No way. Georgia lost at home to Auburn, that sucks!

3

u/InteractionNext6807 2d ago

They’ll get more slack since it’s a rivalry game

8

u/l34ch_r Boise State Broncos 2d ago

Yeah rankings don't meant shit. Just a popularity contest

6

u/DrVonD 2d ago

Basically all the teams who d it are also flawed in some way. TTU should probably be ahead, but it’ll work itself out

18

u/CasinoMarginale 1d ago

Miami barely survived a 2OT home game against a 3-3 team. I know it’s a rivalry game, but the U is overrated

5

u/Ice_crusher_bucket 1d ago

Their fanbsse is having a parade for squeaking out a win vs a team that was boat raced by Louisville last week lol

Toughest team they've played rhis year and needed refs to bail them out lol

2

u/Separate_Bar_4954 Miami (FL) Hurricanes 1d ago

Yeah our defense is injured to all hell right now especially in the secondary

They gonna get exposed in the playoffs

2

u/Smoking_Q 1d ago

While I agree, I don’t really think there are any flawless teams this year.

1

u/AdHealthy5050 Tennessee Volunteers 1d ago

Me either

0

u/Important_Capital875 NC State Wolfpack 1d ago

I feel like they should’ve dropped a couple spots. I don’t care if they won. For years in the past and this year, I’ve noticed if a team barely beats a bad team, especially team they’re supposed to dominate, they drop.

9

u/HeftyLeftyPig Utah Utes 2d ago

Utah is not a top 10 team

4

u/GiantsRTheBest2 Miami (FL) Hurricanes 2d ago

What we are learning this season is that for whatever reason with NIL, the teams that should be walk ins to the Natty are being exposed as frauds. The teams of years prior that are clear number 1s and can beat any team, just don’t exist.

6

u/HeftyLeftyPig Utah Utes 2d ago

I think NIL has created more parity among teams.

2

u/MrGoodKatt72 1d ago

This is exactly the case. The SP+ ratings gap between the top teams and lower ranked teams has shrunk by about 50%.

36

u/RealityisBack2023 2d ago

Only dropping 3 spots when you lose at home to an unranked team? Interesting

12

u/VendettaX88 2d ago

Quality SEC Loss™️©️®️

27

u/DFVSUPERFAN 2d ago

did you consider it was a quality SEC loss? Surprised they didn't keep them #1.

6

u/DrVonD 2d ago

Everyone behind them lost also

8

u/Reading_Rainboner 2d ago

Not Texas Tech.

1

u/Billgant BYU Cougars 2d ago

Yup

4

u/GrimaceThundercock Texas Longhorns 2d ago

I think it helps when everyone else also loses.

0

u/snacksandsoda Georgia Bulldogs 2d ago

Everybody else gets grace for rivalry losses, why not us?!

11

u/SportGamerDev0623 1d ago

Notre Dame has beaten absolutely no one and still is above undefeated teams… lol….

1

u/RockyTopRowdies Tennessee Volunteers 1d ago

INB4 Notre Dame fans, "But MuH aLl P4 sChEDuLe"

1

u/Secure_Way_4854 1d ago

Well Notre Dame handled Purdue and Wisconsin much easier than UCLA did.

2

u/GeorgeWashingtonCuh 1d ago edited 1d ago

UCLA was down their starting QB against Wisconsin.

UCLA always played those teams because they're in the B1G, so they were conference games. ND chose to schedule them.

OSU dropped 6 when losing by 1 on the road to #4 Texas. UGA drops 3 losing at home to unranked Auburn. Make it make sense

25

u/DrVonD 2d ago

Because everyone behind UGA lost also. If ND, Texas, bama all win they would have dropped more

8

u/MyCockSmellsBad 2d ago

I mean, do you really think Georgia isn't a top 10 team?

3

u/jzeffer 2d ago

Top 10, yes. But losing to an unranked team at home and you drop 3 spots?

8

u/DrVonD 2d ago

Nothing is in isolation. The top 10 was decimated yesterday

3

u/Rude-Wash9840 Georgia Bulldogs 1d ago

Only reason they dropped so little is because everyone else lost. Had that been the one upset they’d be 9+ probably.

Rivalry week to a team coming off a buy after playing in a rock fight vs Alabama the week prior. Yall act like there isn’t nuance to these numbers. Yes, Georgia gets the benefit of the doubt which i understand is probably super frustrating if you’re not a Georgia fan but Georgia has earned that. Same thing with Texas, didn’t drop a ton after the first loss but after the second they dropped significantly. The same thing will happen to Georgia if they lose to Florida.

2

u/cfbfootballnerd Ole Miss Rebels 1d ago

I need Georgia to boat race Florida but get absolutely beat to shit in the process

1

u/Rude-Wash9840 Georgia Bulldogs 1d ago

I’m actually scared to play yall. Our defense against scrambling quarterbacks is always bad. Had keelon Russell took advantage of his legs more, the outcome of that game is different. Every time he took off running it was a chunk

0

u/lesher925 Notre Dame 1d ago

Yeah, but Auburn is in the SEC, so it just matters more... /s

1

u/Overall_Independent4 1d ago

0

There is a difference between power rating and ranking

4

u/Subject_Whereas9954 Kennesaw State Owls 1d ago

Why is Georgia ahead of Tennessee?

1

u/budd222 1d ago

Nobody knows

9

u/snacksandsoda Georgia Bulldogs 2d ago

Well, it’s not week 1 right now. So there’s a very clear difference

2

u/budd222 2d ago

Yeah, we know Auburn is terrible now. We thought Texas was great back when OSU lost. So, how does that make any sense?

6

u/snacksandsoda Georgia Bulldogs 2d ago

More games, more data, more h2h what else do you need?

1

u/budd222 2d ago

You're trying to say that Auburn is better now than we thought Texas was in week 2 when they were #4

4

u/BillyBobChorton 2d ago

No they’re trying to say Georgia is about where they belong and so is Ohio state based on all the data we have.

3

u/BillyBobChorton 2d ago

Early season wins and loses have much bigger movement in the polls

2

u/pbbrowniesmmm 2d ago

It’s pretty easy to make sense. That was Ohio states first game. Georgia has played several games, including beating a decent Alabama team. Other teams have also lost…

2

u/-ChiefZ06- 1d ago

Wait the decent Bama team that lost to Tenn, that lost at home to UT by a wider margin than OSU did? I know the transitive property doesnt work in CFB but youre playing mental gymnastics with your SEC bias

1

u/budd222 1d ago

It was OSU's second game

2

u/343GuiltyySpark 1d ago

1

u/OneContribution7620 Georgia Bulldogs 1d ago

As a Georgia fan, I agree.

0

u/DFVSUPERFAN 2d ago

Hey Bama dropped 0 spots for losing by 3 at home to UGA. IT JUST MEANS MORE. We all hate ND but they dropped WAY more for losing by 4 on the road to a top 10 team than UGA did for losing at home to Auburn, it's all so tiresome.

1

u/DesignerFlat7108 2d ago

Last week Bama stayed at 7 in this poll after losing to UGA.

2

u/budd222 2d ago

Yeah, quality losses mean more

1

u/lesher925 Notre Dame 1d ago

ND drops 6 for losing to undefeated #3

IU drops 2 for losing to 1 loss #2

None of it makes sense.

0

u/NxSxFxWx 1d ago

This shit is honestly so rigged at this point. Still being a top 5 team after such an embarrassing home loss is criminal.

9

u/DesignerFlat7108 2d ago edited 1d ago

BS poll. Tennessee beats Bama and doesn't pick up a single spot in this poll. 6 teams ahead of them lost this week and they stay at 11.

6

u/Steelerspenguin 2d ago

The favoritism is ridiculous in cfb. Tennessee should be at least 8 here

2

u/not_here_nor_ther Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 1d ago

bama fan here and I agree. shocked to not see Tennessee in the top 10. maybe they're thinking Georgia's loss to Auburn makes bama look even weaker?

5

2

OSU lost to a bad Texas team

2

u/InteractionNext6807 2d ago

Indiana > ND

0

u/JRamGOAT 2d ago

BYU plays a weaker schedule

2

u/Billgant BYU Cougars 1d ago

Weaker schedule? We just beat #2, and our conference has more teams in the top 10 than the SEC

-1

u/JRamGOAT 1d ago

BYUs SOS is literally ranked lower across every metric you can find.

Its a literal fact. Both humans and computers agree. BYU plays literally nobody.

0

u/Billgant BYU Cougars 1d ago

That’s what all the experts said last week and also said how we’re gonna get destroyed by Notre Dame.

We love it. Keep saying that. Keeps our boys angry and hungry.

1

u/JRamGOAT 1d ago

That has literally nothing to do with anything lmfaooo

1

u/Graciefighter34 1d ago

byu is undefeated, just beat the second ranked team in the country. Osu has one loss to a bad Texas team that’s lost two straight.

2

u/krisitolindsay 2d ago

No Arizona is crazy

2

u/Dmob17 1d ago

Putting OSU ahead of BYU is beyond insulting. I can’t be the only one who thought that OSU not only looked terrible, but should’ve lost that game….

2

u/Automatic-Extreme-11 1d ago

Yeah Ohio State struggled especially the Oline. But the refs kept Indiana in it the entire game. They held one of the best teams in the county to 15 points and 7 of them were from an interception that could have been called a PI defender got to Smith early but he really should have caught that. That gave Indiana the ball in the 7 yard line so hard not to come up with points after that. Several controversial calls/no calls that went against Ohio state and maybe 1 no PI call against Indiana. Yeah they kind of got lucky the WR stepped out of bounds on the last play but half the Dline also got held on that play too.

1

u/StopDehumanizing 1d ago

Snubbed in the playoffs for a 3 loss Alabama team.

The disrespect will never end.

0

u/ImYouJoeGoldberg Miami (FL) Hurricanes 1d ago

And if you put Ohio State and BYU on the same field Ohio State blows them out, that’s why they’re ahead of BYU. Ohio State also has the best player in the country.

1

u/Dmob17 1d ago

With what QB????? This is such a biased take…. You were saying Miami would whoop FSU last weekend also I’m sure.

2

u/SM1OOO 23h ago

Im not necessarily agreeing osu should be ahead of byu, but i disagree with knocking points because of an injured qb, they did it in 2014 with a back up. Fsu should have been in over bama in 2023.

1

u/ImYouJoeGoldberg Miami (FL) Hurricanes 1d ago edited 1d ago

LOL! How in the hell am I biased towards Ohio State? Unbelievable. Anyone can throw it up to Jeremiah Smith, they are better than BYU.

Miami vs FSU is a rivalry game, and yea FSU sucks and it didn’t go the way I expected, but FSU has more talent than BYU regardless of whether or not their dumb coach is capable of putting it together. Obviously we played like crap especially on defense but we have #1 overall talent and considering that we are one of the few undefeated teams left have all that NIL money and 5x, 5X, 5 Time National championship pedigree, we deserve our #1 ranking. We’re gonna lay the smackdown on Notre Dame in a few weeks.

3

u/ImYouJoeGoldberg Miami (FL) Hurricanes 2d ago

Where are the Notre Dame fans today, in hiding?

1

u/throwaway9488tx TCU Horned Frogs 2d ago

I'm wondering where all the BYU fans that told me I was delusional for picking them last week to beat ND. Granted the end was wacky, they still thought their own team would get blown out.

I’m here. It’s sucks. The Irish ☘️ will be fine.

BYU looked really good though with Bear.

Definitely doubts left about our ability in the red zone. But that shouldn’t be a problem playing a team like Miami.

0

u/ImYouJoeGoldberg Miami (FL) Hurricanes 1d ago

This was just the first of what will be several losses for ND this year. Only question is whether a 9-3 or 8-4 non playoff ND team will quit on the season again and skip a bowl game again. Do you happen to know what the plan is this year?

0

u/FreeSpeechIsDeadge Notre Dame 1d ago

Talking shit after the refs stole a win for you is bold. But not surprising for the convicts.

0

u/ImYouJoeGoldberg Miami (FL) Hurricanes 1d ago

The refs stole a win for us? 😂😭😂 because of the interception we clearly caught? People are so dramatic trying to make everything a controversy these days. We won by 8, fsu wasn’t going to win that.

1

u/DragonaxeMage4 1d ago

BYU #3? Knew they would put Oh State #2. TT 5. Don't matter but come on.

1

u/Several-Read7746 1d ago

They put Ohio state 2nd? They know the bucks are losing more games. That backup qb isn’t beating any team

1

u/wlscwoj 21h ago

It's a coaches poll
Is Texas Tech # 5 team in the country?
Is Notre Dame #8?
Is Utah #9?
Is UCLA #10?
who have any of these teams beat? BYU beat Notre Dame, but notre dame isn't as good as they say they are...
If ohio state had a better QB they blow Indiana out of the water, if Indiana had a better QB they easily beat Ohio State... both QB's were BAD, 50% pass completions with open receivers and just bad throws. Then Ohio States backup QB looked like he $hit himself out there - never thought he was going to play and looked scared, like he's never played before.

1

u/ImYouJoeGoldberg Miami (FL) Hurricanes 21h ago

If these teams haven’t beaten anyone then who has? Someone has to be in the top ten. 100% agree though about ND, they haven’t beaten a ranked team in two years yet claim they were a playoff team last year and definitely don’t deserve their current ranking. 3 of them also happen to be undefeated.

1

u/wlscwoj 4h ago

UCLA's only win was over Oregon, They were against 3rd sting QB, recovered 5 fumbles, had 2 INTs... and only won by 2 points
Utah hasn't played a ranked team yet, toughest game was Colorado who is 2-4 (and look at who they've played and lost to)
Notre Dame lost to BYU, but 6 wins before that were all teams that had 8+ losses last season (how strong is that lol )
Texas Tech has beat Oregon State (unranked) and Houston who is ranked 14th... but only ranked team Houston played was Texas Tech

My whole point is you look through most of those top teams and see who they've actually played so far. Most of the teams outside of the SEC play 1 or 2 ranked opponents.
BYU plays 3 - Arizona, Notre Dame, Utah
Notre Dame plays 3 - BYU, Miami, SMU... after that 8 teams that had 8+ losses last year, and Navy

A team doesn't have to be ranked to be considered a good team. They need to be capable of winning tough games against good teams.
Like every single year Iowa is ranked - Last Regular season win against a ranked team ? you have to dig to find, 2019 against Minnesota (who was 18th at end of season. How are they ranked every single year, but they never beat ranked opponents?
Same with USC - you go back and the only ranked teams they typically win against are Iowa, Michigan/UCLA when they are ranked 16th-25th, but even though its been a long time since they've been legitimately good - they are ranked every season with no good wins, just beating up on bottom of Big10.

There are 16 teams in SEC and I'd take the top 12 against any conference right now.
There are 9 SEC teams ranked in top 25, and other 3 MS State, Auburn, Oklahoma can beat any team any given Saturday.
SEC is 11-2 against Power 4 nonconference opponents
Big12 is 5-7
ACC is 6-9
Big 10 is 4-10

So almost all the SEC losses came from SEC vs SEC

1

u/rice_n_gravy LSU Tigers 2d ago

How is OSU ahead of BYU lmfao

Georgia and TTU too high. ND and Ole Miss too low. By resume ND and Ole Miss should be above Georgia and TTU both.
