felt like a middle finger to college fans how the announcer kept saying how this puts texas in jeopardy of missing the playoffs

I mean…. Doesn’t it?

it absolutely does, but the point is that will no longer be the case next year

It absolutely could. Texas has finished many seasons unranked since 2000. Far more than you’d expect for the wealthiest athletic program in the country.

Yes just because there’s no way they win all of the next 4 games

He wasn’t wrong. Last year had multiple 2 loss teams in, so if we win out we could realistically still get in. But we all know it’s not happening.

I think he’s referring to the 24 team playoff next year

Seriously. 2 losses in a 12 game schedule should disqualify you. There shouldn’t be a “discussion”

Buddy, there won't be 12 teams with 1 loss or less...

Are we going to invent new teams out of thin air to find 12 teams with 1 loss or less?

And that's ignoring conference championships.

Coastal Chaos means that an 8-4 ACC team could make the playoffs just due to some weird tiebreaker and the top teams in the conference cannibalizing each other/Clemsoning (and an upset in the ACCCG).
