All credit in the world to Will Stein, but holy fuck when he threw up the 2 he was shaking like a mfer.

There isn't a Blue-Blooded Kentucky fan on this planet that wasn't screaming "go for two", I promise you that.

We had to. We couldn’t stop them.

While I do agree it's super ballsy. When you think about it, why even kick it in that situation? For a chance to lose anyway? I think in 100 situations like that he'll go for two 101 times.

From a purely theoretical perspective, since they make the later iterations do 2-pointers anyway, getting a PAT there just delays the inevitable. Plus the order of possessions changes and I think those things combined, I agree, just go for two right away while you have momentum.

And more importantly, your defense has been losing receivers all night, so betting that you can get the tie again in the next OT is rough.

Right. We were getting thin in both OTs, and going for the win just looks flat better than trying to win a war of attrition

The more debateable one was when he went for it earlier in the game and everyone thought he should kick it. It seemed like a Will Stein thing to do and honestly with our kicker I genuinely don't ever want to leave it to him again.

At one point the winds in Lexington were like 30-40 mph and I had the same thought, don't rely on a FG in this game. Glad it worked out. That first kick it seemed the wind died on him, he definitely over corrected on the second. I can appreciate how that is a challenging environment, but that made it even more surprising to me that Stein banked on a FG. He doesn't usually do that.

Plus you start using all your best 2 point plays. Most teams have 1 ot 2 auto scores that they can use once a year.

Same thing if you score and are down 1 with 15s left in the game. Always go for the win never play for OT. My only exception to this was earlier in the day I said when Texas got the ball before the pick to set up OUs game winner. Just kneel it out and go to OT Oklahoma can’t get 25 yards and you can

Definitely depends on how the game as gone, but yeah 95% of the time going for it feels like the right thing to do.

I think you mean “go for Dos”

Dos Equis is gonna get Will Stein as a spokesperson at this rate

Can confirm. Was in the stadium and the moment we scored everyone in my section had 2s in the air.

We’ve lived decades climbing out of the cellar. We have nothing to lose. Push em all the middle of the table.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but the mastery of it

This shaking and the nerves make this even more badass IMO. He felt every bit of that moment and still had the balls to do what he knew he had to do.
