I will never understand what the leadership of MSU's athletic program has been doing for the last 10 years.

Idiotic decision after idiotic decision. Tucker, smith, fitz - all mediocre (at best) head coaches from mediocre (at best) programs. As if our leadership thought it would be easier for them to win here? No $ commitment to recruiting top players. What do you expect? It's like they're aiming for the middle. And then miss.

The new AD emailed the entire fanbase a few weeks ago, basically apologizing for the miserable state of the football program.

I want to say I hope things soon change. But "hope" would imply I'm at least a little optimistic that it might happen. I'm not. Gonna go add a backup flair so I can post something positive in r/cfb once in a while.

This undersells Smith at Oregon State. They were in the gutter when he got there and it was a legitimately impressive squad by the time he left. They were still a P5 team at the time too.

He just wasn’t the right fit at MSU. I get the hire for the reason you stated.

All a matter of perspective I guess. I thought Smith and Michigan State were a great fit. Was very enjoyable to watch.
