAC-12 cannibalizing itself: HELLO HUMAN RESOURCES!

u/Vegetable_Kale_1331 Campbell Fighting Camels 6d ago

Went from no offensive TD in 3 years to beating the #1 Texas team!

161

u/ignatious__reilly NC State Wolfpack 6d ago

Arch is gonna be awful in the NFL

Anyone who keeps saying he’s the #1 pick is a moron. He’s just not that good

102

u/ManaPlox Oklahoma • North Carolina 6d ago

Arch is not going to be awful in the NFL. He might be awful in the CFL. Or Arena Football 2.

14

u/Neither-Luck-9295 Texas Longhorns 6d ago

LMAO. I keep thinking his comp is Jamarcus Russel, but I remember LSU Russel being absolutely fucking elite.

20

u/Kdot32 Houston Cougars • LSU Tigers 6d ago

Lsu Russell would shake defenders off and throw a rocket 50 yards downfield

12

u/HurryAdorable1327 Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

What??? Jamarcus was an absolute unit of a player. He was just missing a brain. But they are in no way close to comparable. If arch was arch Russell he wouldn’t even be at Texas.

2

u/Neither-Luck-9295 Texas Longhorns 6d ago

I shouldn't have said comp. I meant potential comp. Like, if he got his shit completely together, he could be a dumber version of Russel.

2

u/philleferg Arkansas Razorbacks • Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

I don't think that is actually possible. If it is, then Im tertified.

11

u/CorseHock69420 Oklahoma • Red River Shootout 6d ago

Jamarcus made it to the NFL without a last name

2

u/Tootsiez Texas Tech Red Raiders 6d ago

Unfortunately he feels like the biggest “shoe in” draft pick since Tim Tebow.

Maybe not a first round pick but the name alone will get him drafted if he’s in there.

4

u/ManaPlox Oklahoma • North Carolina 6d ago

But if you never play a game in the NFL are you actually awful in the NFL. I would contend that you're in a quantum superposition of being awful in the NFL and a regional HVAC commercial spokesperson until someone observes you being awful in the NFL and the wave function collapses.

15

u/lkn240 Illinois Fighting Illini • Sickos 6d ago

The thing is I think he has some talent, but his mechanics are so fucking terrible.

It's crazy he hasn't fixed them given who he's related to

8

u/TonyTheSnowman Texas Longhorns 6d ago

That's what coaching is for. Idk why Sark got this offensive guru attached to him. Anyone that has consistently watched us during his tenure knows how terrible of a play caller he is and that the overall talent tends to underperform.

3

u/The_Ghost_of_TK9 Oklahoma Sooners • Utah Utes 6d ago

2020 Alabama Crimson Tide. I think they have an argument as the greatest offense in history.

4

u/TonyTheSnowman Texas Longhorns 6d ago

Could that be just he had so much talent, that even he couldn't fuck it up? Waddle, Devonta, and Najee? I assume a great o-line.

1

u/The_Ghost_of_TK9 Oklahoma Sooners • Utah Utes 4d ago

Might be the greatest offensive line in CFB history.

Evan Neal, Landon Dickerson, Alex Leatherwood.

5

u/cardmanimgur Ohio State Buckeyes 6d ago

If his name was Arch Mannion we'd be talking about a day 3 sleeper with what he's actually shown.

3

u/nbunkerpunk Texas Longhorns • Paper Bag 6d ago

I knew we were fucked when I saw the article about Arch considering staying another year. At that moment I knew it was worse than even I thought. And I've been a hater two years running now.

3

u/BeanserSoyze Texas Longhorns 6d ago

He's a physical specimen so at least someone is taking an "I can fix him" flyer on him in the top 10

5

u/callmebatman14 6d ago

Anthony Richardson was picked number 3. Someone will take Arch in 2nd round at minimum just because of this name

2

u/at2wells Indiana Hoosiers • Navy Midshipmen 6d ago

Imagine lining up every jr/sr QB in the NCAA and picking Arch over all the rest of them

1

u/TheDarkGrayKnight Washington Huskies • Dordt Defenders 6d ago

I'll be surprised if he's even the first QB drafted.

1

u/soonerjohn06 Oklahoma • Midwestern State 6d ago

Go take a look at Manning vs. Mateer season stat line and cover up the names, then see if you can figure out which is which

16

u/IronClu Notre Dame • Boise State 6d ago

And still only one offensive TD lol

1

u/EIiteJT Texas Longhorns • Team Chaos 6d ago

That's the most painful part too. Fire our offense and special teams out of a cannon.

4

u/CorseHock69420 Oklahoma • Red River Shootout 6d ago

I think they did a great job

1

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

But still the best performance since 2023. Last two years sucked.

6

u/zadreth Oklahoma Sooners • Wyoming Cowboys 6d ago

With a special teams touchdown, a offensive touchdown, and a defensive touchdown.

4

u/Li0nsFTW Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

COMPLIMENTARY FOOTBALL -Bran Vestibules

7

u/Dongsquad420BlazeIt USC Trojans • Army Black Knights 6d ago

For the first time ever

3

u/Misdirected_Colors Oklahoma State Cowboys 6d ago

Bonus points for sending the Arch hype train into a ravine

0

u/FtWorthHorn Texas Longhorns 6d ago

And still with almost no offensive TD’s!

QUALITY WIN FOR MICHIGAN CONFIRMED

13

u/soupjaw Ohio State Buckeyes 6d ago

Transitive win over... us?

Not a fan, but maybe it helps take the juju away in November

8

u/FrostTroll69 Ohio State Buckeyes 6d ago

Yep. So that means western Michigan > Ohio State

3

u/soupjaw Ohio State Buckeyes 6d ago

I've never had any beef with directional Michigan schools (despite the song), so I'm strangely un-distressed by this newsw

13

u/joeh4384 Michigan • Wayne State (MI) 6d ago

Michigan and Oklahoma are pretty much the same team.

9

u/Raistandantilus Michigan Wolverines 6d ago

putrid offense with decent defense?

3

u/Traulinger Michigan Wolverines 6d ago

Bingo

3

u/gopoohgo Michigan • Wayne State (MI) 6d ago

More like ragebait for OU fans.

0

13-10

1

u/FrostTroll69 Ohio State Buckeyes 6d ago

18-7 since 2000

273

u/suzukigun4life North Texas • Summertime Lover 6d ago

OU really went from being outscored 83-3 the last 2 years in this rivalry, to walking off the #1 team in the country. What the actual fuck

154

u/aplethoraofhams Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

Red River baby

24

The shootout

Ranking does not matter in the Cotton Bowl. Anyone can beat anyone

5

u/No_Butterscotch8726 SMU Mustangs • Penn State Nittany Lions 6d ago edited 6d ago

Is that what you would blame for SMU's inconsistency, the fact that we used that place as our sometimes or definitive home for about 70 years of SMU's history?

2

u/splicerslicer Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

I'm not typically one to believe in superstition, but you have to at least acknowledge that with as much outright hatred exchanged there over the decades that it might be a bit cursed.

1

u/and_willy03 Texas Tech Red Raiders 3d ago

Id whoop all yall 👆

32

u/soonerfreak Red River Shootout • /r/CFB Patron 6d ago

Probably the my favorite game I've ever attended, even more than the DG and Caleb wins. The atmosphere after the pick six was off the charts.

8

u/NotActuallyMeta Texas Longhorns • Rice Owls 6d ago

Watching on TV, the shift after the blocked point was palpable and then after the pick 6 it might as well been a home game for yall

12

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

There was such a momentum shift when they started getting into it on the sidelines with Satenga. OU crowd and players got hype af after that

6

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

Congrats for being able to attend. I about passed out in my living room during the pick six I was yelling so loud

4

u/Large_Fudge6833 Oklahoma • Red River Shootout 6d ago

I scared the holy shit out of both my dogs I was screaming so loud.

10

u/SlayerSlayingSlayer Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

Lmao no that’s the 2 worst years, the last 2 were 57-9

11

u/Nightcinder Ohio State Buckeyes 6d ago

the answer is Texas is never back

2

u/lkn240 Illinois Fighting Illini • Sickos 6d ago

Well they were back once like 20 years ago.

6

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

Sooner Magic brother. It was cosmic justice for how much preemptive shit the Shorthorns have been talking

2

u/BreezyMcWeasel Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

This game is often wild. Not always, but it does frequently happen, both ways.

I did NOT think this would be one of those years.

I don't know what to do with my hands

0

u/jimmycorn24 Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

We played without a gd QB in both those game.. we’ve been telling you.

-1

u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico 6d ago

I mean Texas was #1 due to their good résumé, not because they were the true best team in the country. That being said, I'd have them somewhere in the 10-15 range, which is still WAYYYY better than Oklahoma could have expected to defeat this year lol

34

u/DistrictPleasant Alabama Crimson Tide 6d ago

It just means more

20

u/UCLA_FB_SUCKS UCLA Bruins • USC Trojans 6d ago

the difference is that both sec teams move up

16

Texas will be ranked 0.

1

u/pgtl_10 6d ago

Which teams?

7

4

u/pgtl_10 6d ago

Problem is Oregon lost to Oklahoma State

3

u/Kh3hhdds343 6d ago

Canibilizing itself is a self aggrendizing ESPN compliment. This isn't eight super teams beating each other.

2

u/Dialectic_Emptiness Pittsburgh Panthers 6d ago

Lol nice. Using a proletariat meme in the CFB sphere is so fucking choice.

2

u/fuchsia_fascia 6d ago

Obnoxious media will definitely label arkansas as a "gritty win against a tough conference opponent" after keeping it close with tennessee

2

u/GivethTaketh4 Clemson Tigers • Auburn Tigers 6d ago

Is it even cannibalizing when Texas still most likely makes the playoffs lol

1

u/philphan25 Notre Dame • Penn State 6d ago

1

in a 4 team playoff that wouldn't let in 2 loss teams
