92 nighthawk 750 battery placement
I'm not happy about my battery placement in this build. The custom 3d printed wiring box wasn't big enough to fit a battery so I threw it in the swingarm with a tray. The bolts holding the tray in keep backing themselves out, no matter how much loctite I throw at it. Could I get some insight on other people's budget builds? (Reuploading with better photos)

Sportster cafe style
I’ve built and restored numerous bikes, all early to mid 80’s air cooled Japanese stuff. Always wanted to try building a cafe/road race style sportster. I recently found this one, 1987 sporty. I didn’t build it…previous owner did over about 15 years. So much of the bike is how I would’ve done it, I may change a few things, but mainly ride it. Lots of engine and suspension work was done. Took it for a little test ride. Definitely a very different experience from being on a big in line 4!

What custom part do you wish existed for your bike? (Mech-Eng student looking for CAD projects)
Hey fellow riders!
I'm a mechanical engineering student and a CAD enthusiast from Italy, and I'm currently looking for inspiration for a new design project.
I was wondering: if you could have any custom accessory or part designed and manufactured for your motorcycle, what would it be? Are there any parts you wish existed but just can't find on the market? What's the price range you'd consider reasonable for it?
Also, what kind of materials do you usually prefer (e.g., billet aluminum, carbon fiber, 3D printed metal/plastic)?
Personally, I'm a Honda CB650R owner, so ideas for that specific bike are my main focus right now. However, I'm completely open to hearing about other models too! If you have a great idea for a different bike, let me know—just keep in mind I might ask if you'd be willing to take a couple of quick measurements on your machine for me to help with the CAD modeling. 😉
I'd love to hear your craziest or most practical ideas! Thanks! ✌️

400f cam choice.
G'day all, after some collective wisdom.
I'm rebuilding a CB400F as a slightly silly road-going tribute bike - it was my dad's first race bike and also my first road bike, so it means a fair bit to me. Dad passed away recently, and the mates who built his other race bike (a CB500F based Flying Dragon (John Blanchard replica)) are helping me get this one back together.
I'm mostly hoping to end up with a twisty-road fun bike, with maybe the occasional track day thrown in, but nothing too extreme as I'm trying to avoid going into the bottom end. I do want it to be a bit silly, but I'm avoiding full race grinds as deemed too peaky and top-end for road use, plus the obvious stresses on the rods / crank. So I'm after something that wakes up the mid-range and stays genuinely usable on the street.
The bike currently has:
- 54.5mm pistons (roughly 466cc)
- Mild skim on the head, and it'll likely be welded
- Rockers need a weld and regrind
- Springs: unknown provenance, but I think NOS OEM from when it was bored
- Stock cam is worn, not quite f'd but heading that way
- BoyerBransen ignition
- Total loss(! - likely to stay that way - like I said, silly.)
I've been looking at the Megacycle and Web Cam grinds, but I'd love to hear what people have actually run - which cam, how it behaves on the road, whether it needed modified pistons or upgraded springs, and anything you'd do differently. Other cam makers or options I haven't considered would very welcome too.
I'm in Australia, but expecting to have to ship internationally.
Thanks

Advice on swapping speedo etc on Honda CB750 1997?
I want to get rid of the big bulky speedo/rev counter/idiot light setup on my 97 CB750 cafe racer build.
I want to swap it out for something much lower down and discreet, any recommendations on what to buy (without breaking the bank) and how easy of a job it is? Cheers

Texavina
Looking to order a custom seat from texavina and contacted them a few days ago and havent gotten back a response, are they still in business??
I love the fitment of the first one but like the colour and stitch pattern of the second one. I figured the difference in the product is the cushion itself and not the seat cover. So how do I order?
Anyone bought from them before?

XJ900 Cafe Racer holds back above 6K RPM
so my XJ900F from 1994 holds back whenever i come above 6k rpm i checked the following things
- float hights
- sparkplug collor
- mainjet increased size 3 times thought it ran to lean
- fuel lines removed a fuel filter for more free flow (didnt do it)
what could be the problem anyone knows?

First time builder, question on rear shocks
Hey everyone, I'm starting a cafe racer project finally and picked up a 79 Honda cb750. Currently my plan is to make sure everything runs smooth mechanically, buy parts over the summer and than start stripping down and building over the winter here. So I'm looking for some more modern shocks and trying to keep the dual setup, but I'm having some trouble finding a set that has the OEM bottom "fork" style. Would I be better off just biting the bullet and doing some frame work to do two clevice style or am I just looking in the wrong places? Any advice would be awesome thanks!
