Over 1200 yards between the two teams. Defense took the day off.

I’m not sure WVU doesn’t just keep the offense on the field when they don’t have the ball
2
u/HBPhilly1 1h ago
Could you imagine a team only doing that. That would wild

u/conchobor West Virginia • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 1h ago
If injuries and needing a breather weren’t things, I would genuinely be open to trying it at this point.

Good lord, might as well have put turnstiles out there instead of secondaries

I don’t think I can add any more Scott Satterfield complaints that I haven’t already gone over in the last four years.
Thank you John Cunningham for bringing this plague into this program, even though everyone but you could see this coming.
10
u/oldschool_shawn Cincinnati Bearcats 1h ago
I can't wait until he's gone. Bowl game or not, there is no way he should be back next season.
9
u/TheBoilerCat Cincinnati Bearcats • Purdue Boilermakers 1h ago
I’ve been optimistic for maybe 4 games out of his entire tenure. There’s no point even caring about the rest of this season because it’s all so predictable. I wish I could have a better attitude about it for the players representing the university, but it just isn’t there.
4
u/SquadPoopy Florida Gators 1h ago
I’m a Gator fan but grew up in Cincinnati so I follow the Bearcats recreationally, and I have no fucking clue why Satterfield was hired. It felt like deliberate sabotage.

u/joeveralls Cincinnati Bearcats • Ohio Bobcats 1h ago
Can we please leave Satt in morgantown?

u/TheBoilerCat Cincinnati Bearcats • Purdue Boilermakers 1h ago
Easier to name the Big 12 college towns he hasn’t deserved to be left stranded in.

I prefer we fire him into the sun.

If we do, would we still have to pay his buy out?

Send it with him in gold bars for all I care

Its so ridiculous. Wyler or one of the linders cant pony up a couple million to can this guy and save the program? They invest 100x as much on athletic buildings
1
u/JohnPaulDavyJones Texas A&M Aggies • Baylor Bears 1h ago
Only if y’all promise that you leave your OL coach with him.
Honestly, just promote that guy, actually. He’s had phenomenal OLs every single year at Cincy for a while now. Satt’s ability to waste the opportunity is elite.

u/MediumStrange Cincinnati • Michigan 1h ago
It's closer to his home of north Carolina anyways.
I swear it we hire a coach from North Carolina in basketball or football again I'm going to crash out.

Not a WVU primary fan but I pull for them (don't look at my other flair), I feel like being mediocre under rich rod v2 is 1000x better than being mediocre under Neal fucking Brown. at least the games are fun as hell to watch
3
u/EnvironmentRare2655 West Virginia Mountaineers 43m ago
While that’s true, I don’t think the WVU administration was aiming for “probably better than Neal Brown” with this hire.

West Virginia might legitimately be the best offense and worst defense combo I have ever seen.

2012 was a work of beauty. 70-63 puts that team in a different stratosphere

Firing him isn't going to make this FCS level defense all of a sudden become the 85 Bears

Scott Satterfield is a football terrorist. Now excuse me while I go watch the Loons lose by four goals.

Hey new Big 12 is defense focused weirdly. Rich Rod bringing back all offense to WVU
10
u/Set-Admirable West Virginia • Backyard Brawl 1h ago
That was an awful game.
I will give them credit, though, they got a stop when it mattered. And the offense came to win.
8
u/TheSpacePopeIX West Virginia • Backyard Brawl 1h ago
That Run Punt Option on Cinci’s last possession was actually sick. They had us at 3rd and 9 on our own one yard line. Kind of wild that we won actually.
1
u/Set-Admirable West Virginia • Backyard Brawl 1h ago
Hawkins was great passing all day, and we had, what, three or four receivers make gigantic plays. I love our offense. Just wish the defense had a pulse for more than 6 plays a game.
10
u/madmaley Cincinnati Bearcats • /r/CFB Dead Pool 1h ago
Fire Satt. Baseball is rolling, basketball is looking promising with Calhoun. We just need to fire Satt and get a good up and coming coach in. Satt's buyout is not large. Can his ass and get someone that can motivate donors and coach
2
u/TimeLordDoctor105 Cincinnati • Ohio State 1h ago
Guess I'm becoming a baseball fan at this rate. Because football is not it as long as Satt is the coach.
2
u/madmaley Cincinnati Bearcats • /r/CFB Dead Pool 20m ago
Baseball looks really good this season. Looking even better than the last 2 seasons. Should be another post season and hopefully even deeper run than the last 2 years.
9
u/ProposalSilent4582 1h ago
Best the West Virginia defense has played all season. They got a couple stops, which is 2 more than every other game combined.
West Virginia would be undefeated if they could get 2 more stops in every game they lost. Defense is atrocious as always and offense has to pick up the slack and play near perfect
7
u/meesahdayoh West Virginia • Hateful 8 1h ago
I'll take the win, but can we please dump Zac Alley after this game.
Winning games while allowing 40+ points is unsustainable.

u/fansofomar West Virginia • Duquesne 1h ago
I think a final score of 70-63 is a possibility this season. Could you imagine giving up 63 points in a game?
2
u/GeospatialMAD West Virginia Mountaineers • Hateful 8 49m ago
That's absurd. What kind of defense gives up 63 points in a game?
;)
8
u/Gocrazyfut West Virginia • Marshall 1h ago
If the opposing team’s crowd celebrates your punt team coming out like a touchdown, you’ve probably made the wrong decision. (Albeit it was the greatest punt of all time)
Michael Hawkins is Leading us to the playoff next year. We are not worthy

Based on how Satt’s tenure has gone, I’m going to go ahead and say Cincy is not making a bowl game this year. They’ll probably beat Colorado and that’s it.
1
u/JohnPaulDavyJones Texas A&M Aggies • Baylor Bears 1h ago
I’m not even sure they beat Colorado.
The only thing Cincy does well is run the ball. The only bright spot for Colorado is that they have a terrific defensive line; it’s currently #4 in the B12 and has been top-20 in the FBS all season in havoc rate. They were eating Texas Tech’s offensive line for breakfast a few weeks ago.
Cincy might not run for nearly as much as they’re accustomed to being able to do, and lord knows their defense will make Colorado’s offense look competent.

Yeah CU's dline has me worried for that game. Especially with a team that'll be spiraling down

u/Tripletuxies Cincinnati • Ohio State 1h ago
Honestly whats the point of even firing Satterfield. We have everything invested into hoops. Satterfield is ass but who cares at this point
2
u/JohnPaulDavyJones Texas A&M Aggies • Baylor Bears 1h ago
Which is especially concerning, since Cincy was tied for 8th in the Big XII preseason media poll in basketball.
Granted, poll could be wrong and maybe Cincy outperforms wildly.
1
u/madmaley Cincinnati Bearcats • /r/CFB Dead Pool 18m ago
Well it's also a brand new team so no one knows where to put them. But we have a tournament roster and a real coach now. They should be a tournament team this year. Especially with a roster that's probably 13 mil or more. I don't think it's concerning like you say. The team should be damn good. But the university needs to up nil funding to football. They're letting it die. The boosters are all throwing money at basketball

u/TyMsy227 Cincinnati Bearcats 1h ago
5-6 and end up getting blown out 83-7 in Provo last game of the season to finally finish satt off
3
u/DavidGoetta Cincinnati Bearcats 1h ago
We are off schedule for 8-4 with no course to get back on.
Best case scenario now is 5-7 with a hilarious win over TT and firing Satt at the end.

What in the Satterfield choke is this?
6
u/DavidGoetta Cincinnati Bearcats 1h ago
Best punt in history when he should've gone for it, give up a 40 yard pass out of their endzone.
3
u/Spirited-Lock-9616 1h ago
Cincy giving up 24 in the fourth after leading at half is so painfully Big 12. At some point somebody has to make a stop, anyone, please.
3
u/don_keydick_42069 Cincinnati Bearcats 1h ago
At some point in the 4th quarter WVU was avg 8.9 yards per play. Im sure it only went up by games end
