This is why I love CFB. OU is very unlikely to make any noise for the playoffs, but at the end of the day, they won the Red River.
Why is that game always chaos? I love it, but will never understand it.
Also wtf is Texas this year? Are they the worst elite team or the best mediocre team? It should have never been in reach for OU, but Texas kept making mistakes to keep the Sooners in the game.
There’s nothing, NOTHING, like 100,000 pissed off, drunk ass fans split down the 50 with nothing but hate in between them. Go if you can. It’s the greatest rivalry in sports and we all just saw why.
There’s nothing like it. I regret not going this year. I went in 2017 and 2021 and I’ll be DAMNED if I’m not in that stadium next year. It’s fucking awesome. They boo children at halftime
i think thats bc its neutral in that its perfectly balanced, two extremely passionate fanbases making as much noise as they can. any big play for either team will receive a comparable crowd response. sometimes neutral site games mean neutralize all fans, this is more of maximizing two counter points so that adding equal amounts positive and negative equals 0
I think the whole thing is the neutrality like you say, the 50/50 perfect split, the State Fair atmosphere, and also the fact that for whatever reason, we just keep getting classics. It seems to bring the wildest fans out of each fanbase, and the game is so much better for it.
I’ve never been in a louder environment and the videos I’ve seen would say this year rivaled what I saw in 2021. And it’s half a stadium. There’s something about that place during a classic
Why is that game always chaos? I love it, but will never understand it.
It's the 50/50. You won't understand it until you've gone to one. There's just something surreal about the crowd going wild for the right plays, but also seeing the crowd going wild for the wrong plays.
Born and raised in Frankfort, KY so grew up a Wildcat fan. Moved to Oklahoma after my Mom remarried after my Dad passed and became a Sooner. I live in North Carolina now after doing a stint in the Navy but I'm likely moving back to Oklahoma in a year or so to finish my bachelors degree at OU.
