Do you mind sharing your stats? My kid is applying for animal science too

WA Resident, 3.49 unweighted GPA, 4.12 weighted GPA, 30 ACT (35 on science), all honors classes at a well-known prep school, and I have over 200 hours volunteering at an animal shelter + 100 hours as a vet clinic intern. No sports, and I compete in a chamber orchestra as a cellist. I don’t have a good GPA or a lot of extracurriculars, so I’m a bit surprised I got accepted honestly, since calpoly didn’t even have an essay section like UC Davis did haha. I hope your kid also gets in!

Thanks so much for sharing and congrats! She would love to choose between those 2 schools as they’re her top 2! She got her rejection from Davis last week so it’s all riding on SLO. 😭 Her gpa is great, she took a bunch of AP and honors classes, and has a decent amount of extracurriculars related to her major and then some so trying not to lose total hope. 🤞🏻 Good luck with your decision and thanks again! 💫

aw man i’m sorry about UC Davis.. I’m surprised she got rejected, but also sometimes it’s just random (I got rejected from UW, even though I’m in-state for example). Has she considered other schools like Oregon state or WSU? I know those two also have great vet schools and pre-vet and the applications for WSU are still open, not sure about Oregon state, just in case, since resting your future on only one college sounds terrifying. I applied to 20 schools though so maybe I overdid it haha. Your daughter sounds really cool and I hope she gets accepted to Calpoly! Let me know how it goes!

She got into Oregon state, WSU, and wait listed at UW. I think she’s worried WSU is too out in the middle of nowhere but is open to Oregon state. Right now she’s leaning towards Ohio state if she leaves CA, but that may easily change. She applied to about 20 schools too lol - SLO and Davis were her top choices. I’d love to hear where you land!
