News [Matt Hayes] The SEC willingly flushed its conference championship game that last year had better ratings than all eight first round CFP games of the brief, 12-team era.

Everything in the world is intentionally more shitty than it used to be.

What the hell is going on?

The driving factor for nearly every large scale business now is continual growth. Businesses can’t just make money and be content, they have to make more money than the previous year. Honestly, it’s natural to always want more (money, space, stuff) - it’s why so many can’t help buying that new boat or car even if it financial knee caps them - but this scale of wanting more is absurd.

The billionaire class will never be satisfied until every ounce of value has been squeezed from every product. They won’t rest until there is literally no monetary value left. And then they’ll continue fucking over your next favorite thing.

Companies will literally gamble with extinction if it means an extra zero on their earnings.

Consumers have a choice in the matter (boycott = devalue)

Governments short-circuit this dynamic. If you're politically connected, it's possible to make tons of money without actually serving the public.

I think it’s moreso that humans are addicted to entertainment and in America, football is the top entertainer so they can adapt the product however and addicts won’t stop watching the content/adverti$ements

Same shit in every sport, college or pro, the last few years. Got to just keep expanding the season or playoffs or teams or playing overseas to make as much as possible.

Basically just a reflection of how the whole country seems to be. Everything has to keep growing to be bigger and also make more money, who cares about anything else or the effects it has.

I still blame them, the B1G is responsible for this.

This is all on ESPN and by extension the SEC. Texas and Oklahoma leaving the Big 12 for SEC and the ESPN deal caused the Pac 12 collapse and conference realignment. ESPN made a lot of money off expanding to a 12 team playoff and are currently the ones pushing for a 24 team playoff.

OUT had been trying to escape the Big XII for years before landing in the SEC.

They flirted with the Pac-12, the B1G, and the SEC. Even if we hadn't taken them, they were inevitable going to leave the Big XII at some point.

The Pac-12 died, because the B1G made a grand showing of "The Alliance" with the other conferences...while secretly negotiating with USC and UCLA to leave the Pac-12. And then took Oregon and Washington for good measure.

Even if there was some secret B1G plan to steal UCLA and USC, that doesn't change the fact that OUT was the catalyst for the PAC 12 collapse and most other PAC 12 teams jumping ship and joining other conferences. You're also conveniently ignoring the fact that ESPN and the SEC are the ones who've benefited the most from expanding playoffs. Also Greg Sankey and Greg Byrne are pushing new playoff ranking rules that benefit the P4 teams, especially the SEC, and ESPN are the ones pushing hardest for a 24 team playoff.

Its some hilarious gymnastics to blame two B12 teams for collapsing the P12 and not, you know, the actual 4 teams the B10 took.

I'm not blaming them, I'm saying they were what triggered the (mostly inevitable) major conference realignment that happened a few years ago. It's also hilarious how y'all are ignoring the fact that the SEC and ESPN are the ones benefiting the most from and pushing the hardest for new playoff ranking rules and playoff expansions.

This is not a fact. B1G fans act like the SEC held a gun to their head, and forced them to rape the PAC-12.

FYI: The B1G has more teams the SEC now. You don't see anyone in the SEC discussing being forced to take more teams to match the B1G.

Also, its the B1G that has been advocating for expanded playoffs, while the SEC pushed back. Why? Because Fox would have been allowed to bid on a 24 team playoffs, but apparently the terms the SEC agreed to retained ESPN exclusive rights. It's still the B1G that pushed this.

SEC and ESPN are the ones benefiting the most from and pushing the hardest for new playoff ranking rules and playoff expansions.

Because if you'd read anything leading up to this you would know that is 100% not factual. The B10 has been the one pushing for 24 teams from the start. Why the SEC caved I have no idea.
