KJ Duff is a Lamborghini parked at a trailer house that's currently on fire

I disagree - the trailer burned down years ago and now we keep accidentally tearing holes in the tent we sleep in.

Kinda like the Rutgers basketball team when they had Harper and Bailey and still sucked

That team was built so stupid. Dylan Harper, Ace Bailey and bums. We didn’t have a true center on that team and lost the rebound battle in pretty much every single game.

Relied too much on their talent. Didn't even bother with other holes on the team.

Honestly getting Ace was probably the worst thing that we did that year. If we had Harper and kept Clifford Omoruyi, the team would have been so much better than with Harper and Bailey.

They wanted to sell tickets and say they had 2 top 5 players in the country. I was hyped to go see them. Just so disappointed in it.

Rutgers should know that it has a large enough fan base that if the team is good, butts will be in seats.

If the team is ass, no one will care.

They couldn't pay Cliff if they wanted to. There are werid rules about international students and NIL that made it so they couldnt even get close to a fair market deal for him if I remember correctly.

u/SadAdeptness6287 Rutgers Scarlet Knights 2h ago

Oh shit, didn’t realize that. That sucks

I can't remember the specifics, but I remember a ton of people asking about the situation because it's weird that he wouldn't want to play with lottery picks. The money they spent on other players was more than enough for what he got at Alabama.

Ace came first. Harper might not go to RU without ace

I went to every home game, the issue was not on Rutgers end. That year was the first year the new “NIL” + “Covid Years” allowed for 23-25 year olds to play for pay. Rutgers was playing against teams full of 23-25 year olds with multiple teams having former overseas processionals. You can’t expect even the best 18-19 year olds in country to compete against grow ass men with hardened 4-5 years of D1 college or euro-pro experience.

What’s the story? How was this kid not offered millions this offseason to transfer somewhere?

16

u/Expensive-Step-6551 Rutgers Scarlet Knights 3h ago

He was, he was rumored to have been getting offered somewhere between $1.5 - 2 million range among some rumored big schools, but the Rutgers NIL fund spent a ton to keep him.

Somewhat similar to how they had Harper and Bailey, but not enough money to fix depth across the rest of the team for basketball, and (particularly the defense for this current football team).

To be fair, I don't even think it was the wrong choice to spend to keep him. They would literally have no offense without him.

Also probably helps with future recruiting if is a top 2 wr draft pick

u/imuglybutyourefat Ohio State Buckeyes 3h ago

Rutgers NIL is ~$20M, he’s probably getting paid decently well and knows he can keep his WR1 spot instead of competing at a bigger school.

He’s getting his spotlight in the big 10, so I’d call that a win.

That’s the sort of catch that gets you bumped up a dozen spots in the NFL draft

All saying you feel bad he’s on Rutgers/etc let’s lay out why you’re wrong. To stay he received 2 million and 75%+ passing targets. Rutgers is constantly down big and therefore will never just “run out the clock” on teams. Therefore, he has a real chance at both being an all American and the belitnikoff trophy. Going to a big program you are another cog in their wheel, you are not special, they have 5 stars come and go every year. Kyle Monangai took a similar path, and while he was drafted in the late rounds (idiots scouts missed him in the middle rounds), it shows that it’s better to have more of a work load on a bad team. Proves that you don’t need to have better talent around you to perform.

I hope Kyle's NFL career doesn't go the way Isiah Pacheco's has. 7th round rookie contract, run into the dirt, now injuries racked up and working for chump change contracts. I really hope he was able to get some sponsorships during his super bowl stints with kansas city and invested them well...

Well Kyle isn’t going to be a 7th round pick that’s a good start

Extend the end zone paint to the boundaries you cowards

KJ Duff should be the first All-American on an 1-11 team

This guy is a top 5 WR in CFB and it’s a tragedy he’s on Rutgers

12

u/Famous_Challenge_692 3h ago

This guy being on Rutgers is legitimately hilarious.

I can’t decide if it’s a dumb decision or the ultimate flex

DAMM

That was a better throw than anything. There was absolutely no way for any defender to ever make a play on that ball.

Kj duff is an animal man

3

u/Mikey456 Maryland Terrapins 3h ago

3

u/ShortRip120 3h ago

And his catch against Penn State was catch of the year last year

Ref standing right there and doesn’t see the foot in bounds. What are you looking at?

Most casual insane catch I've seen in a while

Where is the replay? Can’t even see it. Why leave out the replay?

Holy heck

This angle really does not do it justice how he caught the ball on his fingertips, held off the DB with the off hand, full extension got the toe tap, and survived the ground without the slightest bobble.

So like does he go pro or does he stay another year and play for OSU or Indiana

5

u/Nomadicitnerd Notre Dame Fighting Irish 3h ago

I don’t know what one would have to do at Ohio state or Indiana to improve upon being this dominant on such an awful Rutgers team.

He’s played against good defenses, on a horrendous team, and looks fantastic

-1

u/flyingcrayons USC Trojans • Rutgers Scarlet Knights 3h ago

Considering he entered the transfer portal last offseason and chose to come back, no he’s not gonna go to another school. He came back for one last season before going pro

-16

u/CoolDad859 3h ago

Calling catch of the season from the first quarter in the 5th game of the season for two teams that wont be bowl eligible is quite the choice.

Since when does the quality of the game have anything to do with the quality of a catch?
