News [Matt Hayes] The SEC willingly flushed its conference championship game that last year had better ratings than all eight first round CFP games of the brief, 12-team era.

How does this benefit the SEC the least? They lose the highest rated conf champ game but they will undoubtedly get the majority of the new playoff spots.

It benefits ND, the big ten, the big 12, and the acc more in that order

You're 100% right. A lot of years, there aren't many SEC teams getting in this that weren't mostly getting into the 12-team format. Maybe one or two?

A lot of Big 12 fans seem not to understand that the minimum the league probably gets in these playoffs is 2, and most likely 3. We could get in 4 some seasons if things align. You used to have to justify a 1-loss Big 12 getting in against a 3-loss SEC. That won't happen now. Now it'll be the 3+ loss SEC teams trying to justify a slot and the 2-loss Big 12. It'll still be annoying to watch Feinbaum-bots argue some 4+ loss SEC school should be in, but I think it'll mostly be unsuccessful.

This goes for ACC as well. Most of that league is perceived about the same as Big 12.

Big 10 is definitely getting a ton more teams in than they did.
