Football game day recommendations?

My son is just getting into college football for the first time so I'm going to bring him to the San Diego State game in a few weeks as his first live football experience. I'm originally from out of state so I don't have any particular connection to CSU. Are there any special game day events or traditions that would be good to show him?

My son's in high school so this is also a sneaky "hey, aren't college campuses cool?" opportunity. Any suggestions of sights/buildings to see while we're there would be appreciated.

Definitely! The Nutrien Ag building is one of the newer and nicer buildings. There is a good bit of construction in central campus at the moment due to new academic buildings being built. The student center is huge, has restaurants and the student store inside, and I’d take him down to the Ramskellar and basically that whole area on that floor. Personally, I’d take a walk around/through the Oval, under the 100+ year old elms, take a look at the oldest buildings on campus (Spruce is the oldest) and maybe brush up on the history of them if you’re up to it and if he’d be interested. Ammons is on the Oval and is where admissions is, so they have alllll the recruitment info. Keep in mind, buildings may be closed and restaurants will probably not be open on Saturday. If you can swing through on Friday, definitely go through all of them. For game day, take a walk around tailgate, and be there for Ram Walk, when the team, band, cheerleaders, etc head to the stadium. I was a recruiter at CSU so I could go on forever, but campus is amazing, and I hope he falls in love with it like many of us did

4:30 game...Grab lunch at Avo's, then walk across the street and walk around campus. Their will be tailgating going on all over...After the game get dinner in Old Town....If you are in town Friday evening, they will do a little pep rally in old town with a portion of the band and cheerleaders.........Be on the north side of the stadium for the Rams walk, before the game...Might get to see Cam...
