Postseason Hub GDT: Date - Time - Away Team @ Home Team
Hi folks,
Feel free to use this thread for all other postseason stuff. Please save new posts to be about the Chicago Cubs, but pretty much everything else is fair game for this thread. Will default the sort by NEW like any other GDT.
Reminder to any visitors from other subs, you can comment here as part of the conversation, but any trolling gets you banned and reported to your home sub. We're already out, why the hell would you be here?

This should be a wake-up call to Jed to prioritize high velo/guys with good secondaries, but if getting eliminated the last five years haven't taught him that, I don't know what will

The Brewers remind me of the 2015 Royals. It'd be a real shame if they somehow fell down into the depths of irrelevancy after winning it all.
6
u/Nice_Rest9413 Let's play two 2d ago
If the cubs could put the same energy they do in driving the old hot dog joints and dive bars out of wrigleyville and replacing them with fancy restaurants and clubs in to making the playoffs we may have a shot next year.
8
u/Tundraaa Tell me, where is Arrieta? For I much desire to speak with him 2d ago
Said this a few days ago and I’ll say it again: Jed has to be rooting for the Brewers to go all the way so there’s a chance they’ll lose their fire next season and we can finally win the division
12
u/afrosteele 2d ago
I should have been able to enjoy the demise of the Dodgers and the Brewers deprived me of that.
7
u/CuriousCubSixteen Baaah 2d ago
Absolutely pathetic effort by the Dodgers, reminded me of the Cubs the last 2 weeks of the season

I suppose that if the Brewers had to advance, best it happened by humiliating the Dodgers.

I feel unclean...but strangely proud of them? Still gonna root for the AL winner
1
u/ShortRedBull 2d ago
It’s nice that the winner is gonna be someone who hasn’t won it all within 50 yrs or never.
4
u/SavingThrowVsWTF ZO 2d ago
Hahahahaha, Dodgers just got fucking embarrassed in the worst possible way.

u/ShortRedBull 2d ago
Did you see the 2026 Chicago Cubs in the post season?
1
u/SavingThrowVsWTF ZO 1d ago edited 1d ago
You mean the team that spent a shitload of money and still got swept by a team with a payroll not even close to their own?
Oh, wait — that was the Dodgers.
🤷🏻♂️
7
u/afrosteele 2d ago
I kind of hate that they’re in the NL Central, because they’re a legitimately fun team to watch.
6
u/Anonymous_user314 Chicago Cubs 2d ago
It's their fans, Brewer fans are assholes. "Midwest nice" doesn't apply to them, in my experience.
6
u/Jacksington Bergman 2d ago
If you legitimately like the game of baseball you have to enjoy watching them. It sucks that it comes at the expense of the Cubs, but they have earned every bit of this success.
1
u/BibFortuna2830 2d ago
Hey, cheers. 2016 was a win-win with two Midwest teams, but one of my roommates at Marquette was a die-hard Cubs fans. It was a great run for the team and I was happy for Cubs fans. Glad to see some Cubs fans pay that back.
5
u/illmatic630 2d ago
They just get it done. Clutch hitting and pitching. They are going to definitely win it all.

u/Empathy4all5 2d ago
I believe guardians and rays will be a much better, less lazy opponent than the dodgers

Dodgers hitting lazy fly balls all series except for when they need one to score from third. Again, this is like watching a cubs game.
9
u/afrosteele 2d ago
Feels like I’m watching the cubs again with the dodgers’ almost artful inability to score without the home run.

7
u/afrosteele 2d ago
There’s something darkly funny about Tucker actually doing what he was brought in to do (hit in October) only for the rest of the lineup to vanish.

I like that but I don’t like the aftermath (Joe Davis endlessly glazing Ohtani for having homered once in 8 weeks)
2
u/sdpcommander I miss Yu 2d ago
That was the most fired up I've ever seen Ohtani, dude was pumped to finally hit one. Fuck the Dodgers, but that was pretty cool.
2
u/sdpcommander I miss Yu 2d ago
It would be pretty funny if the NLCS goes 4 games and the ALCS goes 7. Whoever wins the AL is going to have the odds stacked against them, but I'll be rooting for them. Don't see the Dodgers making a comeback, they seem lifeless with Ohtani being totally useless.

u/tallslim1960 3d ago
Since the Brewers seem inevitable now, who would you rather see them face Cleveland or Tampa?
6
u/SwAeromotion This Old Cub 3d ago
While I am rooting for the Guardians, I would rather the Rays play them as I think they have a better shot and it would be a cool storyline for two teams who have never won a WS to face each other.
6
u/RemoteAbalone8687 3d ago
Crazy how there are Cardinals fans who are rooting for the Brewers just because Cubs fans are rooting against the Brewers.
7
u/SavingThrowVsWTF ZO 2d ago
Just to be clear, are you referring to the finished-in-fourth-place St. Louis Cardinals?
1
u/afrosteele 3d ago
On top of everything else, this has been a really boring series.
1
u/Westcoastchi Rally Bucket 2d ago
Truth. At least the Padres made the Brewers work for their wins, the Dodgers are flat out just rolling over and dying.
10
u/Dangerous-Stock-8112 Smylyng through it all 3d ago
Go Rays I suppose. Nothing against Cleveland, I just think Rays have the better SP and lineup to potentially take down the sewers
1
1
u/afrosteele 3d ago
Trying not to read too much into it but this series really feels like a passing of the torch moment where the Brewers are finally recognized as the true powerhouse of the baseball.
5
u/Maleficent_Author853 #FlyTheW 3d ago
They’ve been the best run organization in baseball for a while. Not getting to the promised land is really the only thing they’re missing.
I really hope the AL can put an end to their run but they look like a team of destiny right now.
1
u/MAGAtron3000 2d ago
Yeah nobody stopping the brew crew and that’s because I don’t want them to win. They are just too good
2
u/afrosteele 3d ago
Right but they’ve still been underrated, especially because of their postseason shortcomings
6
u/Maleficent_Author853 #FlyTheW 3d ago
I agree. I really dislike them. I mean, I think Uribe and Contreras are douchebags but the truth is that I’m envious of what they’ve built and I hate that the Cubs have been continuously looking up at them in the standings since 2018. It’s pretty embarrassing.

u/SavingThrowVsWTF ZO 3d ago edited 2d ago
Well, if the Brewers are going to sweep the Dodgers, I can at least be down with the knowledge that the near-entirety of baseball fandom is happy that the Dodgers had the shit beat out of them.
6
u/Plus-Pomegranate8045 3d ago
It’s pretty sad that whoever wins the AL is almost sure to perform better against the Brewers than the Dodgers are. What a train wreck for LA.
1
5
u/the_onewhoknocks Let's play two 3d ago
Man, this is truly pathetic and embarrassing from the Dodgers. Didn't expect them to just roll over and give this series away.
5
u/Jacksington Bergman 3d ago
Ohtani is hurt and the I know everybody doesn’t want to say it, but the Brewers are playing incredible baseball right now and have a bulletproof bullpen at the moment. Give them credit.
2
u/afrosteele 3d ago
I was worried they were being overrated because they haven’t looked good offensively for a while, but I didnt expect it to be a reversal of last year’s nlcs
2
u/the_onewhoknocks Let's play two 3d ago
This Dodgers lineup would be shut down by 2026 Phil Maton at this point.

Assuming Tampa Bay wins the pennant I think they present a tougher matchup to the brewers than this iteration of the dodgers.

The Rays are basically the AL Brewers, I can see that be a very tough series.
3
u/ShortRedBull 5d ago
I don't think we are competing with the Brew Crew any time soon.
I'm scared.
edit: shit I dont think we're competing with the White Sox any time soon. Why are we trash?
3
u/Radiant_Cod8373 5d ago
Because you have an owner that's priority is profit over winning. The Cubs have a formula to spend a fixed amount for 87 victories. They are fine with overachieving to try and win but must win 87 games, and be on a strict budget. The 87 wins they calculate keeps fans coming.
1
u/chichris 4d ago edited 4d ago
Nah. They spent this offseason and have a higher budget than any team in the playoffs now, besides the Dodgers. This is entirely on the front office, and if I’m ownership I’m beyond pissed. We need to stop thinking that spending will fix our underlying problems as an organization.
2
u/ShortRedBull 5d ago
cubs could be in last place of the div at ASB and Wrigley would sell 90% of tickets.
1
u/Radiant_Cod8373 5d ago
It isn't just about tickets sales. When you have a team that looks like they might compete, you can sell alot more Marquee network subscriptions, and get more ad revenue.

Still recovering from that Bears-Packers game and now can’t even get a decent Brewers hate-watch in because the Dodgers keep blowing it. Smdh.

The Brewers, Packers, and Bucks being significantly better than Chicago sports teams is depressing. I bet their AHL team could beat the Blackhawks too.
At least the Bucks are back to Hell

My god Hoyer got fleeced looks like Carter Hawkins is a bum. If the Guardians can do this and develop pitching which is where Hawkins is from and supposedly was his specialty and we have produced nothing and the Guardians do this?! Then hes a huge fraud and should be fired. Or did Hoyer accidentally hire thier expert on position players?!!!
1
u/WarmAd911 6d ago
What does Carter Hawkins actually do? I feel like it’s Jed who’s the one pulling the levers and telling everyone else he thinks hard throwing pitchers are useless.
Even at Marquee they’re getting annoyed. The one analyst Lance even said whatever is going in the Cubs model for analyzing pitchers outputs that the soft tossers are better than power pitchers, which is obviously not working out

Hawkins drafted Gavin Williams and Hunter Gaddis and signed Cade Smith.

Rip the bandaid off now and get rid of Jed, and build some talent through the draft as these contracts expire. PCA’s got a lotta runway -and could benefit from an actual talent evaluator
